Anchorage, Alaska (CNN) - Alaska Sen. Lisa Murkowski conceded late Tuesday to Tea Party-backed candidate Joe Miller in Alaska's GOP Senate primary.
"We know that we still have outstanding votes to count in this primary, but based on where we are right now, I don't see a scenario where the primary will turn out in my favor," Murkowski told reporters in Anchorage. "I am now conceding the race for the Republican nomination."
She said she informed Miller of her decision.
Miller, a little-known attorney, was boosted by the support of former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin. He also was helped by the endorsement of the Tea Party Express. Arguably the country's most high-profile national Tea Party organization, the group spent nearly $600,000 assisting Miller's campaign.

I guess she didn't receive enough support from Al Franken who knows how to materialize votes out of nowhere.
That says a lot for "mama grizzlies" support for women. Palin is the biggest fraud in history and hopefully women will see it for themselves.
Murkowski should run as a write-in.
Let the people decide, not the party
YES!!! Finally! Now Joe can provide some real leadership in Washington! This guy has an impressive resume and will make Alaskans proud. This is change I can believe in!
it's alaska- what do you expect from the land of sarah-there is a saying that alaska is populated by those running from something olr somebody! What exactly does alaska do for the rest of the country?
So disappointed in the republicans in my state.
That about guarantees a Democrat win in November.
One for Sarah, and ONE LOSS FOR PROGRESSIVES.
Great. This is the setup for an EPIC FAIL for the GOP in AK.
Now if only Palin will concede her unspoken run for the presidency.
Never ever under estimate the power of Sarah Palin!
There goes sanity and the federal dollars...."let them drink tea and moose burgers " courtesy of miller & palin associates
Well, the Senate just got a little more conservative. Isn't this dandy-NOT!
Lisa I hope you decide to run as something other than a rebublican.
another one bites the dust
Looks like Crazy Joe Miller - who thinks women "should stay home and not work" is going to lose in November.
Oooof...the air up in Alaska may be clean but it's definitely thin. Palin, tea partiers, Beck, Limbaugh and the rest of the whacked out moron brigade have a really made a mockery of Alaska, the GOP and America. The collective gene puddle that they all came from needs a huge chlorine tablet.
The rest of the headline should read: Murkowski concedes Alaska GOP Senate primary, Palin Backed Candidate Wins!
Good for you Tea Party members! If they aren't conservatives.....They go!
What a great day for Alaska! What a great day for America!
The guy that was talking all over David Gergen was rude and uninformed. Gergen has great insight from a mid road perspective, the other guy was typical lib who's best argument is beating down a discussion by talking fast and loud. Is CNN becoming MSNBC?
Alaska is the most subsidized state in the union and they want the government to get off their backs. I travel there often and love what the state has to offer but its difficult to understand how people reconcile that.
Pure hypocrisy? I think so. I hope they get what they deserve from their new Tea party guy and have to start paying taxes like the rest of us. I would appreciate the couple of thousand dollars each Alaskan gets from oil revenues, would'nt you?
It doesn't matter to anyone outside Alaska but I think Palin endorsee is what.they deserve.
Paul Begala was an embarassment tonight on Anderson Copper. I think he is hurting the Democrate party. He spews hate and it shows and people are really getting tired of it. Anderson should have stopped Begala's tirade.
I fear that after this triumph, Mama Grizzly's head is going to inflate to the size of the Von Hindenburg. Let's just hope this time the gasbag is filled with helium, in case there should ever be the faintest spark inside.
