Poll of Polls: Obama in mid-forties

New Poll of Polls: President Obama at 46 percent.
New Poll of Polls: President Obama at 46 percent.

(CNN) - Six weeks before the November 2010 mid-term elections, an average of the most recent national surveys indicates that President Barack Obama's approval rating stands in the mid-forties.

According to a new CNN Poll of Polls compiled and released Tuesday, 46 percent of Americans approve of how Obama is handling his White House responsibilities, with 49 percent saying they disapprove.

Since early June the president's approval rating in CNN Poll of Polls has hovered around 46 percent.

President Obama's approval level stood at 67 percent in early February 2009, soon after he took over in the White House. In late July 2010, it fell to 43 percent, the lowest of his administration, while 50 percent of Americans disapproved of his job performance at that time.

The latest CNN Poll of Polls is an average of four national surveys conducted in the past 13 days: AP-Gfk (September 8-13), CBS News/New York Times (September 10-14), Gallup tracking (September 17-19), and Fox News/Opinion Dynamics Poll (September 14-16).

The Poll of Polls does not have a sampling error.

it is suprising his aproval rating is still above 40%, considering the hole we are digging ourselves out of and the amount of missinformation the media has been spewing on and about his policies. Mr. President! Keep up the good work.

Just shows that it took that long to not know what you are doing.

In 40+ years he is not a leader but sure can spend our money.

    Vote 2010 and 2012.

President Obama has no one to blame but himself.

Millions were out of work when he came into office and millions remain out of work two years later.

Faced with the worst economy since The Great Recession he focused on the traditional limousine liberal's pie in the sky: socialized medicine, instead of a new New Deal drive to rebuild and repair roads, bridges, ports, and other essential public infrastructure. Which would have created meaningful jobs.

Instead of helping Main Street, just like the Republicans, he's been the champion of Main Street's abusers on Wall Street.

So much for bipartisanship. Give the liberals the Insurance industry's head. Give the conservatives a revitalized robber baron corps on Wall Street. The worst of both worlds, and the little guy gets some extended unemployment benefits.

He's extremely fortunate to have @46 per cent support.

Still surprised that 46% approve of the job he is doing!!! I guess hand outs and government jobs will keep a portion of the population satisfied...

The reason Jimmy Carter has become so vocal these days is he knows he will no longer be considered the worst President. Obama has taken his place. Use the poll of polls if you want which has Time, MSNBC, Today, and many other left wing nuts that couldn't do a honest poll if they had to. This President is a Victim. The American people elected him 8 years to soon. He doesn't have th experience or maturity to handle the job now.

ENOUGH polls on the President!!! Why all of a sudden, while we are definitely in the primaries, there are NO polls matching the DEMS next to the PUBS???

How is O'Donnell doing next to Coons... What's going on in NH – NY – NV? There were SO MANY polls run over the summer but all of a sudden, there are NONE!!

Hmm, maybe it's because the RepubliCAN'Ts aren't do as well as they should be????

President Obama will stay in the MID-40s or higher because if he goes any LOWER – the American people will truly know that ALL POLLS lean towards the RepubliCAN'Ts – which they do!!!

T'SAH from Virginia – the Original Liberal – and I approve this message!!

It blows my mind how americans gave george bush two terms to totally screw this country up and over but won't give president obama even one to try and fix it.History has shown us that it has always been easier to destory then to create. Give the man some breathing room and stop second guessing everything he says or does.

His poll numbers are 15-20 pts ROO HIGH. His HENCHMAN and HENCHWOMAN, his accomplices in Congress have an approval rating between 25%-30%. They have been in LOCK STEP with the President and have puch through ALL his legislation. Up until January of this year had a Filibuster Proof Majority for about a year. Why is President Obama's approval rating 15%-20% higher than Congress? Will the AMERICAN PEOPLE WAKE UP and "DO THE MATH", President Obama = Congress.

I think CNN needs to learn how to take polls : Obama's real poll number is 40% to 41 % depending which of the two top polling companies you use.
