Ad wars over governorships heats up

Washington (CNN) - It's often overshadowed by the battle for control of Congress, but the Democratic and Republican parties are ramping up their efforts in the crucial fight for control of the nation's governorships.

The Republican Governor's Association announced that they launched new commercials in Ohio, Wisconsin, Oklahoma, Maine and Michigan Wednesday and Thursday. The governorships in all five states are currently held by Democrats. And the RGA confirms that it's also donating $500,000 to Susana Martinez, the GOP gubernatorial nominee in New Mexico - another state where the Democrats are fighting to hold onto a governors' office.

Meanwhile the Democratic Governors Association is up with a new ad taking on Martinez, the Dona Ana County district attorney. The DGA is also running a new commercial in Ohio, as well as in Vermont and Maine.

While the battle for control of Congress dominates the headlines, the fight for the governorships is extremely important. Next year governors will have a big say in how the new Census numbers are used to alter congressional districts in their states.

Voters in 37 states cast ballots for governor this November.

  1. President Obozo: On vacation and OUT TO LUNCH

If you think that you can have free lunch after free lunch then you are a DemocRAT. If you think that there are no free lunches then you are a Republican.

    The choice is simple.

If you want more fiscal insanity and ultimately bankruptcy, vote for DemocRATS. If you want a return to fiscal responsibility and living within your means, vote for Republicans.

  2. Randolph Carter, I'm no expert, but...

If you think you deserve to have all the money and the little people get the leftover crumbs, then you're a republican.

Hey, Prez Obozo, what about the people who inherit huge amounts of money and don't work for it? Are they leeches too? Have a nice day!

To President Obozo. . . who posted @12:43

If you want your lunch bucket given to a wealthy person, vote for a republican. If you want to redistribute the American taxes to the wealthiest 2%, vote republican. If you want American to become a third world country and oppose all measures that would help all citizens, vote republican. If you like unfunded wars and growing government, vote republican. If you like the Bush preemptive war doctrine, vote republican. If you like torture and rendition, vote republican. If you want to drive the economy to brink of a great depression, vote republican. If you want to give President Obama a $10.6 trillion debt, vote republican.

I forgot to add, if you are completely incapable of thinking and accept as the gospel what Fox tells you to post, you belong in the republican party. They are the only media source that does not fact check.

Funny...every time I try to give Bush "alot of credit" for getting us to exactly where we are today, I cause a bunch of conservatives to cry, wet their pants mid-tantrum and then eat a kitten. But it's true. In fact, some would say that his brilliant tax cuts and borrowing from China while negligently applying regulatory oversight to Wall Street and the oil industry...they deserve almost ALL the "credit" for where we are right now. So, kudos to the Bushtard and Cheneybot.

    BTW

GOPers/Teatards: "Stop them from sending our jobs overseas and outsourcing our economy into obvliion!!!" (to be fair, this pretty much applies across the board actually...I've met very few from either side who love that jobs keep disappearing to slave labor in India, etc., but you definitely hear a lot of conservatives yelling this)

Obama: "I'm going to close the tax loopholes that encourage US based companies to send our jobs overseas and outsource our economy into oblivion!!!"

    GOPers/Teatards: "But that's raising taxes!!!"

Obama: "Not really, and anyway, I've offered offsetting tax credits for small business R&D and innovation and for capital expenditures for equipment and for hiring...not to mention tried to get legislation to pump capital into small business lending."

    GOPers/Teatards: "No you didn't!!!"

Obama: "Yes I did...it's right here in writing and was reported all over the papers and news channels."

GOPers/Teatards: "You're a 'muslin' socialist and were born in Kenya!!!"

Obama: "OK...well then...I'm done trying to deal with you people rationally."

GOPers/Teatards: "He won't give us a seat at the table and lied about bipartisanship!!!"

And so it goes...same pattern every time. It doesn't matter what Obama does...they just don't like the "(D)" after his name or the afro on his head.

If you're rich, vote Republican, we only care about the rich and investing in overseas companies that employ people for less pay and more profit for the rich. If you're poor stay poor and jobless or move overseas.

"If you want more fiscal insanity and ultimately bankruptcy, vote for DemocRATS. "

Actually, the GOP's stated plan for January if they win the House is to purposefully propose an appropriations bill that will, essentially, bankrupt the federal government by defunding giant portions of it. The clear goal is to force Obama to veto, then refuse to propose anything else and thereby essentially defund the ENTIRE federal government and blame it all on Obama. One must wonder why people like yourself pretend to be so concerned about the bankrupting of the federal government when it has been the GOP's obvious quest for nigh on 5-6 decades...particularly after 1964. Complain all you want about "spending us into bankruptcy" and refuse to take the time to actually understand the budget if you'd like...I really don't care. One would think the teatard crowd would be slap-happy about the federal government failing completely, the way they go on about small government and acting like the Constitution prevents the federal government from doing, well, pretty much anything it's been doing for 200+ years. Just admit you want to shred the Constitution and go back to statehood-only existence and you can end the charade.

But what the "conservative" community really needs to stop doing is pretending that reducing tax rates (i.e., the federal government's income source) to the lowest levels since the early 20th century...cuts which overwhelmingly benefitted people who are already extremely wealthy...somehow didn't generate the single biggest contributing factor to the national debt and deficit. They are. It's not even close to debateable, because it's MATH (so cry me a river). Coupled with Bush's borrowing for Iraq and Afghanistan (which, btw, he would not have needed to do if the GOP left the tax rates at Clinton-era levels), it's not "spending" that's putting the country into bankruptcy: it's the GOP's purposeful attempts to kill the federal government by attenuating its income...all so they can attempt to blame the Dems for the horrifying outfall. They're sick of civil rights, environmental protection, regulated investment and financing transactions, regulation of oil and gas, medicare/caid and social security, etc. They want the federal government to do one thing and one thing only...provide them with a military with which to attempt everything Ike warned us about.

  17. The RepubliCANT Party: OUT TO DINNER on the backs of the Middle Class

If you think that the weathy can have free lunch after free lunch than you are a RepubliCANT, If you think that the wealthy should pay their fair share, like working Americans then you are a Democratic supporter.

    The choice is simple

If you want more corporate welfare, less regulation of multi-nationals, and ultimately a plutocracy of the rich, vote for RepubliCANTS. If you want a return to fiscal responsibility and not the end of the middle class, vote for Democrats.
