Murkowski plans to run as write-in candidate

Sen. Lisa Murkowski will announce her plans to run as a write-in candidate Friday.
Sen. Lisa Murkowski will announce her plans to run as a write-in candidate Friday.

(CNN) - When Sen. Lisa Murkowski of Alaska announces Friday night - as expected - that she is launching a write-in campaign to retain her seat, she'll be stepping into the middle of some very testy Republican infighting.

Tea Party Express Chairwoman Amy Kremer, whose group campaigned heavily for Murkowski's primary opponent - and eventual primary winner - Joe Miller, said the senator's decision proves she doesn't "get it."

"She was fired by the people. The people were given a choice and they voted for somebody else," she said, adding that she was shocked to learn of Murkowski's decision.

A Republican source told CNN that Murkowski informed "a few" close colleagues that she plans to run as a write-in candidate. A separate source with knowledge of her decision said she expects to announce her write-in candidacy Friday.

Alaskan's have a quandry; we don't like Lisa, but we detest the Palin/Miller show even more: Democrats aren't even a thought. I, for one, will vote for Lisa.

Most Americans oppose it, but the government's bailout of Wall Street appears in hindsight as a heroic rescue that kept the world economy from collapsing. Democrats are doing the right thing for all Americans, Lets not vote for Tea Baggers. YES WE CAN!!!!

For those who oppose the move, did you also rail against Joe Leiberman?

She got her job from patronage in the first place, maybe she should just go home and thank her lucky stars that she had as much time in the Congress as she did. Or maybe she should pay attention to the Florida race, looks like Crist's little attempt at "independence" isn't working for him. When the people speak, losing candidates with a sense of grace and dignity always shine through, and they do not turn around to run against the person who beat them. This isn't a Republican thing, it's about integrity and listening to the voice of the people, even if that voice has spoken words you don't like.

What a sore loser. She's only thinking of herself. Does she not care that she is just going to make it very possible for the Dem to win?

    Apparently she doesn't care.

This are the type of politician we do not need!

Why? You know you can't win as a write in. All you do is split the vote with the Republican nominee? Not good. Highly vindictive.

Nice to know she puts her ego and Big $ lobbyists (Oil) ahead of party. Watch-out Alaskans...she'll be trying to spin her lies and games to buy your votes. Don't fall for it.

A traitor to her party and country. These politicians, who want to split their party because the voters in their party said they want someone else, have no integrity or loyalty. They just want to get even with the voters for saying they are not the one this time. The real outcome will be at least two more years of socialists controlling congress.

Good...let her and all of tea party morons fight and split the GOP even more. Big surprise in store for them...the repubs are going to lose in November!!!

Really, what a sore loser. Talk about tarnishing your legacy. I would never cast a vote for this idiot. Shows a complete disrespect for the process she benefited from for all these years.

WOW, how old are you? You do know that you and Sarah are not in high school anymore, you can quit competing like you are the only one with something to win/lose.
You are dealing with the State of Alaska, the WORKing people of Alaska. How the hell do you feel so entiteled yourself, oh wait, that is right, R.I.N.O. slipped my mind for a second.
Did you forget you conceded?..... did you forget you said you would back whoever won?..... sad.
This makes you look like you are throwing a fit, little spoiled girl, didn't get her way. Hey, call your Dad, maybe he can sign you in.

Thank you Lisa for listening to the people of Alaska. Alaska's economy will take a nose dive if Joe Miller were to be elected. He is so out of touch, maybe its because he isnt from Alaska?

Whats this about Miller receiving farm subsidies??? That seems odd for a person so opposed to federal government handouts.

As goes Florida (Crist), so goes Alaska (Murkowski). Don't really know what that means, but it has to be godd for the Democrats. And the downside is ???

There were 8 million people in this country that were laid off during this recession that understood they lost their jobs... apparently politicians do not quite accept the "You're Fired" concept as well as the rest of us have had to...

Joe Lieberman has started a new trend.....if your party turns its back on you, get even by running as an independent. Even if you don't win, you might be able to keep your primary opponent from getting elected by splitting the vote.

Good. Alaska still has a chance to be represented by someone who isn't a lunatic.

And the more Miller speaks, the more the people of Alaska will see the depth of his lunacy and hopefully will come to their senses.

I'm thrilled with Lisa. Now the Democrats will have Alaska....my home.

When will people realize the only way the Republican Party can win any election is appealing to the psychotic Right. Unfortunately (for Republicans) Eventually the Psychotic Right actually believes that othere are people believe who believe in them.
