DGA 'matches' $1M News Corp. contribution to RGA

The Democratic Governors Association has raised over $1 million off of the news that News Corporation gave $1 million to the Republican Governors Association.
The Democratic Governors Association has raised over $1 million off of the news that News Corporation gave $1 million to the Republican Governors Association.

(CNN) - The Democratic Governors Association announced Tuesday that they have raised over $1 million to "match" the $1 million that Fox News' parent company, News Corporation, has given to the Republican Governors Association in the 2010 election cycle.

The announcement demonstrates the success Democrats have had painting Fox News as a mouthpiece for the Republican Party.

"When Fox News' parent company, News America, pumped a million bucks into this year's 37 governors' races, I bet they thought they'd be helping the Republican Governors Association snuff out Democratic state leaders and congressional majorities for years to come," the DGA's executive director, Nathan Daschle, wrote in an e-mail to supporters Monday. "Boy, did that backfire."

The DGA raised nearly $200,000 in the last 48 hours according to Daschle's e-mail and another e-mail sent Tuesday by DGA finance director Colleen Turrentine.

The RGA did not immediately respond to CNN's request for comment.

When news broke earlier this month of News Corporation's massive contributions to the RGA, Democrats pounced.

"'Fair and Balanced' has been rendered utterly meaningless," Democratic National Committee spokesman Hari Sevugan said. "Any pretense that may have existed about the ties between Fox News and the Republican Party has been ripped violently away."

News Corporation spokesman Jack Horner defended the donation.

"News Corporation believes in the power of free markets, and the RGA's pro-business agenda supports our priorities at this most critical time for our economy," Horner said in a statement to CNN.

"Fair and balanced" is a continuing lie spread by Faux News, just like Glen Beck's claim that his rally last weekend was non-political...

Well, it goes right along with the fact that CNN is a mouthpiece for the Dems. There IS a reason they call it the Clinton News Network. And MSNBC is worse. So, if you want to call Fox News a mouthpiece for the Republicans...REALLY? Hannity is the big giveaway I guess huh? But I've heard O'Reilly go off on Republicans too. Sure, they're slanted conservative right...but no more than the left leaning CNN and MSNBC.

Fox NEWS? "Fair and Balanced?" What a spaz. Fox News has always had a right-wing slant, and it's become extremely evident in the past couple of years. It doesn't surprise me to see Fox News donating to the RGA, all of which is made possible by the Supreme Court's Citizen United decision. Thanks alot SCOTUS!

This is SO childish. The writer of this piece should be fired. How stupid can CNN be to actually publish something like this. How ignorant for people to believe this crap. This is showing just how desperate the left is.

What a good laugh this evening, Thanks!

CNN links to this story as "Fox News helps Dems raise $1M" and yet, there's absolutely zero indication in the post that any of the money raised by the DGA was a result of FoxNews. I mean, we all know it's just sour grapes from CNN for getting so thoroughly dominated. Still, go down with honesty and integrity please.

Fox News is as much as mouthpiece for the right as MSNBC is a mouthpiece for the left. While not blatant mouthpieces, CNN, NBC, CBS, and ABC are all on the left side of the fence, while talk radio is on the right.

There are NO television news outlets that are not biased...so who cares if NewsCorp gave $1million to the Republicans? Who cares if MSNBC did so to the Democrats?

They are both fully within their rights to do so...

Big deal. So the DGA got Soros or his myriad of corporate fronts to pony up $200,000.

As for Fox being a mouthpiece for the Republican party, why not admit that CBS, NBC, ABC, New York Times, L.A. Times, Boston Herald, NPR, Washington Post, etc. are mouthpieces for the Democrat party?

Obama and the Democrats have such contempt for Fox News, and especially the average Americans that watch it. They really hate the fact that you can get a fair and balance view from both sides of what our Government is doing rather than the slanted, 90% Elite Left Wing coverage you get from most of the Main Stream Media!

Democrats received more money in 2008 from Wall street then the Republicans did.. ( I know you have been told different and led to believe the Republicans are in bed with Wall Street.. sorry to give you the truth) Also far more from Unions..

Considering these facts I along with most educated people are not surprised by the fact that the Democrats have more money than the Republicans do... It means NOTHING.

It is NOT a question of whether News Corp (foreign owned) should match political contributions, but whether if CORPORATIONS should be giving anything at all. Americans are tired of corporate executives trying to buy off politicans. Fortunately the AMERICAN CONSUMER is starting to flex their muscle i.e, the boycott of Target who thinking they can buy their mule in Washington. As corporate America has found out the consumer rules the economy and we are NOT happy. We do have discretionary income to spend or NOT to spend and we will chose NOT to spend it on companies who DO NOT have our best interest in mind. So boycott "Dunkin Donuts". Nobody "needs" a coffee or a fat stick and teach the greedy, manipulative corporate executives a lesson.

I think that that is "fair and Balanced!" The extremist agenda on FOX has got to stop pretending that they come anywhere close to being "fair and balanced!" They are doing everything they can to divide America and Americans.
