Murkowski plans to run as write-in candidate

Sen. Lisa Murkowski will announce her plans to run as a write-in candidate Friday.
Sen. Lisa Murkowski will announce her plans to run as a write-in candidate Friday.

(CNN) - When Sen. Lisa Murkowski of Alaska announces Friday night - as expected - that she is launching a write-in campaign to retain her seat, she'll be stepping into the middle of some very testy Republican infighting.

Tea Party Express Chairwoman Amy Kremer, whose group campaigned heavily for Murkowski's primary opponent - and eventual primary winner - Joe Miller, said the senator's decision proves she doesn't "get it."

"She was fired by the people. The people were given a choice and they voted for somebody else," she said, adding that she was shocked to learn of Murkowski's decision.

A Republican source told CNN that Murkowski informed "a few" close colleagues that she plans to run as a write-in candidate. A separate source with knowledge of her decision said she expects to announce her write-in candidacy Friday.

Proof positive, kids, that this women, another careerist politician, cares more about her own political skin than she does her nation.

    It's called honor.
    It's called integrity.
It's called being an adult, thanking your opponent for a spirited debate and then saying "I now support and endorse your campaign, as the voters have spoken."

The time for debate in the GOP was the primary. That's when we choose our candidates.

Now, it's time for her to sit down and STFU.
The voters beat you for a reason, stupid. Stand down.

This is one time I will say something good for a RepubliCAN'T – FIGHT Murkowski and I hope you WIN!!!

AK is a RED STATE and most likely will always be a RED STATE – therefore, they can fight amongst themselves and a DEMOCRAT does not care!!!

If she DOES NOT win, they will have to count a lot of BALLOTS 'manually' before they find out!!! LOL

All in all – DEMOCRATS elsewhere – STATE the CASE and mean it – UNITE the BASE and feel it and I guarantee we will WIN the RACE in November!!!

This is T'SAH – the Liberal – and not the other one who wants to Impersonate me!!! I agree with this message!!

@ Sniffit (but much smarter), who said "Obama is a crook. This appointment should have gone through the senate.... Then again, Obama hasn't followed any real rules. Even with a super majority in Congress, he has bent rules to get his agenda forced through."

You just made my weekend. I bet you call yourself a "constitutional conservative" and yet you appear to be 100% unaware that the recess appointment is a poiwer granted the POTUS explicitly in that document"

"The President shall have Power to fill up all Vacancies that may happen during the Recess of the Senate, by granting Commissions which shall expire at the End of their next Session."

I love it. Don't ever change. Stay uneducated and funny. But note...possession of 3rd grade reading comprehension would have had your panties completely unwadded...you get to fight about it and attempt to obstruct it for political leverage at the end of the next session. Pantwetter.

Have a good one y'all lol

All the libertarians hard right wingers are going to cry but isn't this democracy in action? The majority of americans is right in the middle of political spectrum it is time that the tea party starts to understand it is the minority.

"Proof positive, kids, that this women, another careerist politician, cares more about her own political skin than she does her nation."

Either that or she recognizes what a tapdancing danger Joe Miller is. I haven't always agreed with her, but she's not stupid. Neither is Miller, which is what makes him so dangerous.

Who wouldn't want to keep that $174,000 a year job? It's not about the people, it's about the money and the power.

The Republican nominee–Joe Miller–wants to dismantle Social Security and Medicare. He must be challenged by the party's center if the GOP has a chance of being taken seriously in the future.

    "Sore looser, big time"

If you're going to post the same tired, lame stuff all the time, please learn to spell. It's LOSER, not LOOSER!

That being said I'm really glad to see that she's going to run as an Indie! I think it shows her to be quite a "quality person" that she isn't going to roll over and accept her party being hijacked by a bunch of extremist lunatics!

More proof of the slow-motion civil war that will eventually rip the Republican Party in half and make the Tea Party a viable third party.

Sooner or later, the Tea Party and the "Republican establishment" are going to take the gloves off and go at it Thunderdome style.

TWO MEN ENTER! ONE MAN LEAVE!

    Run, Lisa, run!

"Exactly why she should NOT be elected. She isn't a quality person."

Hopefully this means a Democrat will win. But Miller is dog drizzle compared to Murkowski.

This isn't going to split the vote in Alaska. Mounting a write-in campaign will be impossible in an area so vast and with polling stations so remote. It just won't work.

The voters spoke, and said LOUDLY that Murkowski's RINO stunts had made her Persona Non Grata with Alaska voters. She's done.
