Washington (CNN) - Nearly nine years after the September 11 terror attacks, a record number of Americans believe the United States is unlikely to ever capture or kill Osama bin Laden, according to a new national poll.

A CNN/Opinion Research Corporation survey released Thursday reveals that only 36 percent think the country is safer from terrorism than it was before the 2001 attacks.

Nearly two-thirds of Americans, however, are not personally worried about becoming a victim of terrorism. And most say they are prepared to deal with an attack if the worst should happen.

While the federal government has given no indication that it has stopped its pursuit of the man behind the September 11 attacks, only 30 percent of Americans now believe it is likely the U.S. government will ever capture or kill bin Laden. Sixty-seven percent believe it is unlikely.

We had our chance at Bin Laden and Bush – Cheney cancelled the attacks. Interesting move for our "Commander In Chief" the draft dodging President and Vice President.

No, we will never catch him. We had multiple times when he had him trapped by Special Forces but Bush and Cheney told the soldiers to stand down.

If Bin Laden had been captured then Bush and Cheney would have had no justification to invade Iraq to steal oil or no face of terrorism to use for their war mentality.

Bush and Cheney are war criminals who should have been impeached and then handed over to the Hague for international war crimes for torture and defying the UN order not to attack Iraq.

Bush and Cheney love Bin Laden for he was their ticket to a fraudulent war and fear-mongering here in America.

On September 12th 2001, the CIA and NSA KNEW where Bin Laden was! IN Afghanistan! BUT...... Bush & DICK, really wanted the OIL in Iraq. SO they sent 100's of thousands of American Troops to Iraq and not Afghanistan. In the meantime, Bin Laden moved out of Afghanistan.

Bush & Dick should have sent every single Troop we had to storm Afghanistan on September 12th, and captured Bin Laden, but no....... oil......was more important.

America when you vote in NOvember ask yourself: What have the Republicans done for America?

    THANKS BUSH!

Bin Laden is about 10 times smarter, faster and more intelligent than
The FBI, CIA, NSA and the top military "intelligence" services put
together. Which of course is a major embarrasment and disaster for
    the country.
Obama ought to find a real genius son of a b. to do that job. And keep
it totally secret from everybody, including the FBI, CIA, etc.
Maybe he is already doing that.
    Fat chance.

He doesn't need to be caught! He's at 1600 Pennsylvania Ave. Just traded the towel for a suit.

I agree that Bush & Cheney let bin Laden escape, because they needed a boogeyman; if bin Laden had been caught, Americans would have demanded we leave Afghanistan and would not have tolerated the invasion of Iraq.

That said, I do believe bin Laden will at some point be captured. And I have confidence that doing so is a priority of President Obama.

I am starting realize that the events of September 11th was false flag terrorism. An event used to push this country to war for the benefit of war profiteers like the Carlyle Group...

but what are ya gonna do about it?
