Adkins: Palin has become a 'punch line'

(CNN) – On the same night Sarah Palin roused a crowd of GOP activists in Iowa, country music star and outspoken conservative Trace Adkins told CNN he hopes the former Alaska governor does not run for president.

“She can't win - she's become a punch line,” he told CNN’s Anderson Cooper Friday night. “I love her to death, but i just don't think that she's - i don't think she can win.”

During her Iowa speech Friday, Palin herself made only one direct nod to the presidential implications of her visit to the first-in-the-nation caucus state – a politely-received joke about donning sneakers to "go running Iowa."

But the former vice presidential nominee told reporters earlier Friday she would consider running for president if the right opportunity presented itself.

"But the former vice presidential nominee told reporters earlier Friday she would consider running for president if the right opportunity presented itself." Right opportunity? The "opportunity" is presented to run for POTUS in 2012. Perhaps she meant the opportunity to run for, say, president of the Rotary Club or the NRA. Or president of some country other than the USA? Palin continues to demonstrate her inability to make an intelligent statement about almost anything.

Sarah Palin would be a disaster in any elective office but.....because of the intense hatred many American have against the idea of a black President she could be elected. Democrats should not underestimate her.

Palin cost McCain his presidential bid because he made the mistake of putting such a dope on his ticket. So, if people couldn't bring themselves to vote for her for VP, how can she possibly think that she could be President? If she somehow gets the nomination, I believe the Democratic candidate will win by a landslide. Except for the Tea Party loons, nobody likes this woman. She needs to stay in Alaska and leave the rest of us alone!

Palin is NO leader and has only "enlighten" the racist that she too is one of 'them'. I remember the shouts, "KILL HIM" at her KKK rallies and she didn't event say a "tweet". Why do you think she hides from the American people and the American Media?

@Riley – Really? She's a great leader? Give one example of great leading. The only person she impresses is herself.

He was going to say that he doesn't think that she is smart enough (an understatement), but he caught himself. Common Trace. You can say it. Repeat after me "She's dumb as a rock".

What would the "right isituation" be, Sarah? If the presidency were a part time job? Or would you just QUIT again? Loser........

Yes, Obama had transformed the U.S. into a socialist nation and ruined our country. I guess that's why we still have competitive choices when it comes to buying cars, appliances, and all kinds of goods. Why, if we were a capitalist nation, we'd have only one choice when it came to buying things, and that would be what the state produced. We'd also have to stand in long lines to wait for our rations of food if Obama had just left us alone. I guess that's why lost our opportunity to go into the greatest economic depression since the 1930s. It would have taught us so much, and our children would have grown up with a stainless steel work ethic. My, my, my! We would have been much better off with McCain/Palin.

Honestly, Sarah Palin lost my vote when she told Katie Couric in an interview that she attributes part of her foreign policy experiences on the fact that she is governor of a state where you can see Russia from Alaska.

That did it for me. Over and out. 🙂

Palin prays with witchdoctors and now ODonnell dabbles in witchcraft.
I see a pattern witches and no shows for interviews. The Tea Party is a a wreck and exetreme!

Riley, palin, aka will start a riot, running for president is every dem 's dream(especially mines). However, because of her mental abilities, juvenille personality, preference to remain ignorance, & immaturity she'll will always be a "wanna be".

I love posts like Riley's. It shows how willing a certain demographic is unconcerned with things like facts, and so willing to follow someone who wouldn't know truth if it hit her in the face. I would also like to know what policies President Bush enacted that were good for the nation.
Obama is a moderate at best. I guess you can't change someones mind. It does sadden me that people are so opposed to actually doing research. I guess as a nation have become so lazy the best we can do is parrot others. I fear that embracing people like Sarah will result in having a one party system. There are 300 million people in the U.S.A. only a fraction is willing put up with the nonsense that woman spouts.

Use to like Trace, but guess if he "loves her to death" he isn't as smart as I thought he was and he definitely doesn't need me to buy anymore of his records.

All the rethugs seem able to do is spread fear and anger and have no ideas except to let the wealthy get more tax breaks. They won't spend their money on the necessities that the middle class will and have no idea what it's like to know if you will have enough to make it to the next pay day.

I highly doubt she will run, 1st of all she does not want to cough up her medical records and secondly the scrutiny she would be facing would expose her for the fraud that she is.

Not too mention she is making a small fortune as a bobblehead.

Just what credentials and information does this country singer, Trace Adkins, possess to make a prediction that Sarah Palin can't win? I wouldn't count her out as a real contender. Especially among the Tea Party voters who really upset the establishment this last Tuesday, i.e. Christine O'Donnell. I believe these mid-term elections and the 2012 General Election will produce some big surprises and upsets. And that is what this Country needs right now.

As a Canadian conservative, I can't believe anyone in the US could consider Ms Palin a viable candidate for anything. Watching her performances during interviews and debates in the last campaign was excruciating. Her "conservative credentials" aside, she is far too divisive to lead the US and only appeals to the resinous hearted haters and nitwits who can't see through her GWB inspired fake, folksy speech patterns. At this point, it doesn't matter if she is actually qualified and intelligent. Her status as a punchline has forever overwritten any chance she had of becoming Prez.
