Obama to visit Walter Reed

(CNN) - President Obama is headed to Walter Reed Army Medical Center Monday to visit veterans wounded in Iraq.

The visit is not on the President's schedule but an official said the President wanted to make the visit one day before delivering his Tuesday night Oval Office address to the nation marking the removal of all U.S. combat troops from Iraq.

Shrub's "get the man that tried to kill my daddy" war cost us more lives and more destruction than the 9/11 attackers.

Shrub's tax cuts for the wealthy put us further in debt (unfunded) as did hiw two wars (unfunded).

Now people unrealistically expect an over-night turn-around. Very unrealistic, indeed.

Thank you Mr. President for bringing this God forsaken war to an end. There are actually morons out there that believe GWB should be given credit for ending this war. GWB did set up a timetable with the Status of Forces Agreement, and you have followed the timetable. We should have never been in Iraq to begin with. I'm still wondering where the heck is the WMD and yellowcake uranium Saddam got from Africa. Remember that LIE people???

Criticizing the President during a time of war is treason.

Thank you Mr.President,we now the rightwingnuts dont care about the wounded, maimed, and killed.Speaking of illness, there is a seriously mentally ill person making posts on here everyday of his waking life.He spreads hate, uses hundreds of names, claims to be from every state and has vowed since the election to do everything they can to insure our country fails. Please dont fall into their hate trap.He thrives on the hate he creates.

So now Obama is back from his vacation and his handlers have told him do all these photo opts that will help him regain the trust and goodwill of the American people.Visiting WALTER REED HOSPITAL is a thing that will sit well with Americans. However,he's doing it all for the wrong reason, just to try to resurrect his sorry political standing. If he really wanted to do something meaningful pull our soldiers out of Afghanistan now so more will come home with a full set of arms and legs and less in body bags.!!!

Let's make sure there are enough photo-journalist there so we can document this historic moment. Please Mr. Obama, keep this private to honor those heroes.

Thank God this nightmare is almost over! God bless all our christian troops and I pray you recover mentally and physically from your injuries. While some will find fault from our president's visit – it will not take away the good intention and good will needed in Walter Reed. Please keep up the good work Mr. President.

We sincerely love you in California.

As a Vietnam era veteran I find this trip to be obnoxiously political and a photo op – Obama is looking to pick up a few names and press snippets for his TV speech on Iraq - Shameful

  13. Using troops as political ploys

During his campaign, Obama used Greek Columns as props - now that he is President, he is using US troops for props – Disgusting

We need a Commander in Chief who knows what he is doing -- and who gives the military all they need to win any war they are in. Obama is running Afghanitan in the same way Kennedy – Johnson – and Nixon ran Vietnam -– SHAME ON OBAMA

After all these months it is long past due. How can this be a "surprise visit" if it is well advertised by the White House to the media ahead of time...?

Does he think a photo op with some wounded soldiers will help the polls? I think all military, current and former, have more brains than that. Funny how he pulls the military out of his back pocket when he needs a bost. Otherwise, he wants nothing to do with them. Vote 'em in. Vote'em out.

Maybe I'm missing something, but how can it be a 'surprise trip' if we all know about it?! The media will do ANYTHING to try and make this guy look good!!

Bravo, Mr. President, for truly taking care of our veterans and keeping your promise to end Bush's $1 trillion foolish war. I think your speech tomorrow (August 31) will mark a milestone in your Presidency.

    How pathetic is this ?

obama is politicizing everything he touches....like a Midas touch in reverse. He's just so desperate to cling to his failed neo-socialism policies . This is all for show, but I'm glad he took a break from his numerous vacations, and I'm glad he squeezed this trip in between golf outings .

He should resign, to spare the agony of IMPEACHMENT.

The phony, liar is no longer credible in what he says/does.

Only the commie propaganda media take him seriously, and they spread his lies.

The man works hard. The only thing Repugs do is divide the country, obstruct Prez Obama, hoping that voters will reward their bigotry and ineptitude. Brave Mr. Prez.

Funny how Bush did these kind of visits all the time and insisted that they be kept quiet. But if a veteran passes within a mile of Obama it's front page news. I get it, he's as patriotic as anyone, but the more he goes out of his way to "prove" these things (see also his faith), the more people wonder.
