Officials: Goolsbee to get key economic post at White House

Austan Goolsbee will be named chairman of the White House Council of Economic Advisers.
Austan Goolsbee will be named chairman of the White House Council of Economic Advisers.

Washington (CNN) - President Obama could announce as early as Friday morning that he will tap Austan Goolsbee to be chairman of the White House Council of Economic Advisers, according to two senior administration officials familiar with the announcement.

Goolsbee will replace Christina Romer, who stepped down earlier this month as chairwoman of the CEA, a panel of three White House officials who offer the president economic advice and help formulate policy. Goolsbee and Cecilia Rouse are the other two members.

It's a crucial job as the Obama administration continues to try and dig out of the worst recession since the Great Depression on the eve of a midterm election in which Democrats find the economic anxiety threatening their majorities in the House and Senate.

Sarah Palin's endorsements always help me choose who "not" to vote for, or to support.

Hope this guy has some common sense of economics, obama, pelosi and reid have proven that a first grader has more sense about money than they do. They couldn't manage a lemonade stand and turn a profit. Yet they continue to get the ignorant to adore them.

Whitehouse council of economic advisors? What a joke! Are these the same boobczars that have advised Bozo to waste taxpayer money like a crack addict with Daddy's checkbook? Goolsbee is just another Liberal idiot without a clue.

It does not matter whom President Obama appoints as ecomonic advisers. As long as the President's ultimate economic agenda is "to spread the wealth around," there will be no economic recovery.
There can be a revolutionary theft, but no economic recovery will result, because theft does not cause industry.
A thief does not steal and then produce his own wealth: a thief steals and then looks for something else to steal until there is nothing left to steal.
No economic adviser can help President Obama, unless he abandons his revolutionary intention to destroy accumulated wealth.

Don't know much about him, but if Obama appoints him, he has got to be a corrupt, slimy, incompetent, inept union toady like himself and the rest of his administration.

Watching Romer and Orzag leave, and then seeing their comments afterwords, reminds me completely of when people started leaving the Bush administration, starting with Paul O'Neil.

This President, like Bush, apparently is getting rid of those with differing opinions and surrounding himself with yes-men.

Hope and Change has given way to More of the Same

I saw where Goolsbee was and has been an advisor on economy to Obama all along. If this is so. It just goes to show you what I'm talking about. Obama is out to destroy this country. An example is Goolsbee has really been sucessful with his advice so far. RIGHT???

Great... a guy named "Goolsbee" in charge of economics in America.

Has this goober ever actually, ya know, RAN a business?
    Ever made a payroll?
Ever go without a paycheck just to keep his business afloat?

Or did he just set up camp in academia his whole life, talkin' bout theories, like the rest of the professors riding the pine in the Obama WH?

Great... Goolsbee... I'm just filled with confidence...

There is a saying my father taught me “Those who can't do teach” and this is why our president and the now this inexperienced teacher are failures from the get go.

Oh good, another academic with no business background to steer economic policy. A country run by 1960's radical professors who's
brain cells were permanently destroyed by LSD. They can shave their beards, put away their tie-dye tea shirts, take a bath, put on a suit, but their still going to be the same socialist POS hippie radicals. CNN you suck, and so do your moderators; you ONLY post anti-conservative posts or filter most of them out, so you can try to move public opinion. It won't work because we are all onto your game. And you wonder why your TV and website viewership is so low.

We can only "hope" the "change" from Romer will be an improvement. She was a disaster, Based on her own comments at the National Press Club, she was clueless - and gave every indication this Administration is much like her.

Poor slob – doesn't realize he's stepping into a no-win situation. Once he gets a good look at the numbers, he'll be outta there faster than Romer and Orzag.

Hey Obama... why don't you just hire that vampire muppet from Sesame Street who does the counting skits? He'd go well with the rest of your Romper Room cabinet.

Christina Romer was a complete idiot. I expect this Obozo lackey to be no better. Both fools that have no grasp on reality or the way business or the economy works. Hurry November!
