Clinton talks tea party

Secretary of State Hillary Clinton discusses the Tea Party movement.

(CNN) - Secretary of State Hillary Clinton spoke out about the Tea Party movement Thursday, drawing a contrast between the rhetoric of campaigns and how candidates eventually govern.

Speaking to ABC's Christiane Amanpour on "Good Morning America," Clinton said candidates are "sobered" when faced with national and international challenges.

"When they have the burden of holding office and the responsibility that goes with it, I've seen them become very sobered very quickly," Clinton said. "Sometimes the poetry can get kind of hot and a little over the top, but the prose brings you down to earth."

Clinton quoted former New York Governor Mario Cuomo when asked if candidates backed by members of the Tea Party would affect foreign policy if elected.

"Nobody said it better than Mario Cuomo when he said you campaign in poetry and you govern in prose," Clinton said.

Everyone has all the answers when they are just talking not doing. The "fiscal conservative" Teabaggers are armchair quarterbacks. Once in office, they will be completely inneffective at accomplishing anything since their political power is based purely on fear, hype and emotion. They have not got a clue how to compromise or otherwise enact real change.

  2. Can't We All Just Get Along?

To be in the Tea Party, you must first have a pickled brain. That's why these Tea Partiers are every bit as stupid as Palin. Look at O'Donnell - I think she has even less working brain cells than Palin does, and that's worrisome. I hope the GOP haven't put something in the water that pickles brains so people will join the Tea Party.

It's seems pretty easy to get out and beat your drum of reform to those that want to hear it but reality is somewhat different. The Tea Party has one view of how the country should be governed but that is not the only view. The problems arise when one very vocal [Tea Party] group thinks they speak for all or think they know what's best for all.

The mindset becomes very egocentric but this country can't be run successfully with that belief. I would hope it will be a very sobering experience for any new candidate being elected to office and consideration for what is going on in America as well as the rest of the world would influence their thought process.

    Are you kidding me???

This is the true last grasping straws of the desperate... However if she wants the best example ever of saying one thing and governing another, that would be OBAMA!

From Hillary's view the Government should Micro-Manage every aspect of our lives. Basically known as the Liberal View. That was Jimmy Cartier's view as well, as was the view in the old Soviet Union. The Tea Party people know they have to manage their own affairs.

The big government view has been and continues to be an abject failure. Hence the Tea Partiers with a 13.5 trillion dollar debt to prove it. Hillary willl never get it. The people do.

When the Tea Party gets to Congress, they may be "sobered" but they're going to stand on their principles, rather than the current RINOs who waiver like a leaf in the wind. The current Congress members ignored the will of the people. That's why you've seen 7 Incumbent Republicans defeated by Tea Party challengers. When you ignore the will of your voters, expect to lose your job.

Are you sure she is talking about the Tea Party and not what happened in 2008? We STILL fall for flowery words and fancy promises!

The GOP has found out that the TeaParty has no loyalty. And will never except the current GOP leadership. Bachmann and Demint in putting themself in a position of power! Goodbye McTurtle and Boner!

Only Democrats say one thing and do another once elected. That's why they will be insignificant come November.

Not buying it. These whackadoos, who are just a dribble short of the drool cup, are getting a free pass in the press and with the under-educated misinformed public and WE ARE GOING TO PAY FOR IT. Period. Mark my words and laugh in my face if I get proven wrong, but I'm 100% confident it's a freekin disaster waiting to happen....and that IT. WILL. HAPPEN.

Telling the is what its all about. Governing is very challenging and the poets know it they just want to get elected even if they lie to do it.

The Tea party call the current administration socialist to get elected. The US is the largest capitalist society in the world must government projects or done by private companies what's socialist about that.

I'm afraid that she might be wrong this time about the Crazy that goes along with the Tea Party. When someone truly thinks that lying for any reason is bad – even if to protect a Jew from the the Nazis because God will protect them.. Well, that person is NOT fit to govern or dictate.

Really, I'm talking about O'Donnell (Straight from her mouth).

Please vote against the Tea Party! I beg of you for the sake of the country.
