(CNN) - Peter Shumlin has won the Democratic nomination for Vermont governor after unofficial recount results showed he defeated state senator and former lieutenant governor Doug Racine by 203 votes in the August 24 primary.
Racine's campaign manager confirmed to CNN that Racine conceded the race Friday and endorsed Shumlin, who currently serves as President Pro Tempore of Vermont's state senate.
Shumlin now faces GOP nominee Brian Dubie, the current lieutenant governor.
