(CNN) – President Barack Obama is scheduled to headline a fundraiser for Congressional Democrats later this month in New York City.
Two Democratic sources confirm to CNN that the president teams up with House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid for a joint Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee-Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee fundraiser at a New York City hotel on September 22.
Rep. Chris Van Hollen, the DCCC chairman, and Sen. Robert Menendez, the DSCC chairman, as well as members of New York State's congressional delegation are scheduled to attend the event.
As of the end of July, the DSCC had nearly $22.5 million cash on hand, slightly ahead of their GOP counterpart, National Republican Senatorial Committee. The DCCC had $35.8 million in the bank, nearly $14 million more than the National Republican Congressional Committee.
