Biden to campaign with Coons

Washington (CNN) - Vice President Joe Biden's heading home to Delaware to try and help keep his old Senate seat in Democratic party hands.

A Biden aide confirms to CNN that the vice president will likely appear with the New Castle County Executive Chris Coons, the Democrat's Senate nominee in Delaware, at an event in the state sometime next week.

Coons will face off in the November midterm elections against conservative commentator and marketing consultant Christine O'Donnell, who upset Delaware's longtime statewide Rep. Mike Castle, in Tuesday's GOP primary.

Polls suggested that Castle, a former governor and moderate Republican, would have been favored in the general election battle over Coons, but with O'Donnell as the party's nominee, surveys indicate that Coon is considered to have the advantage.

The winner in November will fill out the remaining four years of Biden's final term. Biden stepped down from the Senate after his election in November 2008 as vice president. Former Biden aide Ted Kaufman was named as an interim replacement. Kaufman is not seeking a full term. After much speculation that he would run for his father's old seat, Delaware Attorney General Beau Biden announced in late January that he would instead run for re-election as Delaware attorney general.

Coon's announced his bid nine days later and the vice president immediately praised him. Biden was the main attraction at a fundraiser for Coons in Wilmington in June.

The vice president's office also tells CNN that Biden, who held the seat for nearly four decades, has made many calls to long-time supporters, urging them to help the Coons' campaign.

Good! Take Obama, Reid, and Pelosi with him. Let the good people of Delaware see the clowns Coon will run with if they elect him. These are the people who caused the Obama recession, Unemployment at 9.6%, ruined the economy and tripled the deficit. Voters in Delaware won't support that.

The idiot O'Donnell is not a "conservative commentator and marketing consultant". She is a perpetual lunatic fringe candidate for office and she has been running non-stop for the last 5 years. She is a liar and a thief and she contributes nothing of any value whatesoever to the public discourse.

    Hey Biden...

Try to remember – Coons is the democratic nominee for senator for Delaware, not a nocturnal forest critter.

    You're welcome... buffoon.
