Bruni denies Michelle Obama likened White House life to 'hell'

New York (CNN) – France's first lady Carla Bruni denied Monday that her U.S. counterpart ever told her that life in the White House was "hell."

"Of course Michelle Obama never said such a thing," the former model told CNN's Hala Gorani in an exclusive interview after arriving at the United Nations with her husband, French President Nicolas Sarkozy, who was attending a summit on global development.

The quote came from the unauthorized "Carla et les Ambitieux" ("Carla and the Ambitious"), written by Michael Darmon and Yves Derai and published last week.

In a passage about the French first couple's official visit to Washington last March, the book describes an official dinner at the White House in which Bruni reportedly asked Michelle Obama about life at the White House and her role as first lady.

Michelle Obama reportedly responded that the job is like "hell" and that she can't stand it.

Who should I believe, Fox or Carla Bruni? Fox, after all is run by a foreign billionaire who supports China's human rights abuses, is partially owned by Saudis, and has never allowed fact checking to get in the way of their republican party smears.

    What a pair of hotties.

Michelle Obama is the most remarkalbe First Lady we have had since Eleanore Roosevelt. Hillary was pretty awesome, too, but Michelle is that much classier, that much more likeable, even though Hillary is likeable enough.

Meanwhile, the sheisters who wrote the book are getting millions of dollars in advertising FREE and owe CNN and the rest of the idiot media a big fat thank you.

This will be a great one for entertaining ourselves watching conservatives insist upon reality being what they'd like it to be though. Despite it being rank hearsay and the person who supposedly witnessed the alleged statement denying it was ever made, I'm sure we'll get treated to conspiracy theories of a cover up and references to the "proud of my country" statement as proof that Michelle actually said it.

Our First Lady Michelle Obama is no drama queen, she is well educated as well as well spoken and leaves the drama to others.

What is "hell" is to have the paid Fox bloggers spreading their McCarthyism fear, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. To the ignorant GObP, remember, Bush's unfunded tax cuts, the Bush unfunded drug program, the Bush/republican unfunded war in Iraq, the unfunded Bush bank bailout to save us from a great depression, the largest growth of government in modern times under Bush, and an economic drop in everyone's economic standing, (except the wealthiest 2%) doubled the national debt in the name of fiscal conservatism.

Is "Social Conservatism" another form of republican "Socialism?"

Of course the First Lady didn't say it. The key word is unauthorized. However, the republikkkcan crowd will believe otherwise.

The writer of this book has carte blanche because only two people know what was said – Michelle Obama and Carla Bruni. Anything to cause controversy and get people to buy the book.

This is nothing knew but we seem to fall for it every time.

Didn't BRUNI deny this over a week ago???? CNN – why is this STILL NEWS!!!

Like I said in the past – start a POLITICAL GOSSIP COLUMN and put news like this THERE!!!! I am sure you will still have ME, along with others who may want to read this CRAP every once in a while – visiting there.

Michelle – even if it is hell being the First Lady – I 'doubly understand' because of the hell President Obama is going through!!! Jeez!!

This is T'SAH (the Liberal) from Virginia – not the Impersonator – and I approve this message!!!

No one in France will ever buy this book nor any others about Carla Bruni. We have better things to do.

Why would the Obama's hate the White House? After all, it is the ultimate welfare ride. Their people have been getting free money from the tax payers for DECADES. Obama and tribe spend more time on vacation and the golf course than doing actual work. The digs are so nice, the in-laws have moved in.. again typical black welfare recipients.

That's nice. So the media takes a comment from a book that allegedly is from this French "model". Then does a Fox New style job of journalism and runs with the so called remarks as if it was fact...before even confirming whether or not it was true.

Sounds like a typical unauthorized celebrity book, full of scandal and nonsense to sell copies.

First, someone tell Michelle that being First Lady is not a "job".
Second, someone tell Michelle that "hell" is what America is going through while her husband occupies the Oval Office.

Of course she said it! Let us not forget what Michelle Obama said in 2008, "for the first time in my adult life, I am proud of my country" so safe to say she stuck her foot in her mouth once again.

She may not have said BEING the First Lady was Hell but I assure you her being in the POSITION of First Lady (meaning Obama is the President) feels to the working men and women in this country like BEING IN HELL!!

In my humble opinion, Carla Bruni is afforded too much publicity thus opening the door to inappropriate misquotes. Perhaps it is time to take a lead from Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, who commands respect and disregards gossip!

The last thing we need is lies from Michael Damon and Yves Derai about the First Lady of the United States. She and the President are being attack daily about everything from policy (which is just fine) to where they grew up, what clothes they wear, what they vacations they take, who they associate with, etc.. Please give it a rest. Damn...

It wouldn't be the first time Mrs. Obama is misquoted in order to garner attention. "For the first time, I'm REALLY proud..." So much different than for the first time, I'm proud.

Let's say, for just a moment, that Michelle Obama said it. We all have our "moments" at work at home. How many of us don't say that we hate our jobs but we still go in every day. Not all in life is 100%.
I think she is doing a wonderful job. She's doing her thing to help kids, for one, and I commend her for it.
I am sure she is NOT the first First Lady to make a comment which is all it probably was.
Frankly, if it was me and my husband was being hammered by everyone in the rethug party I don't know what I would do or would behave. This President and his family are showing they are a class act.
Much unlike the quitter and beck and tub of lard and insanity, the list goes on and on.
