Schwarzenegger joke mocks Palin

California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger took a swipe at former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin on Friday.
California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger took a swipe at former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin on Friday.

(CNN) - California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger took a shot at former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin on Friday, writing that he was "looking everywhere but can't see Russia from here" as his plane flew over Alaska.

The joke is an apparent reference to Palin's now infamous – and often misquoted – answer to a foreign policy question during an interview in the run-up to the 2008 presidential election.

"Over Anchorage, AK. Looking everywhere but can't see Russia from here. Will keep you updated as search continues," Schwarzenegger joked, posting a photo along with his Twitter message.

Schwarzenegger's flight was destined for Asia, where the California governor is on a trip designed to increase trade.

Actress Tina Fey and Saturday Night Live popularized the joke through its parody of Palin, in which Fey delivered the line: "I can see Russia from my house!"

But that's not what Palin really said. The full quote came in an interview with ABC's Charlie Gibson in reaction to a question about U.S. policy toward Russia.

"They're our next door neighbors and you can actually see Russia from land here in Alaska, from an island in Alaska," Palin said.

Hey great job obama – Obama has been in office less than two years and you want him to fix GWB's eight years of f***ups overnight. You want miracles? Go to Lourdes....

As a woman you will never vote for Palin? You do realize that Palin is basically the ONLY self-made female politician in the national spotlight right now, don't you? Unlike all of those "independent liberal women", she didnt' have a wealthy/powerful husband/father to ride the coattails of like pelosi, clinton, huffington, kennedy did. Yet Palin is called the dumb one of the group by the media and robots like you believe them.
Palin ran circles around a 35-year sitting senator in front of 70 million people for 90 minutes in the VP debate (albeit joe biden), and she delivered one of the most electrifying speeches at the RNC, despite her teleprompter stalling (can you imagine if obama's stalled at DNC convention "I uuuhhhh uuuuuuuhhhhhh uuuuu). He would not be president right now if that happened.
As for her resigning as governor- what else should she have done? The 20 frivilous george soros' funded lawsuits cost her family $500,000 for a job that paid her $140,000 per year, her state millions of dollars and her staff thousands of hours to deal with them because of the way AK laws are set up. When Palin stepped down she had successfully defeated all 20 of them and there were another 20 lined up. The liberal brown shirts tried to bury her up there, but the irony in all of this is that Palin is now more powerful then ever. HA HA HA HA

I'm no fan of Palin or the republicans, but please, it's a funny remark and maybe we should all develop a better sense of humor.

    @Lcasey,

Sarah didn't cause the Republican party its credibility, first and foremost – the was initiated by the two Georges. And secondly, if I recall correctly...the Republican part chose 'her' as McCain's running mate. So, in actuality, its the Republican party's fault.

Here's the thing that's going to spin your sock around, would they have selected her over all of the other qualified leaders if they "really" wanted to win?

"What I find amusing is that Sara Palin never said that. That's Tina Feys line from SNL
Palin said.. "They're our next door neighbors and you can actually see Russia from land here in Alaska, from an island in Alaska," Palin said."

It doesn't matter; it was still a dumb, stupid answer and showed Despicable Sarah's ignorance. She sounded like a five year old. Defend her all you want – that's your right; but she's one of the dumbest people on the scene; she's so stupid, all she can do accomplish is name-calling and stupid tweets and ignorant postings on Facebook. She is the laughing stock of the USA and deserves the jokes at her expense!
