Palin, Beck team up on 9/11 event

Sarah Palin and Glenn Beck will appear together at an event in Alaska on September 11.
Sarah Palin and Glenn Beck will appear together at an event in Alaska on September 11.

(CNN) - After a wildly successful rally on the National Mall, Sarah Palin and Glenn Beck are teaming up again - but this time for a cost.

The two conservative rock-stars are set to appear together in Alaska on the ninth anniversary of the September 11 attacks in an event that costs a minimum of $65 to attend.

"We can count on Glenn to make the night interesting and inspiring, and I can think of no better way to commemorate 9/11 than to gather with patriots who will 'never forget,'" said Palin on her Facebook page earlier this week. "Hope to see you there!"

But in sharp contrast to the free event in Washington last month, tickets to this latest Palin-Beck affair run as high as $225 – a price tag that some Democrats are making hay about given the somber timing of the event.

But Christopher Cox, the Anchorage-based promoter of the event, told the Anchorage Daily News the date is purely coincidental and was originally scheduled for a week earlier.

Still, Cox said he understands the significance of the timing.

"You know what, it's a great date for me, for America, for Alaska," he said.

A Beck spokesperson says Sarah Palin is not receiving an appearance fee, and Beck is donating his to charity.

"Glenn had always intended to donate the speaking fee from the event on Saturday, September 11th in Alaska to Special Operations Warrior Foundation. Governor Palin is not and was never going to receive a fee for introducing Glenn at this event," a spokesperson for Glenn Beck told CNN.

Event organizers say the 4,000 seat venue is nearly sold out.

If someone has been stupid enough to believe that the actions of Sarah Palin and Glenn Beck have been about political beliefs and ideas, this should convince them that both of them are there for the money and nothing else.

These two Anti-Christ and emotionally-charged individuals have absolutely no shame in exploiting such a solemn day. They will do anything and everything for a buck. How sad that so many are falling for their ill propaganda.

The date is "purely coincidental"? Just the date of Martin Luther King Jr.'s speech. Nonsense. These people shamelessly contradict themselves so often how can anyone believe anything they say? If you're fooled by this I have a bridge to sell you. And how is this a "great date" for America? Where's the money going?

What's with CNN's obsession with this woman? She has no political power, most of the populace thinks she's not very bright, and she's nothing more than a failed governor who's a paid speaker. For the love of god, please stop covering her every move!!!

How depressing to know there are that many people(almost sold out) here who would pay to see two of the right wing hate mongers together spewing their hate, violence and bigotry. It makes me ashamed to be an Alaskan, but I for one wouldn't walk across the street to see these vile people if they paid me the front row price. Go back to Methville where you belong Sarah and take Glenn with you.

Great news!. I hope they team up for the 2012 Republican ticket. It will all but insure a Democratic victory. It is interesting how they think they have the market on patriotism. Just talk about God and supporting our troops and all will fall in line. What charlatans! This ilk of the GOP will ultimately bring it down as most Americans will be sickened by the lies and falsehoods that are spread. So – keep it up Glenn and Sarah.

"Purely coincidental date"?? Coincidentally, we haven't seen Trigg's birth certificate...

    "Wildly successful"?

You mean in terms of getting a hundred thousand idiots to pump their money directly into the oil companies for the gas to drive to DC and back to listen to a couple hours of empty, chest-thumping platitudes?

Or do you mean "wildly successful" in terms of getting all these idiots to publicly self-identify and claim pride in their idiocy?

Left to its own devices, obstinacy, like cancer, is self-perpetuating.

check that – $225, not $225k top price to get in the room...the rest of my comment stands. Hey – how badly does it look like Glenn wants to 'get a piece' off Sarah in that picture?

They just keep forgetting the significance of certain dates. Amazing. I'm betting they choose Easter to commemorate Glenn's ascension to sit by the right hand of God, claiming it was just a coincidence and had been planned for years.

A Tea Party ticket of Palin/Beck in 2012. You betcha.

To wrap yourself in the flag on this sorrowful day under the guise of "patriotism" all while holding your hand out for PAYMENT!!

One day they'll get what they deserve – disgrace.

"I can think of no better way to commemorate 9/11 than to gather with patriots who will 'never forget,'" said Palin ." How does this work with
'the date is purely coincidental and was originally scheduled for a week earlier." hmmm...nothing coincidental about this. Shame on Palin and Beck for using a day of national mourning as a $225/head tea party rally.

It is truly amazing how these two opportunists (Glenn Beck and Sarah Palin) have worked out what appears to be a highly successful tactic of "ginning up" their mostly elderly followers to fleece them out of so much money. The truth is that for many of these elderly Americans these rallies and conventions are a way to get out and to socialize and remanise about days gone by. Both Glenn Beck and Sarah Palin have tapped into this and are milking it before their 15 minutes are up. Although both have been portrayed as not being too bright, or portrayed as being wacky – they know exactly what they are doing they are "as dumb as foxes"

    Unbelievable !!

PS: The closest thing to "rock stars" that these people have are the
rocks rattling around in their pea sized brains. If you want to
raise the status of people because they can "make a lot of money" and
soak the ignorant, go right ahead. And if they think we believe the date
is "purely coincidental", well they can forget that. To make money on
the saddest day in American History is crass, clueless, and greedy.

"It remains unclear if Beck or Palin are being compensated for their appearance"...that is laughable!

I doubt they would offer and do anything free of charge!

These Fox News baffoons make me sick.
They represent what is wrong in America, including Alaska!
