No more national media interviews, O'Donnell says

Delaware GOP Senate nominee Christine O’Donnell said Tuesday night she would not do any more national media interviews.
Delaware GOP Senate nominee Christine O’Donnell said Tuesday night she would not do any more national media interviews.

(CNN) - Delaware Republican Senate nominee Christine O'Donnell says she's not going to do any more national media interviews, instead turning her attention to local media.

"I'm not going to do any more national media because that - this is my focus. Delaware is my focus and the local media is my focus," O'Donnell told Fox News' Sean Hannity Tuesday night.

"It's off the table because that's not going to help me get votes," O'Donnell said. "I instead want to go to as many town hall forums, as many candidate forums, as many church picnics that I can fit into my schedule, so that I can meet the voters."

O'Donnell's direct communication with the national news media has been limited. The GOP candidate canceled her plans to appear on two national Sunday political talk shows last weekend, her campaign saying she planned to attend local events in her state.

O'Donnell also addressed comments that surfaced last Friday after liberal comedian Bill Maher aired a tape of the candidate on his now-cancelled show "Politically Incorrect." In the clip, which first aired in 1999, O'Donnell said she once "dabbled into witchcraft" and had one of her first dates with a witch "on a satanic altar."

"Well, teenage rebellion. You know?" O'Donnell explained Tuesday night. "Some people dabble in drugs to rebel, that's how I rebelled. You know? But who didn't do some questionable things in high school and who doesn't regret the '80s to some extent? I certainly do. And I most certainly regret bringing it up to Bill Maher."

Maher pledged Friday to release a new clip of O'Donnell each week on his HBO show "Real Time with Bill Maher" until she appeared on the show.

Whats surprising about this?? She's an 8ball like Palin who can't handle REAL questions from MSM people. You know like...what newspaper/magazines do you read??? :):)

Really? Don't you mean that you don't want any actual questions on actual policy to corrupt your deception?

Cutting off faux news, that's bold. When even their cheerleading questions are too hard, you know you are completely unable to think or respond to questions.

And you right wingers call Obama on his use of the teleprompter. He speaks better in unscripted events than the o'donnells and palins of the world do with a rehearsed speech.

Phoney. I'm sure the town hall will be with pre-screened questions and audiences only. If this is how the TP is going to govern, we don't need it.

"But who didn't do some questionable things in high school" - She was still in high school when she was 30?

From this action, I take it that Ms. O'Donnell believes that the "local" media will have NO interest in her actions? THe local yokels will roll over and let her rub their tummies and NOT ask her about the alleged thefts? I guess she knows the locals best. Maybe if she loses in Delaware, she might move to Bell, Ca. Obviously the locals there can be bamboozled quite easily.

The voters of Delaware have to ask themselves: "What is this woman trying to hide?"

She's like a teen-ager running for office, except this is not high school. If you can't trust yourself to come across intelligent and give coherent answers to tough questions then you should not be running for the Senate. The Senate has an affect on all Americans, not just the citizens of Delaware. As Pres. Harry S. Truman said, "If you can't stand the heat, get the hell out of the kitchen."

Yeh, don't miss any of those church picnics. And remember that there are Jews, Muslims and atheists out there also. But knowing you're with the Tea Party, they don't count.

Another Republican who wants to hide from the facts. They are all chickens. Americans standup and fight. These guys run and hide. They have no business calling themselves "real Americans". The GOP talks big and in general terms such as “ we will tack back our country”, “we will cut spending”, “ we will cut taxes” etc. All of those general things they talk about will mean cutting services such as Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid, Veterans Services, infrastructure spending, food stamps, unemployment insurance etc. Ask them for specifics and the weave, bob, and run. Is that the kind of people you trust to be in charge of your well being? All they care about are themselves and their pockets, even if they have to lie, cheat, commit fraud.

  18. what a farce tea party liar christine

Just like the other wacko Angle who wants the news people to ask only the questions she wants to answer, here is Christine going undercover, limiting herself to only safe areas. Paladino is another one who sent racist and sexist emails but got elected while flying under the radar. They got vetted just like Palin.

So she Tell's Sean hannity of the GOP's PR firm FOX News that she won't be talking to National media anymore, well after this interview of course, and maybe The O'Reilly factor, and maybe a FOX news special interview done by Sarah Palin, but definitely NO MORE NATIONAL INTERVIEWS after this one.

I saw Coons on tv this morning and I can't wait until the debate on cnn between Odonnell. If she debates the same she is talking now, she is toast. That is if she even shows up. She will probably be a quiter like Palon.

No big surprise here....this is straight out of the Palin playbook. When you don't want the voters to see what a complete nutcase you are, you avoid the media and their pesky unscripted questions.

I would like to say that if the people of Delaware are stupid enough to elect this lunatic, they deserve what they get, but unfortunately, as a US Senator, she could hurt us ALL.

If she can't take the heat, she should write notes on her hand so she's got a standard answer to those tough questions like, what do you do for a living besides run for political office? Consulate on what, she has such a knowledge base she has clients clammoring for her expertise - she's toast.

This is the right wing ploy. No debates, no interviews. How can people know who these people are if they don't come forward in a public forum. Our Governor is doing the same thing. Of course she looked so bad in the one debate she did. But the right wing is voting for her anyway. The right wing will bring us down yet. i say if they don't debate and talk to the media, don't vote for them.
