O'Donnell's mother on campaign payroll

O'Donnell, the surprise winner in Tuesday's Delaware GOP Senate primary, has justified the rent expenditure by saying her home doubled as a campaign office.

(CNN) -
A spokesman for Republican Christine O'Donnell's Senate campaign is suggesting nothing improper was committed when it paid out funds to O'Donnell's mother, Carole, earlier this year.

"Carole O'Donnell, Christine's mother, did receive money for her services rendered on accounting and the FEC reporting for the campaign before the treasurer came onto the campaign," a spokesman told CNN Friday.

As first reported by The Daily Beast, records filed with the Federal Elections Commission show the campaign paid $3,500 to Carole O'Donnell between February and July of this year. The expenses are listed under "bookkeeping" and "financial consulting services."

It is not illegal for candidates to employ family members on their campaigns, but O'Donnell has faced a series of questions about how she makes use of her campaign finances after her former campaign manager alleged she has used funds in 2008 for personal uses, including rent.

CNN Senior Producer Kevin Bohn contributed to this report.

Sounds like a low dollar figure to me! O'Donnell clearly is a fiscal conservative! Yet if some well-heeled elitist candidate paid 10x that amount, no one would bat an eye.
Is this all the dirt ya got? You establishment guys, on the Left and Right are just now getting kinda nervous about the angry electorate, eh? LOL.

watch out for those super non wealthy conservatives. Because they want to become wealthy on the tax payers dime or by the special interest groups. Usually its the big business that get them there.

You know, this woman doesn't seem like a bad person. Neither does Sarah Palin. It's just a shame that, yet again, women are allowing themselves to be exploited to support more of the same (the patriarchy). Sarah Palin makes a fool of herself on national television every day. Why? To support the misguided beliefs of her father and her father's father. Ms. O'Donnell is following the trend. They have no idea what they are doing. They're not big time, seasoned politicians. They're regular people. So, when they're left to run a big time political campaign, they screw up. Just like you and I would screw it up. The men who want to keep the status quo have thrown them to the wolves in the hopes that their backwards, outdated methods will stay in place. These men cannot speak for themselves any longer, because people are sick and tired of looking at them. Now that Ms. O'Donnell and Ms. Palin's mistakes have gone public, the "establishment Republicans" are turning their backs on them. It's pathetic.

Although I hate you Tea baggers, I have to side with you on this one, who cares if she paid her mom to help her out? As long as it was all reported correctly, then she did nothing wrong. So go find something else to bash her for, trust me she has plenty of material.

This is news because? Do we expect anything else from someone who has used campaign money to pay her house and bills? Someone who lied about her Princeton, no less, degree?
Someone who "won" two counties/districts against VP Biden but she really didn't?
Someone who thinks her god told her to run and make yourself rich. BTW – put her in a pair of ugly glasses and put her hair in a ponytail or old fashioned bun and who does she look like? Yep, the retard from AK.
Two peas in a pod to add to the angle and bachman mess.

The dumbing-down of America... a sad state of affairs. I'm still uncertain how this woman makes a living. Of course even asking that question means I'm making a liberal, personal attack against her. Perhaps she should follow sarah's advise and only talk to faux mews where she 'won't be subjected' to answering any questions – she will just be allowed to blather on and on about how the 'liberal media' wants to get her – you know, by asking questions that the American voters should be interested in having answered.

Sigh – just what we need, another professional victim....

The left wing biased Communist News Network (CNN) seems to be one of the first to attack Christine O'Donnell about her mother being on the campaign even though the story states, "It is not illegal for candidates to employ family members on their campaigns". So CNN, why did you even do a story? How about a story explaining why her opponent claims to be a Marxist?

    That's ridiculous!!!
It would ONLY be an issue if her mother has ZERO qualifications to do any office job like those she claim her mother did. If there's no evidence that her mother DID NOT the job then this is a non-issue.
    Come on!
The lady, like many other creationists, has a stricter than necessary interpretation of the word 'theory' (completely forgotting that it has more than one meaning) and has ridiculous ideas about education (students cannot be 'allowed' to pick which scientific, or not, theory they should be taught about, that goes against the whole purpose of education!!!), and if she gets into office get ready for some serious problems!
But this is a non-issue, unless her mother did not deserved the money.
