(CNN) – President Barack Obama acknowledged Friday that bouncing back from the recession has been "painfully slow," but insisted that the economy continues to grow as he pushed his administration's new economic proposals at his first news conference in months.
Obama once again urged the Senate to pass his small-business jobs bill, arguing that it has been blocked by "a partisan (Republican) minority." He praised Sen. George Voinovich, R-Ohio, for announcing that he would not help GOP leaders block the bill.
Still, he said, there is "room for discussion" on competing tax plans. "If the Republican leadership is prepared to get serious ... I would love to talk to them," he told reporters at the White House.

Thanks to Obama, the stock market is up, jobs are coming back and the employment of illegal aliens had been reduced. According to the GOBPbaggers, this constitutes "failure." Well, I know real failure, and the tax cut and spend policies, along with mindless deregulation, are the definition of "failure." It's too bad the teatard believe their lies and propaganda rather than being mature and adult enough to admit their many mistakes.
Of course the economic recovery is not going to happen overnight. It took us over a decade to get into this mess and we are not going to wave a magic wand and fix it in less than two years. President Obama has stabilized the economy and there is some small growth. He is on the right track. The GOP wants to come in and un-do Wall Street reform and start giving the ultra-rich huge tax cuts again. I hope the American people are smarter than that. We have been down that road and it brought us to a recession that we are still digging our way out of. The GOP cannot speed up our economic recovery, but they can take us backwards.
Let's just get this crystal clear to everyone.......
You have control of the senate, Mr. President.... stop your feeble attempts of blaming everything that isn't going your way on everyone but yourself.... God, you're a weak president.... get a sack and step up.... and start taking some responsibility for yourself... you have no class.... no experience..... and will be so far off from being re-elected that it isn't even funny.... you fail brilliantly, good sir....

Recovery implies improvement. What's improved?
It took 10 years to destroy the economy by the republicans. Surely it's going to took more than 2 years to recover. The republicans do not want it to recover, because they want to see the president fail. People don't be fooled by the "banana in the tailpipe". Please vote to keep democrats in control. If you don't, we all are in BIG trouble!! The economy is never going to recover if the republicans keep voting NO on everything. They do not have our best interest at heart, but our PRESIDENT does. Give him a chance to help us all. Even those of you who constantly put him down. I believe in the power of prayer, and I will be praying the republicans out!! VOTE FOR DEMOCRATS!!

About half of the original Stimulus and most of the currently proposed addition are tax cuts. Tax cuts the GOP has been championing all this time. And yet the GOP still votes no. I bet that even if we let them write ALL legislation they would still vote it down just to oppose Obama and to say he didn't acdcomplish anything.

This president loves to pick a fight with the Republicans at the start of his speech and complain during the speech that the GOP blocks the things he wants to do. The GOP can't block ANYTHING, THEY DON'T HAVE THE VOTES. Obama wants to insure that there will be no bipartisanship ahead of time, then use it for a political tool.
The economic growth has been "painfully slow" in great part due to Obama's, Pelosi's and Reid's votes during Bush's Presidency when the Dems were in control. Can't blame it on the Republicans. Vote 'em in. Vote' em out.

I am so glad that Roland Martin responded to David Gergen's "boring speech" comment today. David has become so negative when it comes to President Obama and no one ever challenges him. He seems jealous of Obama – perhaps it's because he's not been called on for advice.

Economic results takes time or even years to bear intagible or tangible results. Mr President you have done a commendable job, although we are shot with jobs!!. Basically because we are hungry! we can't go to the farm and plant vegetables then wait for a couple of hours for them to grow and eat them!! imposible, we need to put the seed down the soil, water it every day, cut the weed, and finally we get the best vegee on the table!! just a simple explanation for my old grandma!!
