Democrats up ante against Boehner

The DNC has come out with two ads charging that House Minority Leader John Boehner is too close to lobbyists in Washington.
The DNC has come out with two ads charging that House Minority Leader John Boehner is too close to lobbyists in Washington.

Washington (CNN) – National Democrats are sharpening their criticism of House Minority Leader John Boehner, airing a second national commercial charging that the Ohio Republican is too close to powerful interest groups in the nation's capital.

The Democratic National Committee is already airing a TV ad that accuses Boehner of helping big business at the expense of working Americans. The new commercial, which will air on MSNBC through the end of the week, is largely based on a recent story in The New York Times that highlights his ties to lobbyists.

A DNC official tells CNN that the goal is to try and tie Boehner to past Republican scandals and K-Street, the corridor that cuts through the nation's capital where many lobbying shops are housed. Boehner is in line to become the speaker if Republicans were to win the House majority in November.

Michael Steel, a Boehner's spokesman dismissed the ad as a Democratic attack designed to shift the conversation away from the economy.

"Out-of-touch and flailing, Washington Democrats are desperate to change the topic, but the American people won't forget their job-killing record," Steel said. "The premise of this ad is just silly."

I hope this gets people started talking about how much money legislators get from lobbyists. I'm not a big fan of Boehner, but he has taken a lot less than pelosi and other dems. I read somewhere he isn't in the top 20% of legislators taking lobbyists money.
That's why I find it strange that the dems are going after him. They do have to go after someone, they can't run on their own records.

John Boehner is for the country club types of this country. I don't know the income brackets of the people that live in his district, but I know Ohio to be a blue collar middle-class state. John Boehner is not for the middle-class!

Democrats: Keep trying – just keep trying...... It is clear with Democrats in FULL power for almost two years they have created SUCH A MESS that their only hope is to criticize the Republicans? I have an idea – why don't you run on your fabulous Health Care law (raising the cost to ALL employees and employers), Stimulus (that wasn't stimulus), Financial Reform (what the hell is in it??), Government buying GM/Chrysler (THAT worked out well!!), Immigration Reform (where illegal immigrants get MORE benefits than those of us who work two jobs trying to get by), Mosque at Ground Zero (great idea to support an Imam who believes the U.S. has "more blood on their hands than Al Queda!!), and so on.

You Democrats got SOOOOO much accomplished that Biden went out earlier this year and exclaimed "SUMMER OF RECOVERY"!! So how is that "Hope and Change" working out for you now?? You can fool the american public once but not twice. If you can't run on your own "accomplishments" then resign and get the hell out of the way!!

The Democrats are trying to run against John Boehner because he has a tan and smokes cigarettes. Obama has a tan and smokes cigarettes. So what?

I hope Boehner helps big business – they employ people. This is all Obama can do since he can't run on his own PATHETIC record. If Obama and Democrats who have been in power since 2006 had a clue unemployment would not have been over 9.5% for over a year. We knew Obama's Keynesian model would not work from history and now even Congressional Democrats are getting it.

The Dems aren't helping working Americans. They spent all their time working on programs that cost Americans money, instead of helping them.

Not only that, but we have given hundreds of billions of dollars away to foreign governments, many of whom aren't even friends of ours.

The Dems have a rotten record, to be talking about anybody, even someone like Boehner, who admittedly is far from good leadership.

Hey DNC!!! You're preaching to the choir on MSNBC! You need to place this ad on the so called "mainstream" media networks, and get to the the low information voters, not the progressives that already know about Mr. Boehner. Don't waste our precious donations trying to convince us highly informed liberals!

Why do people read or listen to this stuff. No one addresses your issues from Congresses but you'll listen to attack ads from both sides.

and rattlesnakes (and probably some they would liked to have had) If you love them and their lies, deceipt, arraogance and greed you'll fall in love with Bahama Boehner as well! Has anyone actually heard this guy present anything besides criticism?

No kidding thanks to the dumbocrats I have skyrocketing health care costs to look forward to, my company knows the Bush tax cuts will expire making our negotiation for a contract much more difficult. Thanks to these idiots who claim to defend working America my union will have an even more difficult time with the company and surely us workers will suffer. All my union brothers need to wake up and see these socialist statists for what they are, don't ever vote democrat and be careful of neocons too. Libertarianism is the only sensible political philosophy, lets put the democrats and republicans out of work with the rest of our fellow Americans they have screwed right along with us!

Why no mention from the specifics in the NY Times article? Boehner was caught in '96 handing out checks from tobacco lobbyists to fellow Republicans on the House floor...From 2000 to 2007, Mr. Boehner flew at least 45 times, often with his wife, Debbie, on corporate jets provided by companies including R. J. Reynolds.

No wonder Boehner never seems to care about the Middle Class or American workers. All he cares about are his Big $ corporate lobbyist cronies.

It is crazy for the Dems to say that Boehner is close to lobbyists since they receive more money from lobbyist than the Republicans do. Think of the money that the Labor Unions, Lawyers, Teachers Unions, Wall Street, etc. give to the Dems. Why doesn't CNN, MSNBC, The New York Times, etc. report on that or at least give it the same coverage as they do against the Republican Party. America needs to wake up and realize that the Dems are driving us off a cliff.

And the DemocRATS don't take money from special interest groups? Do tell! Millions from trial lawyers (got tort reform excluded), millions from the unions (got them ownership of GM), and on and on. Lying hypocrit DemocRATS, but the country already knows this.

I guess when a majority of the Amercian people oppose almost everything you do, you have to concoct these diversion schemes to try and fool people. IT AIN"T GOING TO HAPPEN! Prepare for your own taste of the unemplyment lines come November DemocRATS!

You have to love the desparation being exhibited by the Dems!! You can not change your policies/votes on illegals, health care, auto bailouts, wasted stimulus, apology tour, expanding government payrolls, etc.... I look forward to more business savy members in congress come November!!

One more note on the tax cuts for you liberal nutjobs. It is extremely arrogant and dangerous to view these cuts as Obama and his cast of clowns do. How dare they portray a tax cut as a cost to government! That is based on the notion that the government owns us and the fruits of our labor and allows us to keep what they see fit. I have a strong message to you, you don't own me, you don't own my family, and you don't own the American people! Liberty is one unit and our social and economic liberties should not be considered seperate! So my liberal friends, read the constitution listen to our founders words if you even care enough to learn and realize that almost everything we were raised to believe is wrong! If it's unconstitutional its ILLEGAL! Stop undermining our freedoms because if you don't you will see why we have said don't tread on me!

Wow what a surprise the White house who has more ties to lobbyist than any white house in history and even has them working for the president after saying he would not do that is attacking someone who never hid the fact that he had ties to some lobbyist. So the Liars and deceivers are again attacking the honest man who never lied about it. Sounds like typical Obama to me the most two faced and worst president in history.

Boehner's ties to lobbyists? Obama has hired more lobbyists to work in his administration than any president in history! The Obamatistas spend so much time trying to trumpet how they don't let lobbyists in the White House that they spend more time in the coffee shop across the street from the Pa. Ave. entrance to the building - TALKING TO LOBBYISTS - than they spend in the building!!! The one guy in the nation who hasn't seen the recession is the guy who owns that coffee shop! More Obama lemmings are hanging out there than at the Capitol!
