Washington (CNN) – Tim Kaine, the chairman of the Democratic National Committee, kicked off the 2010 campaign season Wednesday morning in Pennsylvania, lambasting the Republican Party and Minority Leader John Boehner in a highly partisan speech.
Kaine's address stuck to a script likely to be repeated by Democratic office seekers all over the nation as the midterm elections approach, as he ticked off the legislative accomplishments of President Obama and the Democratically controlled Congress.
But Kaine did go after House Minority Leader John Boehner, saying he is already "measuring the drapes."
"[L]et's look no further than the man who is already measuring the drapes for the Speaker's office, Minority Leader John Boehner, for how Republicans would govern and what their priorities would be," Kaine said. "Just recently Mr. Boehner led Republican opposition to legislation to help states facing tough times keep teachers, firefighters, and police on the job."
That jab seems to be part of a concerted effort to target the Republican leader who is in line to become House Speaker if Republicans seize control of Congress. President Obama, delivering a speech Wednesday in Parma, Ohio, also had harsh words for Boehner.
Boehner wasn't the only Republican that Kaine targeted. Also on the hit list were Republican Pennsylvania Senate hopeful Pat Toomey, as well as Tea Party favorites Ken Buck of Colorado, Joe Miller of Alaska, Sharron Angle of Nevada and Rand Paul of Kentucky, who are all seeking Senate seats.
I don't care which party is in power... I am tired of them taking my money and giving to someone else all to get a vote! The GOP does it...and the Democrats do it, too! And neither party is in any position to question the other party's fical policies... they both are making everyone, including big biz, dependent on them for their very survival...
In November vote 'em all out! No more "lifers" in DC... it is the only way to end this crap...
If you have no solutions or what you have accomplished doesn't work then blame the other guy. The dems are affraid to talk about what they have done because most of the country dosen't like what has been passed.
It's about time the democratic party quit being polite and call these progress blockers what they are.
The term "socialist utopia" is an oxymoron.
Tim, just tell the truth about the Repulsive Republicans. They almost destroyed every Americans life savings and the country economically. Now they want a second chance to try again and do it right this time!!
It is time the Democratic Party calls-out the Republicans for their untruthful statements. We are not a socialist utopia – this is a country that used to show concern for all the citizens. The R's are only interested in the "upper crust" and vote "No" on everything for the average person. Name one thing the Republicans have done for the average man during the 8 years Bush/Cheney were in office. In President Obama we have an intelligent, educated man who has tried to do what is right for this county, who inherited a horrible mess from Bush and who has met with total obstructionist behavior from all Republicans. The R's will vote against anything that will help the country to make the President fail. It is time all Democrats stand up, call-out each Republican semi-lie, sort of lie and down-right lie. I am at the point that observing the behavior of the Republicans, this is the first time I have been ashamed of my country.
