Palin, Schwarzenegger in tweet tiff

Sarah Palin hit back at Arnold Schwarzenegger Friday on her Twitter page.
Sarah Palin hit back at Arnold Schwarzenegger Friday on her Twitter page.

(CNN) – Former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin shot back at California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger on Friday, after the former movie star poked fun at the former vice presidential nominee on his Twitter account.

As Schwarzenegger flew over the 50th state on his way to Asia for a six-day trade mission, he posted a photo of himself looking out a plane window at an Alaskan mountaintop. Alongside the picture, the governor wrote that he was "looking everywhere but can't see Russia from here."

The joke was a reference to Palin's now infamous – and often misquoted – answer to a foreign policy question during an interview in the run-up to the 2008 presidential election. Many Americans believe Palin once said "I can see Russia from my house," when in reality, the line was uttered by Tina Fey in a Saturday Night Live sketch.

On Friday afternoon, Palin hit back at Schwarzenegger and took aim the economic distress plaguing his state.

"Arnold should have landed," Palin tweeted. "I could have explained our multi-billion dollar state surplus & US energy security efforts. What's he been up to?"

Schwarzenegger's state has been drowning in debt and budget deficits for years. Alaska has a relatively healthy economy that is heavily reliant upon oil revenue and received federal stimulus dollars.

Exactly, "Alaska has been reliant on stimulus dollars." Arnold is an idiot, but Palin isn't too much brighter.

She has lied about so many things that it is difficult to keep track. Now she is suggesting that she is responsible for any success that Alaska may be experiencing then asking him "what's he been up to"? She quit more than a year ago and has spent far less time in the state than she has in the lower 48 inciting fear and hatred and lining her pockets. Did she also forget that when she quit, things were not at all that rosy in the state.

It's easy to have a surplus when you receive $1.87 in federal spending for each dollar your state pays in federal taxes. That's more than twice what California receives, so in effect California is subsidizing Alaska's "budget surplus". What a goon she is.

That multi-billion dollar surplus is a result of the Obama stimulus money Alaska took while Sarah was lambasting the president. Say "thank you Mr. President", Sarah.

No thanks to you quitter, probably more to do with the fact that the other states subsidize the crap out of Alaska.

Perhaps she could have explained to him that it was due to the massive amount of Federal tax dollars in the form of subsidies directed to Alaska during her... ahem... half a term in office.

Palin quit on the people who elected her, so has she has earned the right to criticize another governor? That won't stop her though, will it?

    Ms. Palin,

Alaska is 3rd in the country for Federal Spending Received Per Dollar of Taxes paid. In 2005, Alaska received $1.84 dollars in Federal Aide for every dollar paid in taxes. California, on the other hand, received only $.78 in federal aid for every dollar it paid in taxes. Alaska's financial situation is in large part due to it's reliance on Federal aid. So, don't be so fast to pat yourself on the back – especially since you tanked on the state anyway..

"I could have explained our multi-billion dollar state surplus"

She taxed the *#^@ out of oil companies for Alaskan drilling rights. It's a real moneymaker. Then she increased every Alaskan's government paycheck by 300 bux for guaranteed popularity points.

If Sarah Palin gave me free money I might vote for her too!

The Republicans are two faced. How can anyone trust them??? They shout out their anti Government sentiments and then behind back doors squeeze every tax payer dollar for themselves. Such hypocrites!!!

easy to have a surplus when your state has the population of san francisco & an endless suply of oil.
the oil royalties generated by the state are responsible for the surplus, not herr palin's economic policies.
lord help us if she ran the country.
