Murkowski plans to run as write-in candidate

Sen. Lisa Murkowski will announce her plans to run as a write-in candidate Friday.

Sen. Lisa Murkowski will announce her plans to run as a write-in candidate Friday.

(CNN) - When Sen. Lisa Murkowski of Alaska announces Friday night - as expected - that she is launching a write-in campaign to retain her seat, she'll be stepping into the middle of some very testy Republican infighting.

Tea Party Express Chairwoman Amy Kremer, whose group campaigned heavily for Murkowski's primary opponent - and eventual primary winner - Joe Miller, said the senator's decision proves she doesn't "get it."

"She was fired by the people. The people were given a choice and they voted for somebody else," she said, adding that she was shocked to learn of Murkowski's decision.

A Republican source told CNN that Murkowski informed "a few" close colleagues that she plans to run as a write-in candidate. A separate source with knowledge of her decision said she expects to announce her write-in candidacy Friday.

This is great news for Americans who understand it's America's two party system which is sucking the life out America's economics.

More independents, fringe nuts, elitists, extremists the better. Everyone is force to declare its position on key issues, topics and obliterates the current activity of name calling, lofty replies or responding by taking discussion elsewhere. Pure hogwash these last 30 years

Except split the conservative and give a Democrat win... At first she bowed out as she should of but she's acting like a loser.

Good for Lisa!! This is win win situation, not just because Murkowski is the best choice for Alaska and America, but also because Queen Palin's head is spinning off her shoulders right about now out of sheer anger. That image alone makes me very happy.

YES! I LOVE THIS...this Alaskan Senate seat has some personal issues behind it. Murkowski is upset because Palin took her father's position as Governor and THEN didnt even serve out her full term...compound that on the fact that Palin's endorsement is what really helped Miller beat her in the primary and you've got an old fashioned "GRUDGE MATCH". Murkowski isn't going down without a fight and if Miller is gonna win the Senate seat he's gonna have to work EXTRA hard because Murkowski wasn't easily defeated...this mid-term season is shaping up to be one of the best we've seen in a LONG TIME

She will not be getting my vote and any sitting republican that helps her will suffer as well. Rinos need to be eliminated.

Exactly what the Dems ( liberals) want. Many of these life long politicians have to do anything they can to cling to power.

The conservatives will loose regardless and she will be portrayed as a very sore looser!~

This is more a vote about the wisdom and intelligence of the people of Alaska. Here's your opportunity, Alaskans, to prove you are better than the face of your state, Sarah Palin.

Lisa is from a very wealthy family. She doesn't need the $174k so suffice it to say she could actually be running for the right reasons.

Thank God she has decided to fight for her position. As an independent voter in my home state I was unable to vote for the Republican that would get selected in the primary. Without reservation I certainly did not want Joe Miller and I don’t care that we are from the same town. The platform that he’s running on is incredibly extreme and not in the best interest of the majority of Alaskans. It has been pointed out that Sen. Murkowski has not always voted strictly along party lines. It’s unfortunate that in the modern era of polarizing politics that an incumbent is scrutinized with the attitude of if you’re not with us then you’re against us. Throughout her career Sen. Murkowski has always kept the best of interest of all Alaskans at heart. I believe if she is able to pull off her own upset that she’ll continue to do so. Come November I’ll be writing her in and hopefully Joe Miller will disappear into obscurity.

Joe Miller is a radical supported by Tea Party money.
Alaska only had a 17 percent voter turnout for the primary. A majority of Alaskans don't want Miller to represent the state. They can't stand Palin either.

As an Alaskan, I couldn't be happier. Miller is a carpetbagger who needs to go back to Iowa. He couldn't find this state on a map if the name was printed on it.

This is a great day to be Alaskan. Not only do we get to keep Lisa, but we also get to show the rest of the country that we do have at least one intelligent, sane, rational, capable, worthwhile woman in politics.

Good for her. Alaskan democrats might just hate Palin enough to vote for her.

The internal fight for control of the GOP is starting. Think of it, the most prominent voices, at this time, in the GOP are The Tea Baggers and The Birthers. No pressure for either because they don't worry about facts just the mindless sport of making it up as you need it!!!

    Great theater!!!!!!!!!

Lisa you represent the last vestiges of the moderate wing of the republican party. We need our voice to be heard. Run with passion!

I'm sure tea party darling and small government loving Miller will now get a chance to explain how, as a Yale-educated attorney, he managed to get USDA farm subsidies for growing barley on land he owns near Fairbanks, Alaska. Funny how he used to have his nose in the trough but now finds it repugnant for others to do likewise.

Murkowski may as well be a democrack since she has displayed the low class typically reserved for the demos, the same ones who will be packing their bags after November's election. Lisa you are a sore loser; you remind me of Al "I invented the internet and spandex" Gore. Throw yourself into a deep hole and zip it shut dummy.
