(CNN) – He has little chance of unseating House Speaker Nancy Pelosi in her San Francisco congressional district, but Republican John Dennis knows how to make a splash.
The California businessman is out with a new Web video portraying the House Speaker as the Wicked Witch of the West in a campy takeoff of the Wizard of Oz.
The parody, released Sunday and already garnering close to 300,000 views on YouTube, includes Scarecrow, Tin Man, Lion, and Dorothy expressing fright of the state of the nation and bemoaning Democratic policies.
"I will save you from those evil Republicans," a faux-Nancy Pelosi-turned-Wicked Witch of the West assures the frightened group. "But first $18,000 for my downtown office, and then go into massive debt for Wall Street bailouts, and here are my monkeys (IRS agents) to make you pay for it all."
Dennis then appears, throwing water on the Pelosi figure who promptly begins to melt.
"I believe it's time to throw a little water on politicians who do one thing and do another like Nancy Pelosi," says Dennis.
In an interview with San Francisco Weekly, Dennis is pledging more zany videos taking aim at the California Democrat, including parodies of a Few Good Men and James Bond.
Though Dennis has spent over a million dollars on the race, his chances of winning are virtually nil – in 2008, Pelosi won 71 percent of the vote and appears headed for a similarly-large victory this November.
Responding to the ad, Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee Spokeswoman Jennifer Crider said laughing, "A silly web video deserves a silly response: Lions, and tigers, and bears! Oh, my!”
All the drug addict welfare leeches in her district will ensure nutjob Nancy stays in congress. You have to be on drugs to support a criminal like her. Can't wait for the day she faces treason charges for what she has done to our Constitution!
The absolute best political spot ever. It shines a bright light on Pelosi and the rest of the career politicians who have taken advantage of their constituents and their positions.
I think it's hillarious! Great imagination and a great use of technology for exposing Nancy Pelosi for the Witch that she is!
Truely pathetic. When you have no message, you lower yourself to the level of (unfunny) slapstick. Just another page from the GOP dirty tricks election intruction guide.
Mr. Dennis, you're not in Kansas, lose with grace.
Right On! He did get it right!
Perfect ad that should be followed up nationally with Pelosi still as the wicked witch of the west, Harry Reid as the scarecrow (no brain), John Kerry as the lion (no courage), Al Franken (no heart), and of course
Obama as the Wizard of Oz.; the curtain has been drawn back to expose the fraud that he is. November 2nd, to throw the Democratic bums from office can't come soon enough.
She deserves it.
This is why we cannot let Republicans win in November. They are all about name calling and lack any clear plans to help our Country move forward.
This is priceless I love it.
The danger to America is that Corporate interests – with the likes of Dick Army' millions and the Coke brother's billions are carrying on a campaign of deception against voters.
It's true that most voters are easily misled because they simply are not informed.
To bad we cannot get rid of botox pelosi, reid and obama by just throwing water on them.
If it's low tactics in politics, you can be VERY sure that a Republican candidate approved the ad.
John Dennis - "Let's not talk about issues, let's just call our opponent a wicked witch!...................."
This guy's picture is certainly an appropriate as an illustration for the definition of words such as "lame"and "sophomoric". IT is painfully obvious that there are NO adults left in the party of Lincoln and Teddy Roosevelt. With this attitude, the party, as it currently stands, deserves to follow the Dodo bird into oblivion. May it do so quickly.
These Republicans know no shame.
This lady has done nothing in her position, has not cleaned up congress as promised, frankly...it's the most corrupt bloated congress to date.
Ugggh, I just hate this woman
Republican loser making silly video referring to woman candidate as witch. No news here. CNN is just helping a silly "viral" campaign by spreading the word about this.
Regardless of whether or not you agree with Nancy Pelosi's world view, she deserves respect for a lifetime of hard work and achievement. This is downright disrespectful. Keep your head up Nancy. You are a powerful woman and this is just a weak attempt to undermine and offend you by some unknown politician looking for some attention. Nothing to worry about.
I guess it is ok for republicans to rip us off!
I love the ad! Pelosi is a witch and needs to go! The way she refused to listen to the people and shove the health care bill down our throads was dispicable!
Right on! The liberals have done more damage in the last four years the Democrats have controlled Congress than the Republicans have during their time. Get out and vote America, we need new blood in Congress with conservative, grass roots values! We don't need career politicians who hide within the beltway. We need elected officials that care about their constituents and will never lose touch with them or compromise their own individual moral values for the sake of a party agenda.
Ha Ha. I think the ad is too nice.
If the entire country voted for the Speaker, she would be out of there! Unfortunately she lives in a looney liberal district in CA.
She needs get on her jet, fly back to the district of liberal idiocracy, stay there and stop trying to push her brand of communistic attitudes down the throats of Americans. Knowing that the healthcare reform was unwanted by the majority of the population, she continued her quest to ruin the existing system for 15% of the population. Worst speaker ever.
Clever but, given the demographics of that district, I can't say that it will make a great deal of difference. I liked the comparison of Monkeys to IRS agents.......although I think I would have used leeches if the story line had allowed it.
My gosh, if he thinks this about Peolosi, what much he think of his fellow Republicans who:
Doubled the national debt in just 8 years
Took the country from record surpluses under Clinton to record deficits
Had us losing 750,000 jobs a month by the time Bush left office
Left us in Economic Recession bordering on Depression
Can't wait for that video
