Palin, Schwarzenegger in tweet tiff

Sarah Palin hit back at Arnold Schwarzenegger Friday on her Twitter page.
Sarah Palin hit back at Arnold Schwarzenegger Friday on her Twitter page.

(CNN) – Former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin shot back at California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger on Friday, after the former movie star poked fun at the former vice presidential nominee on his Twitter account.

As Schwarzenegger flew over the 50th state on his way to Asia for a six-day trade mission, he posted a photo of himself looking out a plane window at an Alaskan mountaintop. Alongside the picture, the governor wrote that he was "looking everywhere but can't see Russia from here."

The joke was a reference to Palin's now infamous – and often misquoted – answer to a foreign policy question during an interview in the run-up to the 2008 presidential election. Many Americans believe Palin once said "I can see Russia from my house," when in reality, the line was uttered by Tina Fey in a Saturday Night Live sketch.

On Friday afternoon, Palin hit back at Schwarzenegger and took aim the economic distress plaguing his state.

"Arnold should have landed," Palin tweeted. "I could have explained our multi-billion dollar state surplus & US energy security efforts. What's he been up to?"

Schwarzenegger's state has been drowning in debt and budget deficits for years. Alaska has a relatively healthy economy that is heavily reliant upon oil revenue and received federal stimulus dollars.

Sarah Palin... we all will be very happy when you stick to talking to your husband at night ..?.. While in bed or asleep...Rather than the microphone announcements that mean nothing to us...You are a relic of the balanced budget crowd 1930 style the last balanced budget the republicans ever managed to get done.. Now you have caught on to the game of just using the credit card like was done for 8 years ...The Bush card we could call it..And now you and the republicans want to Repeal medicare ..social Security.. and the New Health Insurance Law.. Same ole stuff when you opposed social security in 1935 and medicare in 1965.. Backwards we go with you Republicans?

Arnold should have landed; I could have explained our multi-billion dollar surplus and US energy security efforts. What's he been up to?

How would you have explained it Sarah (Ms. Welfare Queen)? Your state is a WELFARE state. Alaska receives MORE money from the government (and I know government is a dirty word for you) than any other state in the union. Now on to her grammar. What's he been up to? This woman is so ignorant its simply not funny. Why should any of our kids go to school when some Americans continue to promote a hillbilly from a trailer with five illiterate children who make more money than any of us simply by being ignorant. What trash they are. The whole lot of them.

Ok, lets see who has the bigger populated state Alaska or California. Hmm....And at least Arnold didn't quit in the middle of his term that the citizens gave him.

I find it ironic that Palin jokes about a budget surplus... All states would have a surplus if big oil shared revenues with states and all of it's residents. The only reason Alaska has the budget surplus and the money to pay teachers more than any state in the country is because big oil makes it possible. The surplus has nothing to do with Palin or anything she has done as governor.

For everyone that actually believes in this woman, can't you see the insecurity? She cannot handle a joke without getting nasty in response. This woman has nothing to offer this country.

CNN, you didn't finish what Palin said. In one of her interviews, she was asked if she really thought being close to Russia meant she had foreign policy experience, and she answered yes. She'd been saying that in one way or another, as well as the short statement you used.

Palin probably doesn't know where California is even located! CNN, why is this news. Why are you so fixated with Palin. She's a total idiot.

  10. a little sad

Is she trying to take some crdit for the state of Alaska? She quit, didn't do a thing.

Besides which, since Alaska basically sucks money out of the rest of the states, it's a lot easier to have a surplus.

I am not a fan of Schwarzenegger or Palin. I live in California so I see first hand the struggle in our state. But I find it funny that Palin would ask what Schwarzenegger has been up to. Well being governor for one. He may be horrible at it, but at least he didn't quit like she did.

In 2008 Alaska got back $2.07 for every Federal Tax dollar Alaskan's paid. California got back about $0.67 for every Federal Tax dollar it paid. Maybe if this reversed Californians could take care of some their problem especially the budgeoning welfare system overloaded with new immigrants.

    Ignorance is bliss.

Oh, Sarah. I'm sure you weren't governor long enough to realize this, but your surplus is more the result of the excessive federal funds you receive than good governance (which you weren't even around long enough to provide). I betcha didn't realize that, for each tax dollar paid, California receives back one of the lowest amounts of federal funds in the country (about 75 cents for each federal tax dollar paid) while Alaska receives the third highest ($ 1.85 per federal tax dollar paid).

She's such a petty person. Palin must spend the entire day scouring the media for references to herself. Typical narcissist.
