DeMint's operation fires back

Sen. Jim DeMint's political operation is firing back against GOP aides who anonymously criticized Delaware GOP Senate primary winner Chrisine O'Donnell.

(CNN) - Jim DeMint's political operation is firing back at anonymous Senate Republican aides who criticized the conservative South Carolina Senator on Tuesday night for helping Christine O'Donnell capture the GOP Senate nomination in Delaware, possibly jeopardizing the party's chances of winning the seat in November.

One unnamed senior GOP aide told CNN's Dana Bash: "I wonder who Harry Reid and Chuck Schumer are calling first tonight - Chris Coons for becoming the next Senator from Delaware or Jim DeMint for helping to make it happen.

Another GOP leadership aide griped to Hotline On Call that "DeMint is not interested in a majority, he'd rather establish himself as the leader on the fringe."

DeMint's Senate Conservatives Fund directed money to O'Donnell's campaign and numerous other conservative Senate hopefuls who knocked off establishment-backed candidates in GOP primaries this cycle.

A spokesman for the group, Matt Hoskins, responded to the criticism - on the record.

"Based on the number of Republicans DeMint has helped get elected this year, I would say he's done quite a bit to elect a majority," Hoskins told CNN. "Perhaps the real reason some unnamed leadership aides are upset is that these Republicans actually have principles."

you've been told what an Idiot DeMint was. I wouldn't doubt it that Obama bought him off. He's also good at that.

If Jim DeMint isn't careful and mind his own business Alvin Greene will beat him in November from prison LOL. It would be a shame to be beaten by a jail bird LOL

Nicely said. We stand with Senator DeMint on the side of a constitutional republic. The establishment ignores the (now) vocal majority at their own peril.

    Snap response from DeMint

And the Good Old Pops Party just signaled what whining losers they are by declaring they would rather lose the election than support the REPUBLICAN WOMAN CHALLENGER to their INSIDE guy.

    Pathetic.

They can no longer ask to support the Republican nominee, because THEY WON'T

If the Republican Party does not want to help Tea Party Candidates, the we do not need to send money to the RNC but send it directly to candidates such as Christine O'Donnell. We will give Conservative Republicans our vote but reserve the right to give our money directly to the candidate we support such as O'Donnell. If you have a RINO from Delaware then you might as well have a demorat, at least a demorat you can run against again.

I wonder if DeMint is funded along with the Tea Party by the billionaire Koch brothers, who I seriously doubt can or do sympathize with the average American.

The right wing elitists get scared when somebody like Sen DeMint decide to stick to principle, rather than just supporting the "most electable" candidate with an (R) next to their name.
Some people care about what's best for the Republicans, and others care about what's best for our country.

This is Hilarious. The Republicans embrace the Tea Party, and then get stabbed in the back.

Bottom line.................DeMint is a self serving, Bible thumping a-hoal whose only concerned with serving his own best interest!!! Nothing more, nothing less!!

  14. they call me "tater salad"

I guess Mr. Hoskins just confirmed what most people knew all along..........This whole Tea Party facade is a farce..............They're actually Republicans and they have been all along! They're the brain child of a desperate Corruptlican Party that are finding it more and more difficult to hide the level of sheer ineptitude they displayed for the last 8 years so they create this group of simpletons, give them a catchy little title of Tea Party and presto, instant distraction to keep the rest of the simpleton from getting a clue..........All in the name of money and votes....After all they are the Greed Of Power party!!!

  15. SAY WHAT!!!

I think Jim DeMint is working for the Democrats...the Democrats have Alvin Greene challenging DeMint in SC and we all know who will win...and DeMint goes around and supports Tea Party candidates so that it is easier for Democrats to win in November...as long as Democrats maintain the majority I don't care whiich side Jim DeMint is on...

  16. Political Winds Are Blowing

How do these republican aides know what the voters are thinking?Do they have a crystal ball? It's very plain that the real conservative voters are not agreeable to the thinking of the republican leaders and are putting their own candidates in place. One things for sure, the hand picks of the leadership are getting their butts kicked.Better wake up old party leaders, there is a new party in town.

DeMint hasn't helped ANY Republicans get elected this year. He's endorsed a pile of right-wing loons and gotten them through PRIMARIES. Somebody needs to explain to this gomer on DeMint's staff that elections occur in November, and people who aren't Republicans get to vote in them.

Sweet irony that DeMint's biggest achievement in politics (besides being a successful liar), will be handing Democrats all the wins from the lame, lunatic candidates he endorsed. It will be his Waterloo!!!
