Adkins: Palin has become a 'punch line'

(CNN) – On the same night Sarah Palin roused a crowd of GOP activists in Iowa, country music star and outspoken conservative Trace Adkins told CNN he hopes the former Alaska governor does not run for president.

“She can't win - she's become a punch line,” he told CNN’s Anderson Cooper Friday night. “I love her to death, but i just don't think that she's - i don't think she can win.”

During her Iowa speech Friday, Palin herself made only one direct nod to the presidential implications of her visit to the first-in-the-nation caucus state – a politely-received joke about donning sneakers to "go running Iowa."

But the former vice presidential nominee told reporters earlier Friday she would consider running for president if the right opportunity presented itself.

Poor Trace, he walked into the lions den and became a useful idiot for CNN to bash Palin. Poor ignorant fool.

Riley, the majority of Americans feel Sarah is a joke. She definitely knows how to bring in the cash but a leader? Seriously now, would you want her representing us to the rest of the world? We have a brilliant president, but unfortunately in this country wel have a 2 second attention span and want everything instantly. If you look at his policies – and I mean really look at what he has done in 18 months – and turn off Fox fake news – you might change your mind. Get behind this president and as a nation working as one instead of working on our personal agendas, we will have sweeping benefits in consumer protection, the economy, education (so those unfilled jobs can be filled), new technologies, etc. This is America and together we can make this happen

Most liberals, being drug addled and products of an NEA dominated educations system, cannot think for themselves (hence the domination of unions) so they actually believe that the Tina Fey character is really Sarah Palin. That explains all of hateful, demeaning, degrading, sexist and racist comments you will see in these posts. To them this lying, corrupt, inept, union toady we have as president and his binkyprompter are the greatest things to ever happen in their lives. They have been told so by their slimy, corrupt union boss and find it being reinforced by a horribly biased left leaning media.

Maybe a little jealousy here? Palin is obviously getting a fat check from her handlers and funders, the billionaire Koch brothers. Obviously, Mr. Adkins is not.

Riley, Palin is a great leader? I take nothing away from Ms. Palin's craftiness and ability to mold the media to her will...but she has proven time and again to be a complete liar when it comes to Obama's policies, and the only thing she is leading is a group of ragtag malcontents who want to turn us back to the Dark Ages. Frankly, she scares the bejesus out of me because there are far too many people like you who actually think she is making sense.

LOL @ the first comment. Republicans are in control right now, friend. I agree with Adkins. I think Palin has become a punchline to too many people. They painted her as a moron last election. I agree with some of the things she has to say, but I don't think she'd make a good president. She's far too fake "folksy" for me. Her whole "mama bears" and "aw, shucks" shtick is too much. Let's not forget that this woman has a degree in communications focused on journalism.

Do you really think Sarah Palin has the brain power to become president? I don't think so.

Ronald Reagan was also a punch-line, until he was elected and rescued the U.S. from Jimmy Carter and unleashed the greatest economic expansion in our history.

And Trace, what moderate votes are you talking about? The only thing that they may have voted on was the bill that is geared towards helping out Veterans. You know, that group that is over there fighting and those coming back from fighting so that their elected officials can stand up and block anything that will help to move this country forward. And the value of a third party that is spewing out the crazy tea that has been brewing since July of 1862. If that is your view then you are to be pitied as the rest of them.

Trace. I threw away all my Toby Keith CDs when he endorsed Obama. Saw you at The sun in Conn. Loved it but....

Sarah tells it like it is and the media in defense of liberal ideas diminishes her.

Palin is a shrill insufferable reactionary provocateur. And she was born in the Ukraine, so she's constitutionally disallowed from being President.

  20. Pragmatic

Palin has a purpose in the GOP: raise money & stir up the base! But anyone who thinks she'll have a place in the power line-up is just kidding themselves. The GOP leadership will never let her put her high heels anywhere near real power: those decisions are made in the mens room ...

"...the former vice presidential nominee told reporters earlier Friday she would consider running for president if the right opportunity presented itself."

That "right opportunity" would have to be the entire population of the country suffering severe enough brain damage that they would vote for such an ignorant, divisive, hate and fear-mongering simpleton.

  22. Democrats are Destroying America

Why do the democrats want to run with the lies against Sarah Palin, and then some conservatives seem to think it is true when it isn't. She may or may not run, but she isn't stupid. God bless America.

I used to think she was funny, but she has moved to pathetic. She can't answer a 3rd grade geography question, so now all questions must be submitted in advance.

The national media are culpable for this. They had no problem interviewing the author of the Vanity Fair hit piece. But not one member reported how the story was debunked. Not one.

This is how our media keep her poll numbers artificially low: Palin's political ememies make up a lie. The media report the lie. That lie is debunked. And our media ignore it.

The public who endorse Palin continue to amaze me by their belief in this inarticulate, unorthodox person who has a way of splitting up this country with the haters (her followers) and others who want to work together.. Her ways of attacking the President onl y show how manipulave she is as well as how uneducated she is. She also continues to make millions off of those who buy her iine of misinformation. God help America if she ever gets an further than her current position - that of being one of a "big mouth" who stirs up the populace and is making millions of dollars for her own useage.
