(CNN) – If you are a friend of Don Unsworth, a Georgia businessman who recently passed away, don't send flowers to the family. Just vote against President Obama in 2012.

That was the message conveyed in Unsworth's obituary, according to CNN affiliate station WIS.

"In lieu of flowers the family respectfully asks that donations be sent to the American Cancer Society, or to the campaign of anybody who is running against President Barack Obama in 2012," said the obituary, which ran in the local newspaper.

Donna Barnes said Unsworth was "not really a big Obama fan," taking issue with the stimulus bill and high unemployment rate.

"We just felt like it was the best tribute we could give to him," said Barnes.

A similar plea appeared in the obituary pages of the Las Vegas Review-Journal in July, only the family of Charlotte McCourt asked readers not to vote for Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid.

First of all, may this poor schmuck of a man rest in peace and may God have mercy on his soul.

How tragic, that Mr. Unsworth (interesting name) about to meet His Maker wanted to include such a statement in his obit. What does it say about a man, who despises President Obama so much that he asks this of his family and friends.

As much as I believe that George W. Bush & the GOP are the blame for the present recession, I would never, ever. ask my friends or family not to vote for the GOP. They have the freedom to think for themselves.

This "request" is not only in poor taste, it is incredibly arrogant.

Get off the racist card liberals. Just because people can't stand Obama doesn't make them racist. He didn't like the bills Obama and company rammed down our throats. You will find out in Nov. just how many more people feel the same way. Oh they are not dead and they will vote. You people are disgraceful making comments on a dead person like you have.

Just goes to show how pathologically insane the Republicans have become since Obama's election. Not that they weren't before, but having a young, smart, articulate, highly educated black Democrat in the highest office in the land drives them out of their minds. I kind of love it.

I would do the same thing if it would help get Obama and others voted out of their offices.

In fact I am asking you to do this while I am still alive.

What a sad way to leave this world. Such a stupid thing to do and people wonder why the world is the way it is. If i died i don't think my concern would be on who the next President would be that would be the least of my worries talk about someone with no life give me a break.

mmmmm instead of worrying about the votes for President Obama in 2012 on my Death bed, I would have been praying. By the way, Mr. Unsworth you will not be here to see who win or lose

The ignorance and hatred is pathetic. To Truth, you're dillusional. We won't even see what any President has done to effect change until after the first term. That's with President Obama dealing with his predecessor's policies and whomever the President of 2012 will be to deal with the current President.
I have never seen so much pitty partying, slanderous, hateful behavior since the KKK proudly wore their hoods.
You all now seem to think your opinions are the only ones that matter. Guess what....you are a minority period dot!

How crass. And sad. Free to say it...but shows the class that this man and his family lived by if they felt it appropriate to include that in his Obit. RIP. Hope his name doesn't somehow appear on the opposition votes!

While I support the man's family's right to write the obituary as they see fit, I also see this as a barometer of a lack of civility in this country. A president is in a position of honor and should not be treated like this by anyone, regardless of his party affiliation, etc. Shame on all of us.

Funny that he took issue with the high unemployment rate, but he was probably a raving fan of George W. Bush, who took us up to the 10% range in unemployment, and was the biggest deficit spender in history while president.

Anyhow, hey, if that's what they wanted, and probably what he would have wanted for his obit, why not? There's nothing wrong with them intermingling partisan politics with a remembrance of their loved one if its really that important to them.

Vote President Obama out of office in 2012. It will be a great Gift for all
Americans in 2012. Vote 100% Republicans in 2010 and 2012.

A conservative speaking from the grave. At least it's not like a liberal, who votes from the grave. Hey losers, it's not about a black man in the WH; it's about a marxist occupying the WH with his drag queen wife. Sorry to tell you, Sharpton and Jackson used up the Race Card
