Palin targets 'damned lies'

(CNN) – Sarah Palin announced the launch of a new website Thursday, aimed at defeating twenty incumbent Democrats who voted for President Obama's health care bill and who are running in districts that swung Republican during the 2008 presidential election.

In the announcement on her Facebook page, entitled "Lies, Damned Lies – Obamacare 6 Months Later," the former GOP vice presidential nominee resurrects her claims that "rationing 'death panels'" are included in the health care bill and promotes the new site, which endorses candidates who support the bill's repeal.

Palin is unspecific as to what section of the final bill she refers to as creating 'death panels,' but does link to her original Facebook post which sparked a storm of controversy in 2009. In the post, she stated that the health care bill would create "death panels" that would decide whether people "are worthy of health care."

The claims caused a headache for the Obama administration and propelled outrage among the bill's opponents.

The section which critics of the of the original bill referred to as 'rationing care' and establishing 'death panels' was one which required Medicare to pay doctors for consultations with patients about "advance care planning," such as the drafting of living wills. Those consultations would include "an explanation by the practitioner of the continuum of end-of-life services and supports available, including palliative care and hospice."

In a statement released in 2009, the American Medical Association, which endorsed the bill, said it "would not mandate that patients take advantage of this benefit."

"The new Medicare benefit would allow doctors to be compensated for such consultations every five years, and more frequently if a patient has a life-limiting illness or health status changes," the organization said.

TakeBackThe20, which is funded by Palin's political action committee  SarahPAC, features a map of the United States with crosshairs over the targeted districts and a gallery of the conservative candidates 'recommended' by SarahPAC.

This is not the first time Palin has used crosshairs to identify Democrats in districts that voted for John McCain in 2008. Following the health care vote in March, Palin received criticism for using a similar map and tweeting "commonsense conservatives & lovers of America, Don't Retreat, Instead – RELOAD!"

Maybe President Obama should invite Sarah to the White House for a cup of coffee. He could ask her what part of the health bill is causing her such concern, and then he could explain in simple language why her concerns are misplaced.

This is a prime example of what Bill Clinton recently called, "Fact Free". I am sick and tired of these politicians not being held accountable for their criticisms and claims. This crap from Palin has been debunked time and time and time again but she continually uses it. It is time for these people to provide evidence and support for what they say and if they can't provide any they need to shut up. This type of stuff is polluting the entire election process and skews the vote because there are people out there that will believe anything people like Palin say no matter what.

Hold politicians accountable for their claims, DEMAND evidence and DEMAND that they debate the issues in open forums not sitting behind their keyboards on Facebook.

    Enough is enough!

More tripe from B-B-brain Sarah. She didn't know what she was talking about during the election campaign, she doesn't know what she's talking about now, and those who listen to her are disaffected, angry, and undereducated. Let's not hear anymore from or about "cut and run" Sarah!

I suppose all if you Palin critics have read the health care law? No one who voted for it did. I woud guess that if asked none of the liberal lemmings can tell you about any section of the law.

    Sarah Palin supported the bailout
Sarah Palin supported cap and trade
Sarah Palin supported the same Health Care "death panels" in Alaska as governor
Sarah Palin taxed oil companies so she could give money to the citizens of Alaska.
Sarah Palin shucked her responsibilites as an elected official to seek the almighty dollar.
Sarah Palin incites hate and division by using the President's middle name, even though she does not do this with any other person(it's called a microinequity).
Sarah Palin thinks that only those who agree with her are "Real" Amercians.

Sarah Palin is a lying, mean spirited hypocrite who is using the "anger" of people to line her pocket books.

here's an idea: how about a news media moratorium on reporting ANYTHING Sarah Palin says for a month? do I hear 2 months? 3 months? just let this one-note, tiresome pony do her snorting and smearing on her facebook page. don't reward her by catering to her only plan, which is to play the tease game of "is she is or she not a candidate?" and keep her profiteering self in the limelight. This game really isn't that hard to figure out. but the media is as pathetic and lazy as she is.

For that precious son that she has one would think that this woman , who has a lot of money now and can take care of her son, would be more sympathetic to those who do not have insurance, especially with regards to children. May God bless her and her family... that's right. And may she live tlong to see this president SUCCED.
