McCain wants Obama to visit border

Arizona Sen. John McCain said on Sunday that he’d like President Obama to visit the U.S.-Mexico border in Arizona.
Arizona Sen. John McCain said on Sunday that he’d like President Obama to visit the U.S.-Mexico border in Arizona.

(CNN) – Republican Sen. John McCain on Sunday invited President Barack Obama to visit the border with Mexico to get a complete picture of the region and called on the president to do more for security.

If "anybody hasn't seen what's going on south of our border, they have been oblivious to the terrible, terrible struggle that's going on down there - 28,000 Mexican citizens being killed, the murders taking place just south of our border, the invasions and the insecurity in the southern part of our state," the Arizona senator said on "Fox News Sunday."

Securing the border must be a priority for the current administration, he said.

"I'd love for the president to come and visit the border. Unfortunately, he hasn't had time to do so," McCain said.

McCain should go out insearch of some of those "headless bodies" and then retire so "Half Gov." Palin can select him as her VP choice in 2012. Oh how we would love that.

Senator McCain...take your own advice! Your constituents see your face only when it comes time to run for re-election. Our guess is that you and Palin are looking at Russia from her home in Anchorage instead of dealing with the issues facing the common citizens of Arizona....like gathering support for the President's jobs bill.

Mc Cain was rejected in 2008 so he will always be there because his feelings are still hurt.

McCain still doesn't get it. Obama WANTS the illegal immigration to continue......that's why he is refusing to do anything about it!

What is he really going to see? The border is quite huge. Anything he would see most likely would be staged. The Secret Service and others would not put him in harm's way if there should be such a case. That is a ridiculous waste of the President's time and the taxpayers' expense.

Yeah, John...between Mideast peace, hurricane Earl, and the Gulf mess with BP, the President's been a bit busy.

Stop trying to have it both ways – you and Governer deer-in-the-headlights keep saying that the Federal Government needs to stay out of States' business and at the same time demand that the Federal Government solve all of your problems. Time to grow up.

Really? Mr. "I'm for Comprehensive Immigration Reform" when George Bush was POTUS, is now, just now concerned about the border & security? How long has he been the Senator from Az? What a panderer.

  13. The reality is...

no way will Obama and the Democrats try to secure the border. This is where they hope to get a sizable voter base. The mosre illegal immigrants they can get in the more they can give amnesty to.

McCain is a phoney. This is another one of his selfish political moves to win another election. Immigration issues in AZ have been around for as long as hes been in office. McCain ...why havent you found a solution... I know...because you are part of the problem. Sad to say but its time for this man to go away go into retirement...just get out of the way of progress. AZ had patience for you. You dont have patience for progress. You just blame and complain. Step back take a long look in your mirror. Can you see what I see? Doesnt look good huh?

Illegal immigration from Mexico is at historically low levels– far lower than it was during the last administration. Crime committed by illegal immigrants is at historically low levels.

Why this is suddenly such a front-burner issue is a mystery.

Mccain want to distract the president from the economy with wedge issues so he can blame him again for rejecting the economy. Smart move john. The fact is you guys need to help the president with this job bill and stop distroying the countrty to make the president look bad so you can win a seat.

From the Government......your party says we are spent to much already.......but you know maybe more servailance equipment down there should catch any of these beheadings that the Govenor says is going on.......this man can't be taken serious anymore.....for one the interview was on FAUX and then one day he is for immigration and the next he is against it......what a flip flopping phony.....wander what he thought of his daughters new book coming out that called Palin out on her behavior while on the campaign trail when she was running for VP?

Why does the President need to visit the border – he is already being told by the LYING Brewer that there are 'beheadings' there!! He also has McCain backing that up (well maybe not now because Brewer RETRACTED and told everyone she is a LIAR).

The MORE this administration does for AZ, the MORE they want. But NEVER, not ONCE did they ever say they appreciate what this administration has done thus far!!! The crime rate in AZ is way down since President Obama took office and you do not see the Governor nor McCain quoting those facts!!!

I agree with Vic September 5th, 2010 12:45 pm ET
McCain still thinks he's running for President!!!
