(CNN) – The Justice Department has filed its appeal of a federal court ruling that blocked federal funding for embryonic stem-cell research, warning that the decision could shut down life-saving research and stall medical breakthroughs.

Where's all the idiotic right-wing whining over "activist judges" now? What a bunch of hypocrites!

Congress should change the law if the OBUMA administration does not like it instead of trying to go around things with executive orders. How enforcing a law on the books like immigration?

Why does not obama simply ignore the courts like he always does. The courts said he could not stop drilling and he sent billions to the IMF for redistribution of wealth to third rate countries over the protests of the congress. Its a liberal controlled congress so they did not pursue obama to the courts.

As a scientist working in a stem cell laboratory this ruling has been a major blow to our group and to other researchers around the country. We are hoping that congress can pass a law or the judge will overturn the injunction. Please support ethical embryonic stem cell research.

I agree with shawn, where are the right wing nuts who complain about activist judges? These ultra conservative nuts in the GOP would prefer that we go back to bleeding people or putting leaches on people to get all those bad things out of the sick, everybody knows there's something inside that needs to be drained out of the sick people. Or maybe just pray and do nothing else. These idiots don't realize that God gave us a brain so we would use it.

Vote NO in NOvember to the party of NO.

Ifstem cell research was so promising I find it hard to believe that companies would not be willing to fund their own research and reap the rewards from patents they would own. I guess people want the government to be responsible for and pay for everything.

GOOD........ The GOP are the so-called-pro-life party, but how can you be pro-life and attack a country that did nothing to the U.S., killing countless Iraqis and over 4,000 of our Nation's sons and daughters? How is war pro-life?

And now the GOP is against stem-cell research. The embryos were donated, they were going to be thrown into the trash. What better use for life than to help give life?

In NOvember vote NO for the Party of NO! Remember America how we got into this mess in the first place!

I do NOT believe that tax $$$ should go to fund this...it should be all private money to do this research.

What an imbecilic ruling to begin with.

How ironic when idoit bush declared war on a soviegn countgry-nary a discouraging word was uttered- and thousands of our kids died and billions of our treasury wasted-

But when R/D and the cure for horrid life threatening diseases are at the fore front then all of the good, hypocritical christians- who are not immune to CASTROPHOIC DISEASES- cry foul on the grounds of religion.

Do these cerberal void, negative intellects rule the scientific research sphere of this country?

Pox on their houses and let the $$ flow for the good of all the people and do not let a few small minded dimwits speak for us.

Let's make a deal with the rethugs and the bible thumping thugs (who really have no idea what the bible says).
If you and one of your family members/friends, etc., gets sick and stem cell research can save them let them die. This is the retard's death panel right in front of you.
For the rest of us? Continue with the research. Use it on those who want to use it. The rest? Poof. What's one less rethug or two.

I am not sure what i am reading ... the Justice Department is appealing another Justice Department's ruling ... this is about as odd as it can get. Perhaps this is an internal Checks & Balances activity?

Personally, I am not concerned about the ruling ... how are using stem cells (and killing them) any different than abortions on a very young fetus?

I am more concerned with the "Crooked" scientist and Lobbying firms that want to control this activity. As good as all "life saving research" activities can be, there are always players in the fold that want to use this type of research for bad intentions. After all, this type of research is akin to playing the roll of God.
