O'Donnell to address major conservative conference

Delaware GOP Senate candidate Christine O'Donnell will speak Friday in the nation's Capitol at the fifth annual Values Voters Summit.
Delaware GOP Senate candidate Christine O'Donnell will speak Friday in the nation's Capitol at the fifth annual Values Voters Summit.

Washington (CNN) - The newest rock star on the right will speak Friday in front of a national gathering of conservative activists.

Fresh off her upset victory over longtime moderate Republican Rep. Mike Castle in Tuesday's GOP Senate primary in Delaware, Christine O'Donnell will speak Friday in the nation's Capitol at the fifth annual Values Voters Summit.

"We are pleased to announce that Christine O'Donnell will join us to speak at the Values Voters Summit. We applaud her for valiantly defending faith, family and freedom throughout this campaign," says Tony Perkins, head of the Family Research Council, which organizes the yearly conference of social conservative activists.

"Christine O'Donnell has spoken out on behalf of the average person in her state who has been burdened by excessive tax and regulatory policies. She has tapped into the deep-seated mistrust that voters have toward big government," added Perkins.

Also speaking at the two-day gathering are Republican Sens. Jim DeMint of South Carolina and Jim Inhofe of Oklahoma, Gov. Bob McDonnell of Virginia, former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee, former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney, Rep. Mike Pence of Indiana, Rep. Michele Bachmann of Minnesota, former House Speaker Newt Gingrich, and other leading figures in the conservative movement.

As in years past, the results of a GOP presidential straw poll will be released at the end of the conference. Huckabee won last year's straw poll.

Thursday night, O'Donnell is expected to make her first appearance with her Democratic opponent in Delaware, New Castle County Executive Chris Coons. The two candidates will be on the same stage at a candidates forum at a Jewish community center in Wilmington.

Thanks to voter anger at Washington, incumbents and establishment candidates, and thanks to assistance from the Tea Party Express and Sarah Palin, O'Donnell defeated Castle 53 to 47 percent in Tuesday's GOP primary contest.

The winner of November's general election will fill out the remaining four years of Vice President Joe Biden's final term. Biden stepped down from the Senate after his election in November 2008 as vice president. Former Biden aide Ted Kaufman was named as an interim replacement. Kaufman is not seeking a full term. After much speculation that he would run for his father's old seat, Delaware Attorney General Beau Biden announced in late January that he would instead run for re-election as Delaware attorney general.

Hopefully this message get's back to the O'Donnell campaign. I wanted to donate to your campaign but your website only takes checks and credit cards and I feel more comfortable with PayPal. Add PayPal to the options and you will probably increase your contributions!!

Secondly, there is no way to simply send you an email!! There is no "contact us" option on your website. BIG MISTAKE!! I have been trying for three days to contribute but can't contact you on the above suggestion!!

    Go O'Donnell!!!

Am I the only one who thinks O'Donnell is a knock-off version of Palin? She looks, talks and acts like the wanna-be GOP princess.

With President Obama's completely out of touch government that continues to pass laws that increase the burden on the Middle classes such as the health Care Law with an immediate 10 percent increase in Health Care Fees for things like colonoscopies and taking on high risk patients that the Private Health Care Companies cannot afford as they need to maintain a profit margin, there is growing voter resentment for his so-called "Agenda" which is making the Banks and Health Care Fields ever richer and the Middle Class ever poorer. His Credit Card Reform added to the Interest rates charged by the Credit Card Companies in a time where consumer spending is of utmost importance and many, like myself, just closed their accounts. Obama gave 10 percent to an overpaid Defense Department while praising the Cuts in Pay and benefits to the Auto companies. To say he says one thing and does another doesn't begin to address the problem of this intelligent but unwise President!

Why is it the rising stars on the right are all substance-less members of the counter-media? People who make their living bad-mouthing, complaining and finger-pointing on the air? Are there any Republicans out there who aren't happy about this, who want candidates who had a career in business? Cheney, might have been old and angry, but at least he had a clue how to govern.

Stop calling these people conservative activists. They are the American version of Nazis. They are fascists. Here's a few to begin with:

    Sarah Palin
    Sen. Sessions
    Rep. Joe Wilson
    Sen. Jim DeMint
    Sen. Jim Inhofe
    Gov. Bob McDonnell
    Rep. Mike Pence
    Rep. Michele Bachmann

Doesn't anyone realize that when Sarah Palin adds her name as an endorsement just days before the election it really has no effect on the results? This is a deliberate attempt by her to say, "look if I support you you'll win" NOT. What a farce, O'Donnell would have won without Palin. Oh, and Ms. O'Donnell, should you actually win and go to congress, keep your GOD DAMN RELIGION out of my government. You bible thumpers are the most hypocritical, bias, two faced, discriminatory, idiots on earth. Witchcraft is just as believable as the crap in the bible you morons.

  15. Liberals are poison

Republican Rep Mike Castle is/was NEVER a "moderate" no matter
how the liberal lamestream media portrays him to be. Voting for
TARP, Cap and Tax, Stimulus, Porkulus, Card Check, and ALL other
liberal schemes alienated him from the MAJORITY of Americans.
We will see the end of RHINO's and Democrats from every level of political office in this country very soon. These strong
conservative women make pansy liberal men shudder in fear.

Where does Perkins come up with this stuff? When I read statements like this I often wish Perkins would establish his own country on an island and see how long it takes his followers to understand that taxes and regulations do a lot more to maintain civilization and protect us than prayers and a 4,000 year old book of myths.

Conservatives are in a good light with the public because we know we need to conserve, not go on a spending spree on an agenda that isn't on the top of our priority list. We need jobs. We were promised a push on our aging infrastructure...... highways, power grid etc. and then POTUS instead well over spent on his pet projects. It's just like the gas company in Ca that got a multi-million $ rate increase to replace aging pipes and spent the money on executive bonusses. This too is about to blow up in our faces. Obama is so into himself there's no room for us, his employers and the dem party is so smug they thing people asr so stupid they'll fall for the same crap again as they always do. Already we're hearing the childish name callint (stupid, crazy unaware, wacko and partial truths, not just from Ed Schults but the Democtatic Party in unison. Will we be stupid enough to fall for the same crap as always? Don't vote party. Vote issues.

Liberals, wake up!! The Mutants from the Right want to control our country. They are looking to set up a totalitarian government that will force Americans to comply with their vision of a "United Christian States of America". Muslims and non-Christians will be Gas Chambered!! Jews will be tolerated as p[rt of a grand plan to herd them back to Israel – to fulfill the Extremist Christian belief that "God" will return to Earth when the Jews are returned to Israel. Folks, science has proven that Conservatism is a GENETIC DEVIANCE . Conservatives are against scientific research because they truly have something to hide! They are like the "Visitors" of V, or like the Mutants of "28 Days". They want to take over the world and they have organized their communications by taking over FOX networks! Stand up and fight the mutant takeover!!
