Reid calls Gillibrand 'the hottest member'

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid on Monday called New York Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand ‘the hottest member’ of the Senate.
Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid on Monday called New York Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand ‘the hottest member’ of the Senate.

Washington (CNN) - Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid is well known for unscripted statements that tend to make his aides cringe.

Reid made one of those comments Monday morning at a New York fundraiser hosted by Mayor Michael Bloomberg.

The Nevada Democrat referred to New York Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand "the hottest member," which apparently made Gillibrand blush, according to two Democratic sources familiar with the incident.

To be clear, Reid didn't just make up that reference out of thin air.

The 43-year-old mother of two in fact came in third recently on a list of The Hill's "50 most beautiful" list in Washington.

Still, there was a wince factor among Reid's advocates.

One big Democratic Reid supporter said in an email: "got to love Harry – always one quote away from blowing himself up...and I say that with complete affection."

A spokesperson for Gillibrand responded Tuesday morning.

"The Leader was saying nice things about the work Senator Gillibrand and Senator Reid have done together over the last year and half, and made a joke referencing to the Hill article from earlier this year," spokesman Matt Cantor said. "Senator Gillibrand has the utmost respect for Senator Reid and looks forward to continue working together to repeal [Don't Ask Don't Tell], pass 9/11 health, and create good-paying jobs across the country."

What a completely perverted idiiot Reid is. How can Nevadans elect such slime and how can the libertards make this racist and sexist the leader of their corrupt majority. He called us TEA party folks un-American and neanderthals. That is when I joined. I did not want to be any part of this slimeballs world.

Why is this a totally different article for a Democrat? This would have a completely different spin on it were a Republican quoted as saying the same thing. CNN you are disappointing me daily

She is definitely not bad looking, trouble is she doesn't use the brain that was planted in her skull. She has become a yes drone for the Dem. party. What once was a promising future is now just her being a yes-woman.

Reid makes an insulting sexist statement to Gillibrand and not a peep from women rights groups.
    Why not?
Oh, that right. They are busy attacking O'Donnell.
    What a bunch of hypocrites!

Right next to Coons ON RECORD as calling himself a bearded Marxist.

What is worse for Delaware a bearded Marxist or a person who dabbled in witchcraft when she WAS A TEENAGER?

By the way Gillibrand, you are NOT in the same league as Palin or O'Donnell.

Somebody better check his blood alcohol level. As a democratic leader he better be careful of what he says in public. Already public perception of the democratic leadership is bad. It is good to read a prepared script than making statements that make you regret later.

Beyond any rankings of beauty, Sen. Gillibrand happens to be one of the hottest members in the way of getting important issues addressed for the country, such as overturing the antiquated DADT for Americans.
