Washington (CNN) - The man who engineered President Obama's 2008 victory told CNN on Sunday he thinks Democrats can retain control of both houses of Congress in November.
David Plouffe, now an outside adviser to the president, tossed a quick answer over his shoulder when CNN asked him outside of NBC's Washington studios about the tough climate for Democrats running in the midterms elections.
"I think so," Plouffe said. "We're going to work hard to make sure we do."
When asked how the political climate got so bad for Democrats, Plouffe kept walking but turned to our camera to offer CNN a wave and smile. In an interview on NBC's "Meet the Press", Plouffe said Democrats' success in November will hinge on localizing the races and increasing Democratic turnout.
Yes we need dem. Or we're looking at no ss. No Heath care. And under the control what the big Corp. Want. We are talking about dictor gov. What best for corporations and no cares about the working class. Except in making them monies and their profit margin. That why I was let go from a co. 2 in 1/2 months so I wouldn't get the insurance when they found out I've been paying 2500 a month on my own. Thank u Corp. Amercia
Democrats better come out and vote in November or we'll be right back where we started with the Republicans who got us into this mess.
This guy couldn't convince the dead on the way forward this morning on Meet The Depressed. He was on TV was blaming Bush. He forgot to mention that the democrats had control of congress since 2007 and did nothing.
Most folks can see the Republicans for what they are and will vote to maintain Democratic control of the House and Senate.
The Republican Party has been taken over by corporate interests and big-money families, like the Koch brothers. These billionaires and others like them (Dick Armey and his bunch come to mind) are who have been funding so-called "grassroots" organizations like the Tea Party and the birthers.
Because think about it: How is it that suddenly a bunch of "average" retired Americans can afford to travel around the country on luxury tour buses? Do you know how much those buses cost? We're talking hundreds of thousands of dollars to buy and/or rent them and their drivers.
Do you really think the money is coming from small donors?
Big corporations are behind all these "movements" and trust me, they are laughing at all the suckers who buy into their scare tactics.
Six months ago it was considered a joke to suggest the "dying Republican party" could even threaten a Democrat House.... now they are pulling a Harry Reid pleading all is not lost..........
Confronted with the reality of todays republican party, and their failure to present any viable options for our future, I do agree with Plouffe.
Will the republican party embrace clean energy as a means to rebuild our manufacturing base? Unlikely, big oil, the gops benefactors won't allow it.
Will the republican party truly work to balance the budget, or will they insist on borrowing more from the chinese to finance the extension of the bush tax cuts for the top 2%? The rich will get their tax cuts.
Has the republicans party done anything constructive to reduce the unemployment rate that their failed ideology fostered? Nope. They've been standing on the sidelines acting like spoiled children willing the president to fail. The problem is that their stranding the millions of unemployed. Will the 6.2 million long term unemployed see hope in the republican party? Doubtful.
Do the republicans offer anything in terms of constructive plans for rebuilding our economy and strengthening the working class? Short of cuts in services for the working class, they rarely if ever mention the working class at all – much less in a positive manner.
You have to give people something to vote FOR – at this point, the republicans have not done so. I think most will think and vote with their heads and their own personal best interests rather than with their emotions.
This country can't financially handle another republican run. The dems need to speak on behalf of their accomplishments and all they've done to improve the future for the working class – and true deficit reduction (health care reform). The republicans are counting on the stupidity of the american voter – they have for years. It's evident in their constant claims of fiscal conservatism and small government – they've been preaching both for 30 years and have failed miserably. But we're to believe that THIS time they really mean it. Think people.
The Republicans have spent a lot of time running down the President and trying to obstruct his agenda (even when they have previously propsed the same things), but they haven't said exactly what they would do that would fix things. All they have offered is tax cuts for the wealthy and less regulation which exactly what they did before. If America votes for them with their track record and with these flimsy ideas, then all it proves is that Americans are stupid and that we will deserve what we get.
All the Dems need to do is start holding the GOBPbaggers' feet to the fire. Confront the lies from the right and let Americans see the truth: The teatards have taken over the right and no one there has any useful ideas, relying instead on their proven policy failures of the past like tax cuts for the ultrarich and deregulation.
Marge.................... Democrats won huge gains in the 2006 mid-term elections and won control of both houses. In January 2007 Bush became a lame duck president and the Republican Congress stepped down after Nancy Pelosi was sworn in as Speaker of the House, smugly proclaiming...............CORRECTLY................"We're in charge now." Bush got hammered by in the leftstream (MSM) media yet you NEVER hear of the Pelosi "We're in charge now" while Dems whine about their failures being Bush's fault!!!!!!!! Pelosi proclaimed "WE"RE IN CHARGE NOW" nearly THREE YEARS AGO yet Keynesian economics is not going as planned so the media keeps spoon feeding you its all Bush's fault now!!!!!
Bush became a lame duck President and the Republican Congress stepped down in January 2007 with a record of: 4.6% unemployment, 12,300 stock market and gas @ $2.12 per gallon. The last Republican/Bush budget deficit of FY 2007 had a deficit of approx $160 billion. Obama and Pelosi have yet to pass a budget and have a deficit of $1.3 TRILLION!!!!!
Those are FACTS that what ever MSM sources you listen to are spoon feeding you horse hockey!!
The housing meltdown seeds were planted
Be quiet Plouffe!!!!!! Fooled us once shame on you, fooled us twice shame on us so don't even open your mouth. If for some reason we at lease take some of the power off of DEMs heads.
Why is the american people so emotional. The repubs knows all theyve got to do is put a fair in the mix and theyre like puddy in their hands. When will americans knows that logics and emotion does not go together. Emotion is a quick process you want satisfaction now, it dont care about the consiquencies. Logics is a slower process you think about yesterday process it with present event and try to formulate the future. Now think where your coming from and decide if you go backward or farward america. Now think americans logics with thinking or emotion and fair with reaction. You decide!
I am not sure why any thinking human being with the right sensing will vote any republican. I have been hearing Republicans will take over both houses but can someone tell me how? Mr. President Obama is the most intelligent President US ever has. He has salvaged a free falling economy to a steady moving economy, America is once again the leader in the world stage, Middle East peace going forward, Americans now being covered on health care.. If we think of genious, I think our Mr. President is one. Who is that Republican that should actually be voted in office rather than Democrat? Days are gone when ruling depends on fire muscle. Today, you can only lead by soft approach. The hardcore firing of rifles and missiles are over.
I think this President is God given just to restore peace, humanity, and control to the US.
