Poll Watch: Boxer has small advantage in California

(CNN) – California Sen. Barbara Boxer holds a small lead over Republican challenger Carly Fiorina, according to a new poll released Friday.

The Field Poll has the three-term Democrat 6 points ahead of Fiorina among registered voters, 47-41 percent. Boxer's level of support is the same as it was in a Field survey conducted two months ago, while Fiorina's is down 3 points.

The poll also suggests that much of the support for Fiorina – the former Hewlett-Packard CEO – stems from the anti-incumbent mood that is sweeping the country: close to two-thirds of her backers said their vote should be seen as one against Boxer and not for the Republican businesswoman.

The survey, conducted between September 14-21, interviewed 857 registered voters and caries a sampling error of plus or minus 4.1 percentage points.

A CNN/Time/Opinion Research Corporation survey released two weeks ago showed Boxer with a 48 to 44-percent advantage over Fiorina, a margin that was within the poll's sampling error.

  3. Can't We All Just Get Along?

If the Rethuglicans get back in control or Washington and the elected offices, we can kiss America goodbye. Our country will be turned into a theocratic dictatorship with low IQ'd individuals in office. Real Americans are NOT voting for the Rethuglicans. Real Americans love this country and want what's best for it and its people. The Rethuglicans have proven time and again that they hate America and Americans.

Very difficult to understand the mind-set of CA. They are so far from the main stream of folks. Really hope the United States does not follow CA as we will all be doomed.

Good thing Fiorina got her golden parachut from Hewlett-Packard before the FEDs changed the rules. Bet you didn't get yours when you retired or when you lost your job, in fact millions of people lost money in their retirement accounts.

  8. All the news that is fit to omit

Faulty reasoning, but anything to move the agenda along.

The polls that you care about are the ones for LIKELY VOTERS and she is losing in that account.

Registered voters is a false and phony argument, but again, anything to try and stem the tide by LYING and manipulation of the people's perceptions.

    See you in November.

Californian's please remember...Boxer has supported regulations that drive businesses out of the state (Unemployment is at an all time high), environmental regulations that starve the Central valley's water supply where much of the nations vegetables are grown (all because of a tiny fish in he San Juaquin delta), She is anti-military. her immigrration policy is wrong for the country but especially California. She is an Washington dinosaur. She hasn't held a real job for 30 years..she is ou of touch with the people. Fiorina is a much better choice.

Voters are snapping out of getting too comfortable thinking that they don't have to defend progress. I suspect that they are
considering the alternative to progress with the likes of Sarah Palin, O'Donnell, and the rest of the soggy teabaggers if they
are ever allowed to take control of us. I am making sure that my voting credentials are in order waaayyy before November.

Boxer is a career politician, and an arrogant Washington elitest. Why would anyone in California vote for her? Fiorina is a true patriot who wants to restore freedom and libert, and fiscal discipline, plus she has experience in business so she knows what it takes to get the economy moving again.

Wake up people! Stop Obama and the Democrats and their Socialist agenda. Vote Republican on November 2nd.

Why do people continually support old, too comfortable in Washington politicians. We need new blood, people that simply represent the communities from where they came. No more political elites. It's time to remove the compost heap from D.C.

What a rabid dog...for all that vote for this pixie remember you are with your vote giving away just another bit of what is left of your civil liberties. When you allow the Federal government to dictate what light bulb you can use or what Doctor you must see you have become little more than nothing. These very people have squandered the taxpayer money in entitlement giveaways in California and you want to vote them in again? What is wrong with you, do you actually believe all that Hollywood crap that spews from your State? This concept is the entire basis of the liberal progressive left which Boxer belongs to, me I would rather eat worms.

if this idiot keeps her seat, Californians only have themselves to blame for the condition of their state and country.

Loons have brought the state of California to its knees so its no suprise they like liberal Boxer. She is into Obamacare, higher taxes and bashing businesses just like the rest of the Democrats.

California can do much better than Boxer. California is losing business right and left because of Boxer's politics (and Watters, Pelosi's....). If Californians want to become relevant again, the should vote out the bums that are killing their economy.

Fiorina isn't perfect (who is?), but she's a much better candidate and will be a much better leader than a brainless (yet, very wealthy) Boxer.

I just think carley fiorina is typical of gop candidates forget about the hard wrking middle class and do whatever is necsiary for the almighty dollar! she fired 30 thousand hp wrkers and outsearch the jobs to india ! hp had negative growth under her term much like bush 8 yrs in office !reliance on tax policies and deregulation that hurt job growth in the name of free enterprise system! gop plans is the same plan they had year after year tax cuts and deregulation ! a plan that would increase the deficit and no jobs! we can t afford carley and her fellow gop candidates this nov.
