Palin, Beck team up on 9/11 event

Sarah Palin and Glenn Beck will appear together at an event in Alaska on September 11.
Sarah Palin and Glenn Beck will appear together at an event in Alaska on September 11.

(CNN) - After a wildly successful rally on the National Mall, Sarah Palin and Glenn Beck are teaming up again - but this time for a cost.

The two conservative rock-stars are set to appear together in Alaska on the ninth anniversary of the September 11 attacks in an event that costs a minimum of $65 to attend.

"We can count on Glenn to make the night interesting and inspiring, and I can think of no better way to commemorate 9/11 than to gather with patriots who will 'never forget,'" said Palin on her Facebook page earlier this week. "Hope to see you there!"

But in sharp contrast to the free event in Washington last month, tickets to this latest Palin-Beck affair run as high as $225 – a price tag that some Democrats are making hay about given the somber timing of the event.

But Christopher Cox, the Anchorage-based promoter of the event, told the Anchorage Daily News the date is purely coincidental and was originally scheduled for a week earlier.

Still, Cox said he understands the significance of the timing.

"You know what, it's a great date for me, for America, for Alaska," he said.

A Beck spokesperson says Sarah Palin is not receiving an appearance fee, and Beck is donating his to charity.

"Glenn had always intended to donate the speaking fee from the event on Saturday, September 11th in Alaska to Special Operations Warrior Foundation. Governor Palin is not and was never going to receive a fee for introducing Glenn at this event," a spokesperson for Glenn Beck told CNN.

Event organizers say the 4,000 seat venue is nearly sold out.

Hmmm... wonder what other human tragedies that two could profit off of?

Looks like Howdy Doody and Princess Summerfall Winterspring unite for one more show. Too bad that the foreign Fox billionaire (Phineas T. Bluster) opted out of the love fest.

The families of the 9/11 victims had asked both the pro and anti mosque people to not hold any rallies on 9/11 out of respect. Leave it to these two lame brains to think they are self important enough that this is ok for them to do.

Thanks CNN for making Beck/Palin headline news. I love them and I know your loony liberal readers hate them!

If Palin becomes the President, she would be great at beating up the liberal press.

I can't wait to see some of the comments regarding this post. Mentioning Beck and Palin in the story will drive the kooks on the left crazy. Let the hatred begin!!!!

It's pretty sad to see 9/11 being used as a fundraising tool instead of a day of solemn rememberance...

A bit odd that the adament right wing christian conservative would team up with the morman in a show of solidarity. I personally am not influenced by religion, but don't these two have different views about how everyone should be living their lives? Apparently, if getting your face on national TV and raking in some cash is involved, these two have no problem putting their (and I use this term loosely) "values" aside for the almighty buck. You can rest assured, neither one of them is doing it without compensation.

Just another publicity stunt from the small minded right!

I guess Bush, Cheney, Rupert Murdoch benefitted financially from 9/11 for years. Why not these two sleazebags?

Making money out of an American tragedy. Is this the new patriotism that the golden couple are inventing now ? Probably in Alaska they really feel like part of Russia.... only bark and bark and in concrete nothing decent or worth to say. The year is still young and God knows what else these two will bring up. If America embrace their message , maybe they will deserve the consequences. Then, Don't cry for me A...........

Returning from a major geek convention recently attended by 20 – 30,000 superheroes, anime characters, steampunks and various "socially weird" folk, you come across an article like this and have to ask yourself, "Why do people think I'm a freak?"

"We can count on Glenn to make the night interesting and inspiring, and I can think of no better way to commemorate 9/11 than to gather with patriots who will 'never forget,'" said Palin...

But....I thought they said the date was coincidental.

Event Promoter: "The timing is purely coincidental"

How is it coincidental having a 9/11 commemoration event on, um, SEPTEMBER 11TH???

Everybody lies in politics, but the tea baggers don't even try to hide it. That's why their followers need to have an IQ of less than 70 to hold any kind of faith in them.
