Secretary of State Hillary Clinton on Wednesday slammed a Florida pastor for his ‘disgraceful’ plan to burn the Quran on the anniversary of 9/11.

Washington (CNN) – Secretary of State Hillary Clinton used a foreign policy talk to weigh in on hot button political issues Wednesday, slamming a Florida pastor for his "disgraceful" plan to burn the Quran and strongly criticizing George W. Bush's fiscal record.

Clinton warned about the long-term consequences of rising federal budget deficits, arguing that they will eventually diminish U.S. power and impair America's ability to act effectively in the global arena.

Her remarks came during an appearance before the non-partisan Council on Foreign Relations.

Clinton noted that Terry Jones, the Florida pastor, is the head of a small congregation, and said she wished his plans to burn the Quran on the anniversary of the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks hadn't attracted so much media attention. But sadly, "that's the world we live in right now," she said.

  1. Did you Know That the Gallup Poll Yesterday Said that last weeks Widely-Reported 10 Point G.O.P. Lead was now . . .

    ZERO

That's because republican cowards are unwilling to go after pastor nut-job.

Stop the burning, shut down the church and jail pastor Jones.

Let the ACLU bail out his sorry butt (Now wouldn't that be ironic)

Republicans must be all for this open anti-Muslim activity, their silence is deafening. Why is it that when we have American Muslim soldiers fighting in Afghanistan that the party that claims to "support the troops" won't speak up on this loon from Florida?

How else does one who has personal contact with 'Jesus' exploit the issue of the evil 'Islam' to his preconceived minion flock-
but to expose his bigotry and hatred for his fellow man by burning the holy book of another man's religious ideology.

What a sham of an impostor man of the cloth and should be defrocked and a typically GOP hypocrite preacher!!!

To have the gall to endanger our troops, step on first amendments rights of another belief system and all of this in the name of 'Jesus'.

Hillary Clinton is correct. Is this what we've been reduced to?

It's not just these fools in Gainesville – this runs deeper. Half-wit birthers, oggling on about their stupid claims that Obama was born outside the US, the ground zero mosque debate in NY, the idiot young person stabbing a New York City taxi driver? Where does it end???

My fear is that many people are TOO STUPID to realize that Al Quaida is laughing at us – burning the Quran, the irrational (bigoted) debate against the New York City mosque – this is EXACTLY the reaction that Al Quaida wanted when they launched 9/11's attacks, so why grant those criminals another victory?

While I don't agree with the demonstration, I recognize their right to do so. With that said, I think it's also a huge mistake for Clinton to call the event disgraceful. I don't recall seeing such comments when liberals protested at the funerals of our soldiers. Which to me was a much more disgraceful action. It seems Democrats are more concerned how other countries view our nation, than they do of our own citizens.

What is important and has not been mentioned is she slammed obamas spending today saying it was a threat to our national security and international relations. Looks like she is distancing herself from obummer and may challenge him in 2012. I hope she goes for it.

Burning a copy of the Koran is an expression of opinion that is protected by the First Amendment and cannot be curtailed by the government. It's also wrong, indecent, and insensitive.

Building a mosque adjacent to Ground Zero is an expression of religion that is protected by the First Amendment and cannot be curtailed by the government. It's also wrong, indecent, and insensitive.

    Hey, let's make a deal......

The "pastor(?)" in FL has to be totally ignorant. As a "pastor" he should know that there are good apples and bad apples in every society, city, state, country, religion, etc....you name it. There always has been and will be forevermore. Hopefully, there are only good apples in his church, and they will not be a part of this stupid behavior.
