McCain wants Obama to visit border

Arizona Sen. John McCain said on Sunday that he’d like President Obama to visit the U.S.-Mexico border in Arizona.
Arizona Sen. John McCain said on Sunday that he’d like President Obama to visit the U.S.-Mexico border in Arizona.

(CNN) – Republican Sen. John McCain on Sunday invited President Barack Obama to visit the border with Mexico to get a complete picture of the region and called on the president to do more for security.

If "anybody hasn't seen what's going on south of our border, they have been oblivious to the terrible, terrible struggle that's going on down there - 28,000 Mexican citizens being killed, the murders taking place just south of our border, the invasions and the insecurity in the southern part of our state," the Arizona senator said on "Fox News Sunday."

Securing the border must be a priority for the current administration, he said.

"I'd love for the president to come and visit the border. Unfortunately, he hasn't had time to do so," McCain said.

McCain has sold his soul to the devil. He did so in 2008. He has done a 180 on several issues..... Bush tax cuts, immigration, cap and trade, pay as you go, maverick....etc.

McCain is so lost on what is going on in our country. He seems to be o.k. with giving it away to illegals just to get a vote. He should have been jumping up and down in support of Az governor as she tried to address the problem that McCain and the rest of congress keep ignoring. It is a shame the people of Az didnt have a competent individual to send to Washington.

Mr. McCain are you calling for the president to put aside his endless chain of vacations to put his ear to the rail and actually listen to what Americans fear and are concerned with? C'mon now, u know better than that.

Senator McCain, NObama and his moronic crew in Washington don't even know where Arizona and its border with Mexico is located. And, if he does not see opportunities for photo ops, he's not going!

Hint, hint! He and his idiotic appointees did not even read the Arizona immigration law before they started condemning it and taking legal action against the state. That is how much respect he has for the populace of a great state in our Union. When the polls on his approval ratings continue descending, he may may a trip, but lie and say he did it on his own and for the insignificant residents of Arizona.

Also he will probably turn around and blame you or President George Bush for the immigration problems in Arizona. And you know what? Some people will swallow his rhetoric (blame game) hook line and sinker.

    Wow! What a transparent presidency.

Senator McCain, I am a life-long Democrat. However, I consider you a great, dedicated, no-lies patriot.

    God help America!

I believe this border issue was also present under G W Bush's watch. Why is McCain waiting til now to raise this issue? Wasn't he also a presidential candidate during this turmoil? McCain has also been a senator for 4 or 5 terms- Why wasn't it the border issue raised then?

I think this stinks if McCain is trying to pin this issue on President Obama. Go ponder something else McCain!!!!!!!!!!!

Oh for goodness sakes. What has John McCain done to secure the borders of his state? What bill has he introduced to deal with this problem? He has been in the Senate longer, has seniority, has the momentum but has done absolutely nada. McCain has absolutely NO creditability on this or any other issue. HE LOST THE ELECTION!! Maybe he should go away and think about how to get Sarah Palin under control before she destroys the Republican Party.

Mr. President, don't listen to the ramblings of John McCain! He's the idiot that brought Patheric Palin on the scene and launched her quitting as governor of Alaska so that we would all have to suffer!

There is something really bizarre going on in Arizona. How can a state be led by such stoopid, unhinged people? Look at McCain...graduate last in his class. Governor Brewer cannot even articulate a correct grammatical sentence. Then there is the Sheriff and the Senator, not to mention Tancredo....

Without nepotism, the trash that holds public office in Arizona would be nowhere. And for McCain, he lost the election. Now he should live with Palin–a product of McCain's stoopidity.

Here is some food for thought McCain. Why is Mexico steeped in this war on its very own people? It is because of drugs and the demand of those drugs here in this country. It is time that we take control of drugs in this country to deminish the demand from Mexico, make them legal and control them at a federal level. Put the drug lords out of buisness once that is done you will see people will no longer have to fear them.

"28,000 Mexican citizens being killed, the murders taking place just south of our border" John McCain you should be ashame of your self for tell such a big lie. Better yet, why don't you tell the President of Mexico about all these killing, he can do some thing about them, not President Obama, Oh, I know you what to start another war, don't you? Well it not going to happen. You look just like a fool and you act like one.

  18. Lousy Biased Coverage

What McCain says is true that Obama and even Napolitano are oblivious. It seems Obama is more content having his DOJ and Holder suing Arizona into oblivion rather than act as if he is their President too rather than an enemy. I sometimes wonder whether they are more concerned for the "upset feelings" of illegals rather than the safety of the actual citizens. It is obvious they are willing to sue Arizona for trying to help enforce the laws while ignoring California and trying to work out a compromise and help Sanctuary Cities break the laws with DOJ assistance.

Isn't it ironic that during the years hs party controlled everything there was no interest in the border. I've lived in AZ and CA for 27 of the last 31 years and illegals have been a way of life here. In AZ we have an employer sanctions law, but nobody wants to enforce that law and put an end to the reason the illegals come here; work and a better life. If there were no work it would solve the problem. As usual it politically expeditent to go after the symptom (poor brown people)instead of the cause (affluent white business owners).

  20. Republicans Are The American Taliban

If "anybody hasn't seen what's going on south of our border, they have been oblivious to the terrible, terrible struggle that's going on down there – 28,000 Mexican citizens being killed, the murders taking place just south of our border, the invasions and the insecurity in the southern part of our state," the Arizona senator said on "Fox News Sunday."

Same is happening just south of the Canadian border John...

Illegal immigration is down since President Obama has been in office. False and fictitious stories perpetuated by right-wing fear-mongers is on the rise however.

Well McCain it appears the situation on the border has been wholly misrepresented by the Republicans down there. This has become quite obvious through Janet Brewer's own statements about beheadings and immigrant drug mules. She held steadfast to those statements even in the presence of facts that completely discredit them. She FINALLY, after months of ignoring the evidence, said she was wrong but only about the beheadings. This would not have happened if she did make her HUGE blunder at her first debate.

So we can't be sure of anything the GOP or their media says about this issue OR really any others. They exaggerate the situation if not outright lie about them for simple political gain at the expense of the American people.

The Arizona law really is a prime example of this and should be a siren call to those who view themselves as conservative. Do you want to gain control if it's built on lies??
