President Obama is holding a press conference Friday at the White House.

Washington (CNN) - President Obama, looking to assure the country that he's the man with an economic plan, is taking his message to the media, and ultimately, the American public.

His Friday press conference at the White House undoubtedly will focus on the economy, but other controversial topics more than likely will come up: from the Florida pastor who had threatened to burn Qurans on September 11 to the building of an Islamic center near ground zero to the possibility that chief of staff Rahm Emanuel will leave his post to run for mayor of Chicago, Illinois.

CNN takes a look at the top issues Obama is facing on the economic front before the critical midterm elections in November.

Mr. President, you have an economic plan and you're trying to help America recover. The GOP don't have a plan and they're full of nutjobs without a working braincell among them.

The evil pastor down in Florida is planning on doing something heinous - he's going to burn books. Nazis burned books. Jones has admitted that he's never read the Quran so he has NO idea what it says or how it says it. The fact he's not just burning books but burning holy books shows his depravity and evil side. Karma will get him.

If Rahn runs for mayor, I have no doubt you'll find another excellent Chief of Staff.

What SHOULD be on Barry's mind is how deplorable his economic plan has been thus far and how his socialistic strategy has enraged the American People! Every time he opens his mouth and talks about more spending, he is assuring more votes against his party. He is a poster boy for the GOP election campaign across the Country!

My Fellow Americans, Capitalism and free enterprise have failed, follow me into socialism and that way we can all be equally poor and oppressed. (Except for party members of course).

` first off, i agree with Barack Obama. He's the best president America has had so far. The economy is definitely in a great danger, and something has to be done about it .

More likely the man WITHOUT a plan... The only plan he has is to spend tons of money on his special interest groups and to pass legislation that results in more entitlements!! He did not care about creating jobs until he realized that it was going to decimate the Dems in November. He is the perfect picture of a desperate man!! November 2010 – a great month for American Taxpayers....

What is weighing on his mind is how does sell the same things that have already failed as new and improved economic policies? Perhaps the wall street meltdown was averted b TARP but the truth is everything else has failed. Why is Obama trying to sell new spending when we haven't spent Stimulus 1 yet. $50 Billion for Infrastructure??? Well wasn't that part of Stimulus 1? The expression "shooting in the dark" come to mind....maybe he"ll hit something yet.

His economic policies are destroying the economy of this country and he is the biggest threat to this great nation's national security.

  10. The reality is...

IF he was "the man with an economic plan" he wouldn't have to go around touting it – we would know. The proof is in the pudding.

More like the man with a redistribution plan and history has proved that just doesn't work. Oh wait, maybe it works in Communist China.

What is weighing on Obama as he makes his economic pitch? Maybe it is the fact that he has been wrong on every policy decision thus far and the facts show it. This administration PROMISED if the stimulus was passed unemployment would not go above 8%. Shortly thereafter the unemployment rate reached 10% and has stayed around there since without any sign of significant decrease in the near term.

So either his administration LIED to the American people or his administration has NO IDEA what they are doing!! This is not a Republican claim this is THEIR OWN CLAIM!! You decide whether they lied or they hav no idea how an economy works but neither gives any credibility to this administration or any OTHER "pitches" they claim. This president is incompetent and makes Jimmy Carter look like a genius!!

Even book burning, in light of our economy, now represents only a distraction from what President Obama has to address. He has already spoken about this distraction regarding the Quran, but he probably will continue to use it to provide night and fog for our economy, which his goals can only make worse.
It is time for President Obama's exit.

I have faith and confidence in President Obama. He's no superman and he's not God. The economy was long on it's way to what people are calling a recession...it all just open (vision to the people) when the 2008 election begun. All the mess was before President Obama had won and it came from the last administration and it's president. GOP are the reason alot of this is happen to the economy, jobs, foreclosures, etc. SO Say what you will about President Obama..I will continue to support him and this administration. DEMOCRATS ALL THE WAY IN FALL ELECTION. I'm ready to put all my enegry and support behind the President. LET'S GO....IT'LL BE ANOTHER ELECTRIC ELECTION. All that talk about the GOPs is leading in the polls...Yeah right and it's possibly they are but I'm not apart of that poll and the poll only survey certain people and parties.

    OBAMA/BIDEN 2012 :)

President Obama is doing everything he can to fix the mess left him by the very people who are now doing everything they can to stop him from fixing it. and these very same people, the REPUBLICANS, are now blaming him for not fixing it. how dumb do you have to be to not realize this country can't survive another dose of republican rule? republican fiscal policies are designed to make the rich richer and the rest of us poorer. and it works. if you want your income and lifestyle to go downhill till you are on the street, then by all means vote republican. if you want the economy to continue it's slow but sure recovery, then vote for the people who are fixing it and who saved us from a depression, the DEMOCRATS!

What's weighing in on Obama??? Maybe he's come to the realization that he's in over his head. The majority of America has.

Nothing will stand in Obama's way for his plans to turn America into a "socialist utopia" not even a massive defeat by dems inthe NOV. elections.

What's weighing on him, is he has no clue, on how to fix the jobs situation, and that is going to kill his administration, and his party.

    Good question.

I think he's thinking of golf, redesigning the west wing, where to vacation next, how to get on the idiot-friendly View and David Letterman, where his next photo op will be, how to destroy the economy slowly enough that nobody will notice until it is too late....

The man has been terrible as president. He's more excited about passing his ideological-based policies than strengthening America.

Yes, we know. He's the man with the FAILED PLAN to spend our way out of financial disaster. Why does he keep telling us the same old lies? Does he think we are all stupid?

It may not be the smart move but i wish the President would be honest with Americans and restate somethign he said in February of 2009- The old jobs aren't coming back. The old way of life has to change and that will change the future our finances.
    We are saving more- GOOD!
Frivolous excesses are a thing of the past- GOOD
    Priorities have been reset- GOOD
    short term effect- BAD
    Job recovery- slow
    Housing recovery slow
    Long term effect-A STRONGER AMERICA!
This is our future- let's get it right.
