Democrats return to Capitol Hill, mount final push to keep control

Congressional Democrats return to Washington Monday for a month-long legislative push they hope will persuade voters to keep them in power.

Washington (CNN) – Facing the prospect of losing control of Capitol Hill in the midterm elections, congressional Democrats return to Washington this week for one final month-long legislative push they hope will persuade voters to keep them in power.

At the top of their to-do list, Democrats will tee up the emotionally charged debate about whether to extend expiring Bush tax cuts for people earning more than $250,000 a year or just for those who earn less. Only weeks before voters go to the polls, Democrats are eager to make the argument that their party is focused on the middle class and Republicans are the party of the rich.

Most Democrats agree with President Obama that tax relief should be limited to the less well-off, while Republicans argue taxes shouldn't be hiked on anyone - including the wealthy - while the economy is weak.

House Minority Leader John Boehner of Ohio said Sunday on CBS' "Face the Nation" that he would vote for extending the tax cuts for the middle class if that was the only option he had, but that he would do everything that he could to extend them for those making more than $250,000 as well.

I cannot understand why our Democratic leaders are not out having a parade with picket signs saying, "YES WE DID!" save the economy from another Depression, "YES WE DID!"- Healthcare Reform, "YES WE DID!"- Wall Street Reform, "YES WE DID"- Credit Card Reform, "YES WE DID!"- Stem Cell Research Funding, "YES WE DID!'- Diversify the Supreme Court, "YES WE DID!"- End the combat in a horrible, illegal war, "YES WE DID!"- Force BP to accept responsibility for a tragedy and proof of deregulation, "YES WE DID!"-propose small business incentives that are being stonewalled by Republicans, ...and so on and so on! And another sign that reads, "YES WE CAN!" do even more with your support in November. They act as if they have something to apologize for! I don't blame Republicans for that spinelessness. One fault Dems have is trying to please too many damn people! But I love the work they do, so I'll give them a pass. I'll scream, I'll march, I'll tell the story…and I'll VOTE Democrat in November.

The Democrats would do well to begin this push to retain power with an abundance of highly ecumenical prayer.

Boehner, after making his behind the scene deals that there would be a fillibuster or what ever to try to defeat tax cuts being taken away from the rich, has made the headlines with his hypocrasy and propaganda.
He nor any republican can be trusted to do anything for middle class America as that is not who they represent.
Vinovich, a republican who is not running for re-election is the only one that has had the courage to say he will support tax cuts only for the middle class told the republican party the games must stop.
They have spent 20 months trying every dirty trick in the book to prevent progress, advancement for our country all for the sake of regaining power and winning the next election.
They have sold the American people down the river and will continue to do so.
