    To my fellow Democrats,

This rhetoric isn't about truth or falsehood. It's about stoking the fires of anger so the Republican/Tea Party can re-establish their dictatorial control. They ran a system similar to the feudal system where the nobility (the rich) control everything, and you can only do things with their permission and paying their way. It's the world of the rich. But no one cares because they paint a picture of our President being "the worst President ever" (We know who that really was, don't we?) and "The Dem's irresponsible spending", all the while never accepting responsibility for their own actions. We have to get ourselves over the entitlement we felt when we won in 2006 and 2008 and get serious again, or we are headed right back to that same mindset.

With the Republicans it is ALWAYS about money.

I don't understand how they see themselves as Christians when they seem to worship the Golden Calf of the dollar above all else.

With all of the focus on extending the Bush tax cuts, people seem to have forgotten about the alternative minimum tax. Every year, congress has to pass a temporary patch to adjust the AMT for inflation, which was not part of the original tax code. I haven't heard anyone in congress mention a thing about this recently. Because of the way the AMT works, if the Bush tax cuts are extended for only those making less than $250K and the AMT patch is not passed, taxes for some people making as little as $40K/yr will actually go up, and taxes on some high earners may actually go down, due to tax credits from AMT payed in previous years. Something to think about.

Democrats don't want to raise taxes, they want to stop tax cuts for the wealthy. The highest tax rates have been reduced from 76% to 35% in the past thirty years. Have your taxes been cut in half like theirs. Why should their tax rates be half of what they use to be; and they are still complaining.

Only in their alternate universe can the GOBPbaggers claim their own bill should be blamed on the Dems. Being such hypocrites, they of course also miss seeing their stupidity about "fiscal responsibility" at the same time they want to pass an extension for the ultrawealthy that will make the deficit WORSE! More proof the extremists on the right are out of touch with mainstream Americans.

Why stop higher taxes for the wealthy? It is all ready proven that the rich people they do not invest or spend that extra money, so why not tax them? Republicans open their big mouth to teach about fiscal responsibility, but when it comes to help the rich and big corporations they just forget about fiscal responsibility.

It is not a tax hike!!! The Bush tax hikes benefited the upper 2%. If we keep the Tax cuts for the middle class and the poor, we will save $700 billion dollars and lower the DEFICIT!

Isn't that what Republicans want, to cut spending...so lets cut spending on the wealthy....Do not let the Republicans and Right Wing Conservatives BS you.....Democrats, Progressives, and Independents if we donot get out and vote for Democrats...the middle class and poor will lose big time. Health care for 50 million uninsured, prexsisting conditions begins October 1st for our children......Much, much more will be lost....Women's right to Chose......

Donot allow the Republicans to get back in power......they will only govern for big business and the wealthy......Give President Obama mor time....he has done alot for all Americans....Look at the LONG TERM not the Moment......Give Him Time....

The vast majority of the American people are against the continued tax breaks, perks for the rich but, of course, the republicans are ignoring this.
We cannot let our country go back to the policies of the republicans, which almost destroyed oour country, as they have no thought of changing their politics as usual and want to give control back to Wall St, big business.
They have sold us and our country down the river.

Only problem with all this thinking : Obooma will spend it faster than any tax increases on the top earners materalize ... so the deficit will keep on increasing.

The entire Republican idea of governing is eliminate all taxes..period.
Let the tax cuts expire and that should help pay for the Republican war of choice.

The rich DO get a tax cut – on the first $250,000. But not above that. So everybody gets a tax cut. That's fair.

Hmmm...the Dems agreed not to let the tax cuts expire for those making less than $250,000. So, by process of elimination, the Repubs, as usual, are worried only about those making more than $250,000, i.e. the rich people they represent.

I wonder – how many Senators and Congressmen opposing this are trying to keep their OWN taxes from going up??

OMG! Is it possible that the Republican party does not recognize that the American people recognize a lie when they hear it? I guess that was the morning email talking point. How did we have our heads in the sand for so long while the mess, lies, and failed economics went on?

Oh yeah, let's give someone making 40 million a tax break. Middle class folk don't need a tax break. That is how republicans think. Hey voters-–remember that in November.

Another lying republican. this would in no way be a tax increase. it would just put the filthy rich back where they were before bush. the republicans say that the rich drive the economy and add jobs. no they invest in the stock market with that money and make more money. the only jobs that they create is by shipping our economy overseas. and take all their ill gotten gains and stow it in an offshore or foriegn bank.

Let them expire for the rich. These tax cuts have done nothing to create jobs in this country. This was the fairy tale they handed us when the Bush administration cut the taxes and it's the same fairy tale the Republicans are trying to get us to believe now. I am sick to death of them talking out of both sides of their mouths. We need to reduce the deficit, but please don't get rid of the tax cuts for the rich.

Come on folks, is this self-serving or what. The GObP elected officials want the Bush tax breaks for the wealthy, because they all are wealthy. Small business creates jobs, not millionaires! Wealthy Senators and Represenatives do not create jobs, they just do not want to pay more taxes. Twice the GObP passed the Bush tax cuts without one single thought about the national deficit. They are just taradiddling (lying), Marlene in Mich
