Adkins: Palin has become a 'punch line'

(CNN) – On the same night Sarah Palin roused a crowd of GOP activists in Iowa, country music star and outspoken conservative Trace Adkins told CNN he hopes the former Alaska governor does not run for president.

“She can't win - she's become a punch line,” he told CNN’s Anderson Cooper Friday night. “I love her to death, but i just don't think that she's - i don't think she can win.”

During her Iowa speech Friday, Palin herself made only one direct nod to the presidential implications of her visit to the first-in-the-nation caucus state – a politely-received joke about donning sneakers to "go running Iowa."

But the former vice presidential nominee told reporters earlier Friday she would consider running for president if the right opportunity presented itself.

To state that 'she has become a punch line' would imply that she was not one to begin with.

…a moderate! Yes, those are the ones that think, are smart and can see more than just one side of an issue. The ones that work across the aisle for the benefit of ALL Americans! If you have different sides, you should compromise to get things done instead of just saying “NO” or “HELL NO” Is that not what we want and should have and vote for? Please, vote responsible and smart!

I am a Republican. I will not vote for Sarah Palin. I will sooner vote for an independent or, heaven forbid, ...don't make me say it.... vote for Obama

Palin represents that breed of mocking, incendiary, agent provocateur, who use Patriotic propaganda to exercise control - GOP control!!!!! Christ said " Beware of the leaven of Herod" -Ie. The idea that Spiritual ends can be achieved through Political Means– When They tried to make Him King – Christ hid Himself away !!! - Today's brand of stoked up, Evangelical Politicians, believe you can serve God and Mammon!!! Instead of shunning the spotlight they tweet, and race for the nearest camera and Millions!!! - Religion and Politics should be kept apart!!! Palin is diseased by her own theology!!!!

Uh Riley....this nation was damaged when Obama took office. Remember that. Everyone seems to have forgotten what party was in charge while America slide straight into the pooper.

Perhaps Mr or Ms Riley would care to inform the class what "radical liberal policies" Pres. Obama has evoked in the last twenty- two months...

Instead of sounding like a sound-byte from the RW noise machine be a little more specific so we can ALL share your vision and awareness..

In Texas people start to say something bad about people by first saying "bless their heart". I translate Trace's comment as "She's cute, but dumber than a bag of hammers".

Riley, you are a huge fool. Also, little miss whack-job O'Donnell wouldn't look too favorably upon your monkey-spanking over anything Palin, that's immoral in her book.

Why are we asking the opinion of this idiot. He has money and can afford all the things average Americans can't. But, he does point out how dumb the retard party is by saying they should give the Dems the finger. It is this hatred that has divided America. Solutions should be bipartisan we are not a dictatorship. There is and old saying. Two people pass in the street and they each give the other a dollar they each walk away with a dollar. If the same two people share and idea they both walk away with two ideas. A Democrat is at least willing to share an idea the republicans want to take the dollar, steal the idea and take credit only if it works. If it fails they blame someone else.

She can "rally the troops," but she polarizes the party to the point it would lose some of the more moderate members. I think the party realizes that it needs votes outside of the party to succeed and Sarah cannot bring them in.

Riley, Where in the world do you live? Under a rock? I am Alaskan and sad to say but she is nothing but the 'Paris Hilton " of the republican party. All fluff and no stuff.
What has she done to deserve even an inkling of a notion that she is qualified to be President? Good Lord, people such as yourself scare me.
Oh and I am a conservative republican woman

If you think that Obama's policies are "damaging this nation", then just wait until you end up with the Tea Party in the White House!!! For those who think you are living in a "socialist" nation now, your life in a "Communist" nation will be quite another matter!! America is a Country where ALL people are allowed to live in freedom. We CANNOT live in a Country that points the finger at others and considers to live a life of THEM, VS. US!!!! We are the UNITED STATES OF AMERICA!!!

She CAN'T win, because despite the media giving her all this popularity-it really isn't enough to run or become President. She has good punch-lines but appears to be UNEDUCATED and stupid.

Having this lying, crazy person run and represent the party of 'no' – will only bring victory to her opponents.

She should pay attention to her family, especially her daughters so another mistake doesn't happen, and perhaps go back to school to learn how to speak properly.

    1. Who is Trace Adkins?
    2. Why does Anderson Cooper seek his thoughts on Politics?
    3. Well, whoever that teabagging country stereotype is, he at least has enough intelligence to understand that Sarah Palin can't win a general election in the United States of America.

Sarah Palin is a sham. She quit her governship half way through her term to make millions and for no other reason. Proving that when the going gets tough(or the spotlight dims), the self adoring, money hungry get going(to continue to be in that spotlight). Will Americans and the media continue to glaze over the fact that this woman does not have the moral stamina to complete her duly elected office in the name of greed and self indulgence??? I agree with Trace that she is a punchline. I do not, however, love her to death.

Riley I don't want Palin will run at presidential race ! but I'm sorry if you can't perceive Obama's job. I appreciate a lot Mr Obama's effort to build in the middle of a chaos . Criticize from your "desk" is a silly and destructive way . Put your focus in the best is more health and will get better results.

If the right opportunity presented itself, Palin would run for President. What opportunity would that be. The pay scale being raised to $10-12 Million per year?

Riley – I'm a liberal. President Obama is no liberal, let alone "radical" liberal, and "his policies" aren't even close. Actually, since he doesn't actually pass laws but just signs them, they're not exactly "his policies," either. Liberal policies would be universal health care like they have in Canada and Europe, along with free education for the ignorant masses. The financial industry would have been regulated with by reinstating Glass-Steagall. Radial Liberal Policies is a right wing talking point. Are you not capable of thinking for yourself?
