Palin, Beck team up on 9/11 event

Sarah Palin and Glenn Beck will appear together at an event in Alaska on September 11.
Sarah Palin and Glenn Beck will appear together at an event in Alaska on September 11.

(CNN) - After a wildly successful rally on the National Mall, Sarah Palin and Glenn Beck are teaming up again - but this time for a cost.

The two conservative rock-stars are set to appear together in Alaska on the ninth anniversary of the September 11 attacks in an event that costs a minimum of $65 to attend.

"We can count on Glenn to make the night interesting and inspiring, and I can think of no better way to commemorate 9/11 than to gather with patriots who will 'never forget,'" said Palin on her Facebook page earlier this week. "Hope to see you there!"

But in sharp contrast to the free event in Washington last month, tickets to this latest Palin-Beck affair run as high as $225 – a price tag that some Democrats are making hay about given the somber timing of the event.

But Christopher Cox, the Anchorage-based promoter of the event, told the Anchorage Daily News the date is purely coincidental and was originally scheduled for a week earlier.

Still, Cox said he understands the significance of the timing.

"You know what, it's a great date for me, for America, for Alaska," he said.

A Beck spokesperson says Sarah Palin is not receiving an appearance fee, and Beck is donating his to charity.

"Glenn had always intended to donate the speaking fee from the event on Saturday, September 11th in Alaska to Special Operations Warrior Foundation. Governor Palin is not and was never going to receive a fee for introducing Glenn at this event," a spokesperson for Glenn Beck told CNN.

Event organizers say the 4,000 seat venue is nearly sold out.

The right-wingers are showing their true colors by trying to profit off of 9/11. Sickening.

I'm seeing a trend here. The date is coincidental, just like Beck's rally was coincidentally scheduled on 8-28.

They simply are trying to take advantage of the tailwind of 9/11. How much you want to wager the speakers will talk about how our leaders have forgotten 9/11?

It's a given that Sarah "It'll Cost Ya" Palin will be compensated; she does NOT make free appearances!!

Wildly successful? Really? They asked for a permit for 300,000 and only 80-90,000 actually turned up.

I understand that CNN want to create a story but there is nothing here but a couple of lunatics engaging in some self-congratulating,

My rear end the date is coincidental. If the date was originally September 4th and needed to be bumped back, they could have done it on the 18th. Between Beck's rally of idiots on the MLK anniversary and now he and Palin hosting a celebration on 9/11, it's becoming fairly obvious to everyone outside their circle of ignorant supporters that Beck, Palin et al have no real regard for the things that matter to most Americans and will use any opportunity they can get to boost their ego and make a few bucks. At least their 9/11 party is in a part of the country that no one cares about.

Hasn't everyone figured out that Palin and Beck are media tycoons out to make money off of peoples emotions. They are both quite boring.

Sure...let's make a profit off of 9/11. This "Patriot" stuff really bugs me. I'm as much if not more of a "Patriot" than either of these 2 lying morons will ever be and so are a lot of folks that don't believe in the way of the tea party or the GOP. At least the rest of us don't talk about how wonderful our constitution is and then try and change it every chance they can when it's just not convenient for them...bunch of rich phonies duping a bunch of stupid white trash.

REALLY? Another event, with Glenn Beck, that just happen to coinicde with an important date, that NO ONE can forget? AND, we are expected to believe that it was not intentional? SO SICK of this...truly. But, what concerns me more, is the millions upon millions who will follow...and believe this BS!

"The date is purely coincidental," Didn't we hear this exact same crap about the timing of their Washington rally that just happened to take place on the anniversary of the MLK I have a dream speech? You have to be extremely gullible or simply a complete moron to believe anything these two opportunistic liars say. Pay if you like but, the writing is clearly on the wall, It's all about the money.

Obama couldn't get 1200 people to attend his rally in Ohio for free so they had to go around the campus and beg students to show up.

Beck and Palin are selling out places.

It is a Beck event and not a Palin event.

How can Glenn go to a socialist state like Alaska? They receive almost 5 dollars for every tax dollar they send to Washington DC. Talk about a socialist redistribution of the wealth. Did God speak to Glenn about this and get the OK?

Also, shouldn't he be careful about being seen with a person who had an African minister cast out her witches, because the minister might still have missed one?

If you believe the choice of date is not a deliberate effort to cash in on one of America's great tragedies, I have a bridge in Brooklyn to sell you. It is ironic the people who oppose the Mosque near ground zero are so willing to use "nine eleven" for raising cash. Who is dissing the 3000 dead more, people building a house of worship, or money grubbers?

So, according to the promoter, having a 9/11 event on 9/11 is purely coincidental?
