Tea Party group to pump $1 million into midterms

,

Washington (CNN) - A leading national Tea Party organization says it's going to pump $1 million to local Tea Party groups to spend on the midterm elections, thanks to an anonymous donation.

The Tea Party Patriots announced Tuesday that money will be distributed no later that October 4. Tea Party Patriots co-founder Mark Meckler said the funds won't be spent on his organization, but rather are "intended to go out to the groups on the ground, in the field."

"The goal of this donation is to do what we've always done as Tea Party Patriots, is to help groups on the ground be more effective at what they're already doing, not to tell them what to do, not to tell them how to spend the money," Meckler said.

As a group, the Tea Party Patriots is not required to publicly disclose its financial backers because they are classified as a "social welfare" group under section 501(c)4 of the tax code. As long as the group does not mention individual candidates in campaign material they do not have to release donor names. This is one way the Patriots differ from the Tea Party Express and FreedomWorks groups who both endorse specific candidates.

Meckler said the grant will be distributed among the Tea Party Patriots' 2,800 local affiliates and requests for the money must be received by September 26.

"Their job is to take those funds and leverage their activities on the ground already," Meckler said. "We believe the best government is local government, the best tea party is the local tea party."

A anonymous donor gave $1 million to the tea party campaign–and one of the republican candidates for office in Ca. gave $119 million of her own money to the campaign!
This is disgusting in a time when MANY people don't even have enough money to put food on their tables for
their children due DIRECTLY to the policies of the republican administration and congress! Now, they want to take us back–back to when they were getting tax break after tax break and banking money so they can BUY elections.
The greed is astounding and what is more distrubing is the masses who are buying into their message of less taxation for the rich!

$1 million dollars and not 1 specific thing about solutions but lots of complaints. Complaining is not a solution.

I do like that they are looking to get involved in government. The major things that I question are: what do they want government to do? What spending would they cut? How would they maintain the services that people are currently relying on?
    ------------
this all started with the signing af a 767 billion dollar bill that no one read.
What happen to the "posted on line for 5 days prior to a vote"
A new kind of washington remember.
This is the kind of spending they want cut. a waste of billions of dollars.
What happen to the shovel ready project that they are now trying to get more money for, they havent even spent what they allready have and are wanting to borrow more for the same projects.
Lets help everyone buy a car, paybacks to those who help get you elected or help with the programs you want passed thru the congress.
Flat out lies!! some of us saw thru all of the promises. others of us still cant. Blame it on racism, i know were all bigots. keep up the name calling, its all you got.

Some one here named CAROL needs to get facts straight about Jimmy Carter. The hostages taken during Carter's term were in Iran, not Iraq, and they didn't get their heads kicked around like "soccor" balls. Carter sent in a secret mission to get them free, and that mission went awry through no fault of his. The hostages were finally released as Reagan took office, and we learned later that was due to Reagan making a deal to trade weapons to our enemies the Iranians, a treasonous act on Reagan's part.

I lived through that era, and I know damned well what happened. People like CAROL should learn their history from reliable sources. (And learn to spell, while you're at it.)

The Tea Party is really "ramping up" its constituents, but I don't need these hard-line conservatives telling me that I, as a moderate, am unpatriotic, lack integrity and have low "family values". I'll put my morals, patriotism and integrity up against any of them. They have really ramped me up, too, to vote straight Democrat this November and that's something rare for me.
