Top N.H. Dems team up with V.P. to tout stimulus

Washington (CNN) - Vice President Joe Biden heads to New Hampshire Thursday morning to tout what the White House calls a major milestone of the federal stimulus. Teaming up with Biden at the event in Manchester will be the state's two Democratic representatives, who both face challenges at the polls this November.

According to the White House, "Vice President Biden will visit the home of a Manchester, NH family where he'll announce a major Recovery Act milestone – the weatherizing of 200,000 homes under the Recovery Act."

The administration says that their goal is to weatherize nearly 600,000 homes by March 2012 under the Recovery Act, adding that "the Administration is investing about $90 billion through the Recovery Act in clean energy and energy-efficiency projects that cut costs, reduce energy use and create new jobs."

The stimulus was passed by Congress early last year mostly along party lines. Republicans criticize the measure for failing to create jobs and pump up the economy.

Democratic Rep. Paul Hodes and Carol Shea-Porter will join Biden at the event. Rather than run for re-election, Hodes is bidding for the state's open Senate seat, currently held by retiring Republican Sen. Judd Gregg, and is his party's presumptive Senate nominee. Shea-Porter is running for re-election. Thanks in part to the tough political climate facing incumbents and Democrats, analysts say both Hodes and Shea-Porter face difficult elections.

Biden is expected to return to New Hampshire late next month to help raise campaign funds for both representatives.

Biden – weatherizing of homes has not really helped the economy. If you believe that the stimulus is really working then you are dumber than I originally thought.

Obama's stimulus has been the biggest economic disaster in decades. Democrats are banking that the average citizen is just plain stupid. No wonder they want Biden to tout it's effectiveness, as he's probably the worst vice-president in decades as well.

That's why unemployement stayed below 8% and people are flocking to the workforce. Thanks Joe for creating all those jobs.

Oh wait...I just saw where unemployment is 9.5% and over a million people have left the workforce so they aren't even counted anymore. You mean the stimulus was to stimulate people to leave the workforce. My bad.

Okay...first, how does adding a couple projects nationwide that may take a couple of weeks to a month to get done save jobs? It means after that work is done people will get laid off or they have other jobs to do other than these pet projects to keep them working.
Second, if you are increasing some work for construction contractors to make things more "energy efficient", won't you be costing the jobs of people who work digging coal, oil, work at power plants, build new power structures, etc? You are increasing one temporary need to finish a job to eliminate a long term job to supply. Hence, an unemployment number that has remained high throughout the Obama administration.

The first stimulus did nothing but drive up the national deficit more rapidly than any single action in American history and provide discretionary pork spending for special Democrat projects. It did absolutely nothing to improve our economy or stimulate jobs. What will make round 2 any different?

The Dems need to drive home the message: job growth went from over 750,000 jobs lost per month to job gains under President Obama. Then the growth flatlined as the job creation plans got stalled by the Repugs

Some lying Repugs say huge wealth was lost under President Obama, yet the stock market had a juge recovery, until it flatlined as the economic plans got stalled by the Repugs.

Challenge the Repugs. Make them defend their lies.

Give em hell, Joe. (And say hi to Dr. Jill for me!)

Another wasteful stimulus bill of 90 billion dollars. The last winterizing bill cost billions and each house weatherized cost thousands of dollars that private companies said they could have done for a couple hundred dollars each. This summer of recovery is a joke and any idiot who believes there is a recover should be in a mental hospital. Every economic indicator is going down except for one and that is unemployment.

Many economists and financial people I listen to on CNBC and Bloomberg were supporters of Obama in 2008. These same people are now saying we are approaching close to a 50% chance of a double-dip recession. The lack of clarity on tax policy in 2011, the unknown cost of the health-care reform bill, the unknown cost of the financial regulation bill and the general anti-business attitude of Obama and the Democrats is increasing the likelihood of the onset of another recession.

People, Biden is very correct!!!!!!! Americans are happy with getting money from the government since there are no jobs out there and millions of Americans are growing happier not having to look for work, happier with bigger government handling everything for them, keep the stimulus monies coming, give me $$$$, give me $$$$, give me $$$$$, that's what I keep reading in comments people are writing.
