(CNN) - Democrats unveiled their "Make it in America" agenda Thursday to counter the Republican "Pledge for America," which they say is more of the same.
"Americans deserve to hear a real plan," said Democratic National Committee vice chair Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz.
New Jersey Democratic Rep. Frank Pallone said his party is looking to the future with an agenda that would bring back jobs from overseas. They announced "Make it in America" at a press conference at DNC headquarters in Washington.
The announcement came after Republicans revealed their pledge, which Wasserman Schultz said was more of the same "failed" ideas.
"Democrats and President Obama have worked to move the country forward. This plan would take us back to the Bush years," Wasserman Schultz said.
Republicans are trying to repeal Obama's signature health care reform package and Wall Street reform and want to privatize Social Security - the work Democrats have done to overturn some the Republican policies that were implemented when Bush was in office, said Pallone.
Wasserman Schultz said Republicans are still not listening to America and have proposed a plan that's been drafted by lobbyists.
The Democrats did not draft a physical document like the GOP's pledge but reiterated the agenda they've been pushing through congress since they took office. It includes a small business tax credit, balancing the budget, growing the economy, make products in America, tax breaks for the middle class, rebates for seniors under Medicare and protecting and preserving Social Security.
Pallone said Republicans only want to help Wall Street, health insurance and big oil companies and create corporate tax giveaways and tax breaks for the wealthy and not the middle class with their pledge.
"If you have a vision for a future where we create jobs, we control healthcare - we provide healthcare - we help small businesses and we do things that are going to move America forward, then you have to reject the Republican pledge and move forward with Democrats," said Pallone.
BALANCING THE BUDGET?????? They CAN'T be serious. The Democrat Controlled Congress has overseen the LARGEST expansion of ANY government budget in the HISTORY of the WORLD.
Until the Democrat members come out and support the FairTax proposal, they're just blowing smoke about wanting jobs to return to the US. Without the elimination of the Corporate, Personal and FICA taxes, no corporation in its right mind will want to relocate here, because they'll be taxed on the items made and sold here as well as in the foreign country.
THIS is the document setting forth fresh new ideas from the GOBP?!? It looks more like a coloring book version of disproven warmed-over ideas that have failed massively in the past. Here's your "new" GOBP slogan:
"If you liked the ditch we drove America into last time, you're gonna LOVE the canyon we're aiming for now!"
"If you have a vision for a future where we create jobs, we control healthcare – we provide healthcare – we help small businesses and we do things that are going to move America forward, then you have to reject the Republican pledge and move forward with Democrats," said Pallone.
No, Pallone, I don't have a vision of you Democrats creating jobs, you Democrats controlling health care, you Democrats providing health care, and you Democrats "helping" small businesses. I have a vision for you Democrats butting out of our lives and letting private enterprise work to move this country forward without your interference!!!
GOP is scared of Robin Carnahan
We used to be able to :make it in America" until the Dems took back control of Congress and did they try that Change thing already, back when the unemployment rate wasn't over 9% and more people were above the povery line. Blame Bush all you want libs, your Congress and your President have made matters much, much worse. Hey, maybe another stimulus package, printing more money doesn't have any negative impact.
