(CNN) -Glenn Beck is scoffing at recent attacks from MSNBC's Keith Olbermann and others after the Fox News host inaccurately told the crowd at his recent Washington, DC rally that he "held" George Washington's handwritten inaugural address.
"I thought it would be a little easier in the speech," Beck told his radio listeners Thursday as he dismissed the most recent liberal attack directed at him.
The uproar from the left came in response to a comment Beck made during his Restoring Honor rally on the National Mall last weekend in which he said, "I went to the National Archives and held the First Inaugural Address written in his own hand by George Washington."
Turns out the Archives' policy doesn't allow members of the public to touch rare documents like the First Inaugural Address. Instead, Beck was permitted to view the document through plastic – prompting Olbermann to declare "his story that he actually got to hold it…is wrong."
"His fib stands in stark contrast to the point of the rally, which was all about restoring the principles of courage and honor that the nation was founded upon," the publication Mother Jones chimed in.
But Beck himself didn't seem frazzled by the allegations.
"They are like, 'He's such a liar. Glenn Beck is such a lair!' said Beck laughing off the criticism.
"I thought I'd be a little easier than to say, 'Yesterday, I went to the National Archives, and they opened up the vault, and they put on their gloves, and then they put it on a tray, and they wheeled it over, and it's all in this hard plastic, and the because you're sitting down at a table and you can't – because of [Former National Security Advisor] Sandy Berger - you can't actually touch any of the documents because they are very rare'…..I thought it was a little clumsy to explain it that way."
"Might have been a little too much useless information!" Beck exclaimed. "Once again, they caught me."

Ok, I am not a fan of Glenn Beck but folks, c'mon! If all you have is this thin "lie" then you have to do a lot better. Isn't it just ok nowadays to say "I don't agree with his politics." and leave it at that? I don't get it. What does it matter if Olberman or CNN doesn't cover all of Obama's ten lies per day, the bottom line is Beck indeed lied. If it quacks like a duck, it's a duck.

Once upon a time people could have dignified disagreements, ethical expectations and common respect. My liberal grandfather had many, many conservative friends.
If he will lie about something small like this he will lie about the bigger stuff. All of his followers and narrow minded people that are easily lead. Just don't drink the Kool-Aid, it tastes bad and will hurt you.
For heaven's sake, he "lies" every day. But lying doesn't matter. As long as we like what we hear, who cares if it is the truth or a lie. I see someone accusing our President of lying. Let's put every sentence of the President up to fact checks. Very few things would be called lies, very few. On the other hand, let's put up Boehner, or Beck or any of them, try it. You'll be amazed at how the republicans and others stretch the truth beyond recognition. Let's let the comparison actually be done. Obama has nothing to worry about in that comparison.

I'm sure he (and some of the commenters here) would have skewered a journalist who did the same fictionalizing in an MSM article because the journalist "thought it'd be a little easier" to say it that way. Easier? Maybe. Accurate? Not. Wrong? Definitely. Hypocritical at a rally about honor? Without a doubt. Especially since he could just as easily have said that he saw it.

It's just an indication that Beck is sloppy with his facts. Sloppier than he should be. Would it have been so hard for him to say "I saw the inaugural address..." or "I viewed the inaugural address?" The point would still stand, and he would have been more factually correct.
I don't think this incident deserves an "uproar," but it does deserve to be noted that Glenn Beck is known to color the truth a little, if it's "easer" for him that way.

He should have been prepared for this. Say what you actually did, whether it's "easier in the speech" or not. That being said, it's hilarious that he's being attacked by Keith Olbermann (isn't he still on his perpetual vacation?). That man's journalistic credibility reached its peak when he was reading sports scores off of a teleprompter for FOX SPORTS. I wonder where that cool leather jacket he wore might be.
