(CNN) – NAACP President Benjamin Todd Jealous, speaking at the "Reclaim the Dream" rally Saturday, castigated the message of the Glenn Beck rally across town in Washington.

"For a year and a half, we've been subjected to small hearts and small minds on our small screens," he said, referring to conservative ideas on media. Beck is a conservative talk show host, with a program on Fox News as well as several radio programs.

Urging people to continue to fight for issues like health care and the ideas of the Rev. Martin Luther King, Jr., Jealous said, "It's time to make sure our country - when they turn on the TV - sees itself reflected back."

Since when is attacking somebody else an enlightened approach? I concur with plans to improve the lots of others. We can do that without taking energy to attack other people, unless there is no substance to our own ideas and we must put down others to make ourself stronger in the realm of public opinion. Just thinking out loud.

Here we go again, the clowns of the NACCP and the DUMocRATic party throwing the RACE card when it doesn't apply.

I now accuse the NACCP of being RACISITS. Period, end of conversation.

What those at the Martin Luther King rally have to do is to begin to unit as a force. Come election time , they need to get all the blacks and the Hispanics out to vote AGAINST the Conservative beliefs. That is the only way to defeat them..

Beck wouldn't recognize his god if he was stuck in the @ss by one of his god's horns. Only those with a very poor intellect could possibly stomach this POS for more than about two minutes.

He's right. I don't see myself reflected back. I see politicians who spin the facts to suit their own agenda. Dem and Rep. It seems the Rep's get nastier every day. Maybe Beck wants to be the Pope of America.

At least he defended Shirley Sherrod against the firing by the Obama administration unlike the NAACP which demanded that she be let go.And his niece said that the civil rights leader would have approved.

Ah yes, the archaic, race-baiting NAACP wants to claim the civil rights discussion, but by their deeds over the last 20 years or so have they surrendered the right! Entitlement and special rights is and will always be ENSLAVEMENT and no one has a right to pick the pockets of the American taxpayers!

This so-called "rally" is nothing more than opportunistic televangelism, designed to re-direct anger from the Republican policy that set the stage for such anger in the first place. Pathetic.

I place a lot more faith in ideas of Social Justice, Equal Rights, and Education than the Baffoon, Glenn Beck. OMG! Glenn Beck needs to be evaluted for any mental disorders. If he thinks that I have to live his faith the way he believes it should be he has another thing coming! This man has no idea of reality!

Beck isn't perfect...but this Tea party movement reminds us that government is here to serve the people, not tax the people. We need a smaller, simpler government that balances their budget every year! We have to stop promising people free stuff (food, housing, healthcare). We need to stop taking money away from the hardest working Americans to give it to the laziest Americans. Everyone should work, everyone should pay some taxes. We have to have every American buy American made goods. We need to use less energy. We need to recycle. We need to eat less, more vegitarian, more locally grown food. We need to raise and educate our children better, the government can't do this....this is the essence of the the Tea Party and Glenn Beck....they aren't perfect, but they are better than the leadership in the White house and Congress now. We need to vote these bums out!!!!

I never have been a fan of any of the TV news ranters because they consistently are inconsistent. All of them will occasionally say something that make sense but for the most part they are simply entertainers. One thing that does distgust me is the NAACP coming out bashing anyone. This is a radical group that speaks out illogically on an ongoing basis. Who is speaking out about their rally? No one. Why? Whether you like it or not, they can have a rally in the US and so can Beck.

conservative ideas are about working hard and doing it on your own without help. Nothing wrong with that. You wanna level the playing field then work harder. Being a victim your whole life is your own fault. Dr king was saying this same message. He was not saying give me a hand out.

I am so sick and tired of religious nutcases trying to destroy the Constitution. We are a free country. Religions were made by MAN. They were made to control MAN. They cause death and hate.
You people rely on the words of other MEN to tell you what GOD said. If GOD wanted to tell you something, he would! HE wouldn't need some nutcase to tell you. If he wanted to tell people the commandments, he wouldn't have used Moses, he would have told the group himself that were gathered there! How foolish you are to believe the word of a MAN that says he is speaking for GOD.
Only GOD speaks for himself. No MAN can speak for him! Wise up! Look at the hypocrites that lead you. Look at what they say and what they do. You are all being lead by false prophets!

If the NAACP didn't have people to hate on they would be eating their own children.

"Urging people to continue to fight for issues like health care..."

Or, in other words, urging blacks to continue to reinforce the perception of puling dependency on the handouts of whites.

Does this guy really think that's a good idea?

Make no mistake, people: those who argue most vociferously for government involvement in health care do so because they think it's a way to get other people to pay their medical bills. Such people are, on the whole, devoid of honour, integrity, and self-respect, and blacks are doing themselves little good by associating with such.

I caught the live stream of the RestoreAmericaRally hosted though Beck and his supporters.......it wasn't a belittlement of anything...it was essentially a call to a changed heart...a call to the Heart the God requires of us.......I think MLK would have walked overr and joined him on that..it's too bad the two groups did not come together...that would have been one powerful message to the world and accordingly in God's will. MLK was a man of God, we must not forget that...though a sinner like us all..he strived to seek the face of Christ in all he did.

Ben is jealous. Like "Rev." Jesse and "Rev." Al he is scared to death that someone is going to point out that we don't need a civil righs movement anymore. That would mean they would have to get a real job and then the truth would be exposed...they couldn't run a two car funeral in a one light town.

The whole problem with the civil rights movement isn't white people. It's the leaders of the movement sponging off the followers. Blacks are being left behind in the competitive economy by Hispanics and by Orientals...neither of whom "benefit" from an organized civil rights movement. Shut up and make something other than noise.

The NAACP, what a joke. They have done more to become a political machine than an institution to help people of color. Every black person I know thinks it is a joke. Instead of trying to work with others, Jealous again pushes an agenda of hate and intolerance of others. Good job.
