Obama rips GOP for blocking business aid bill

President Obama blasted Senate Republicans on Monday for blocking a small business assistance bill.

President Obama blasted Senate Republicans on Monday for blocking a small business assistance bill.

Washington (CNN) - President Barack Obama blasted Senate Republicans on Monday for blocking a small business assistance bill, calling their opposition "pure partisan politics."

The country needs a "full scale attack" on economic sluggishness, he told reporters at the White House.

"While we have taken a series of measures and come a long way ... too many Americans are still looking for work and too many communities are far from being whole again," he said.

The president also said his economic team is "hard at work" on a series of new measure designed both to spark short-term hiring and lay the foundation for long-term economic growth.

Not true Mr. President! Your liberal agenda has severely hindered small businesses in the last 18 months, so please do us all a favor and stop lying by once again blaming the Republicans...

BTW folks all those who state the Iraq war caused our economic troubles... I know that no one has educated you to this so allow me to enlighten you a bit.

The ENTIRE war has cost less than the money Obama has thrown away on stimulus that did nothing for the country!

WAKE UP!!! Read and educate yourselves, slick speeches do NOT make a leader.

I hope in the next few weeks he starts calling out the Republicans for the pure obstructionists they are. If he can make the American people wake up and see the Repubs have no ideas to help the economy, he can spare us all from them taking too many seats in November.

  9. More change in November (but good change)

I'm a small business owner and Obama's policies are hurting more than helping.

Also, this man is an idiot. The GOP CAN'T BLOCK his agenda. He's had a supermajority in the Congress for his whole presidency. Obama is just playing politics and laying blame. The man failed, get over it.

Here's your GOP at work people. Go ahead put them back in power. You think the "lesser" of us have it bad now. They'll become invisible once those American haters are back in power.

The media wonders how 20% of the nation can believe that Obama is a Muslim.

Well, this is why a bunch of the American people have no idea that the Small Business Bill is FULLY PAID FOR... because CNN et al lets the GOP get away with lies like this:

"Instead of growing jobs as promised, Washington Democrats have grown the size of the national debt, the federal government and the unemployment rate," McConnell said.

Please inform the American people that this Small Business Bill is already PAID FOR.

The President shouldn't be too surprised. Republicans have and always will be for BIG BUSINESS and could care less for the small business guy or blue collar workers, other than how they can be used to line their own pockets.

Instead of increasing the deficit with all your bailouts, since nothing has worked and we are still losing jobs(2MIllion this year), there is a simple answer. Companies in the US now have close to 3 Trillion dollars. Because of your solcialistic policies, they are scared to death of what is coming next and that is why they sit on the sidelines. The answer is repeal the health plan, tear up Wall Street reform and continue the tax cuts. This will have a major affect on these companies. Small business do not want to hire because of the increased cost of your health bill. So no matter what you do on the small business jobs bill, it will have no effect whatsoever. That is why the Republicans wont vote for it. You are nothing but a crybaby and wont listen to people who know what they are taling about. Wake up Mr President.

  17. Randolph Carter, I'm no expert, but...

Way back in the '80's, Frank Zappa stated, in an interview, that 2 things destroyed the United States of America and they can both be abbreviated with 3 letters. Those 2 things, he said, were LSD and MBA. By LSD, he went on to explain, he meant the whole inward-gazing me, me, me attitude which started to replace a more common-good approach as the baby boom came of age. By MBA, he meant the commodification of everything as well as the change in our education system from one producing well-rounded individuals able to think for themselves to a vocational system which teaches specific skill sets for specific careers and churns out obedient little consumerbots. Frank Zappa was a smart man. Have a nice day!

Palin's created jobs: one for herself, one for her husband Todd campaigning for her, one for Bristol and one for Bristol's baby daddy Levi. That's 4 jobs, all in the family.

How sad that the GOP is doing their best to ensure that our economy doesn't rebound from the disaster they caused just to improve their chances of winning some seats in November. Party before country is their motto.

The democrates don't even support this bill. He has enough votes in his own party to pass it if they wanted to. Wake up America this guy is a liar and cares nothing for anything but himself.
